Revisiting Peloton Collection Classes Body Appreciation

Why Revisit Peloton Collection Classes: Body Appreciation

Why Revisiting Peloton Collection Classes Is Worth Your Time

Revisiting older Collection Classes on the Peloton platform offers a unique opportunity to uncover high-quality programming that often gets buried under the constant influx of new content. While the platform excels at pushing fresh rides, runs, and flows to the top of your feed, the library of curated Collections holds substantial value as well.

Navigating to find these gems requires patience, however. Peloton’s organization of its Collections tab has never been particularly intuitive. As members know, the series are not always listed chronologically or alphabetically. Finding a specific program can sometimes feel like spinning the big wheel on The Price is Right… you never quite know where you are going to land but you hope it’s not that nickel! Despite the chaotic interface, if you put in a little effort to locate these classes, you’ll likely be rewarded with a high value surprise in your workout.

Spotlight: The Body Appreciation Collection

One prime example of a hidden gem within the Collection Classes library is the Body Appreciation Collection. This set of classes from 2023-2024 focuses less on metrics and output, and more on gratitude for what the body can do. It serves as a necessary counter-balance to the high-intensity, leaderboard-chasing culture that often dominates the platform.

Review: Chelsea Jackson Roberts’ Body Appreciation Stretch

If you take Chelsea for yoga, then this class will greet you like a giant hug. But if you don’t yet (and she invites you to!) you will be welcomed into her world of methodical pacing and kind gestures. The theme of this stretch is to find and take the support you need. Moving through just a few simple movements like a runner’s lunge, Chelsea walks us through really deliberate thinking about what your body is doing. It’s not technical, like a Ross class, but it’s more about being in the moment and acknowledging where your body is at today.

I did this after a long strength class but it can also be taken as a warm up or even a standalone class on a recovery day. Though her frequent mantra of saying “thank you, body” isn’t part of the narrative in this class, Chelsea still conveys that sentiment through mindfulness. She also incorporates using the ground to support your body, and instructs on how to raise the ground up using yoga blocks. While this may be second nature to some yogis, folks newer to mindful stretching may appreciate the accommodation.

I had taken this class back in 2024 and forgot all about it, but I had kept it bookmarked because I liked it. I definitely get in ruts with my go-to stretches but I was glad to have the opportunity to revisit this Collection and this stretch.
