Transcript:

Speaker: Welcome to the Clip Out Podcast, episode 4 43. This is Crystal O’Keefe,

Speaker 2: and this is Tom O’Keefe. . So, there has been a debate on the show for a while.

That I’ve started. Oh, are

Speaker: we doing this

Speaker 2: about, am I a co-host or a sidekick? So let me present some evidence. You’re a

Speaker: co-host. You co-host the show.

Speaker 2: We were doing a Christmas thing with my sister. [00:01:00] On Saturday

Speaker: Uhhuh,

Speaker 2: and she said one, she’s talking to one of her friends and she’s,

Speaker: well, it was, it was Morgan’s friend actually.

Okay.

Speaker 2: Morgan’s friend. And she said that she kept seeing you tagged in photos.

Speaker 3: Yeah.

Speaker 2: And then she was like, wait a second. Why did I never realize that your sister-in-law is clip out Crystal? Like I didn’t realize that’s who your sister-in-law was. Like I listened to that show every week. I had no clue.

That’s so cool.

Speaker: I don’t think she said she listened every week,

Speaker 2: so. I would like to point out, I believe her name was Allison. It was Allison. I would like to point out what Allison didn’t say to my sister well, which is I listened to your brother’s podcast, okay. She said, I listened to your sister-in-law’s.

Podcast. But

Speaker: the [00:02:00] thing is that you keep forgetting is that the whole conversation was about the time I had to run to the store because quote unquote, I forgot a Christmas present. So that’s why I was the topic of the conversation, which is why Allison brought up in the first place. So she was not, not saying you.

Mm-hmm. It was just the conversation was focused on me specifically. And by the way, for the record, I did not forget the Christmas present. I delegated to Brian to get the presents and Brian didn’t get the presents.

Speaker 2: So just to recap, Allison skipped over. Karen’s blood relative who is on this show

Speaker: because you weren’t being accused of forgetting a present

Speaker 2: and went straight to her sister-in-law to describe whose podcast.

It’s so I’m just saying. So sidekick Alison, [00:03:00]

Speaker: thank you for listening. Yes,

Speaker 2: Allison. Thank you so much. For clearing that up. So we now know.

Speaker: I don’t think that’s how I wasn’t there, that I’m a sidekick. I wasn’t there, but I don’t think that’s how it went.

Speaker 2: That is literally how that conversation went. So in light of that, allow me to perform one of my mini sidekick duties by asking what pray, tell.

Do you have in store for people this week?

Speaker: Well, somebody didn’t put up my script this week. Oh god dang it.

Speaker 2: I forgot that we started doing that.

Speaker: That’s okay. I can go through it. So kick it. Old

Speaker 2: school,

Speaker: we’re gonna have a couple things about, uh, club Peloton to talk about. One is a glitch That’s very interesting.

And this week now it’s not The legends getting their own ride, it’s the Champions. Oh. We also have an update on pre post ride run and row stretches and where those are available. You can now get to bookings for the [00:04:00] studio for March and February, even though we’re still in December. Okay. There’s a reason for that.

Speaker 4: Mm-hmm. Okay.

Speaker: Um, we are going to explain why we’re gonna get to the bottom of why the Tread Plus is not available in Europe. By the way, we’ll talk about the row two. Also, uh, there was a fascinating article over on LinkedIn about how Peloton converts newbies to long-term members. Okay. Uh, we are also going to talk about Peloton sending out gifts, but only to those people who bought new hardware.

Oh. We love you too. Us people who have been around for 10 years, Peloton,

Speaker 2: they’ve already converted you to log time member. They don’t,

Speaker: they don’t need to convert me. There is the Peloton Yearend review that is being talked up, but it’s not out yet. So we’re a little confused about that. Uh, there is tons of, in the news for instructors.

Uh, Logan Aldridge has a very special announcement this week. One, two actually. Two very special [00:05:00] announcements. This week we’re gonna talk about Adrian Williams Health Scare. Uh, he’s also got a, a, uh, a new thing going on with great things. Uh, we are gonna talk about what’s going on with Tim Robards, what he’s been up to.

Jermaine Johnson’s been in the news, and we’ll tell you exactly when. Christian Vanderbilt is gonna be at PSNY, not to mention the newest artist series. We’ve got two. Listings of competitor news this week, which I found both of these fascinating.

Speaker 4: Yeah.

Speaker: Uh, and then of course we’re gonna get into the content and all the things you need to know about to make sure that you enjoy your classes.

Speaker 2: Okay. Well before all that shameless plugs, don’t forget we’re available on Apple Podcast, Spotify, iHeart. Tune in wherever you find a podcast. You can find us. While you’re there, be sure and follow us so you never miss an episode. Maybe leave us a review if you just can’t get enough of us and who can blame you.

The lovely clip out Crystal and her side gig.

Speaker 4: Oh,

Speaker: stop. Just stop as

Speaker 2: deemed by Allison.

Speaker: That’s not what happened. [00:06:00] It was verbatim. No,

Speaker 2: I took shorthand.

Speaker: No.

Speaker 2: Well, any writing I do is shorthand.

If you cannot get enough of us, you can find us over on patreon patreon.com/the clip out where? For a poultry $5 a month

Speaker: Poultry.

Speaker 2: Less than the cost

Speaker: of anything these days of

Speaker 2: feeding one of those Sally Struthers kids

Speaker: tell you it’s definitely less than a cost of a vinyl record.

Speaker 2: Oh my goodness. Don’t even get me started.

Speaker: I know.

Speaker 2: But, uh, you can sign up for our Patreon. What does that get you? You ask. It gets you ad free episodes. It gets you bonus content. Last week’s was epically long.

Speaker 4: It was,

Speaker 2: I think, was that the first time it was longer than the main episode? I think it might’ve been. It was a lot. And you also get the episodes released to you early and of course, our undying love and affection.

We’ve had so many people joining the pat in the last two, two weeks. Yes. Thank

Speaker: you guys. I don’t know what’s going on, but if we did something [00:07:00] right, tell us, but, uh, yeah. But we are so glad to have them there.

Speaker 2: Whatever I said that made people finally decided to pull a trigger, just pretend I just said it again, but better.

And they run over. They have

Speaker: Patreons just pushing it in front of people. I don’t know. Who knows?

Speaker 2: But thank you. Yes, thank you. We are. We’re so

Speaker: grateful to have you.

Speaker 2: Yes. And you know it is the holidays. That’s true. And lots of people have been turned onto the show because a friend has told them a great way to pay back that friend, get ’em a Patreon subscription.

It’s true. Just throwing that out there.

Speaker: I love it.

Speaker 2: You can also find us over on Facebook, facebook.com/clip out. While you’re there, like the page, join the group. Don’t forget, you can watch all of these over on YouTube. youtube.com/at the clip out. And then finally sign up for our newsletter@theclubout.com, where you get a weekly reminder via email that we exist, and it has a bunch of the links and stuff that we throw at you during the show.

So there’s all that. Let’s, uh, let’s dig in. Shall we? We shall.

[00:08:00]

Speaker 2: welcome to Club Peloton. You’ve been demoted.

Speaker: I don’t know how common this glitch is, but uh, it really cracked me up because this person, uh, was a champion.

Speaker 4: Mm-hmm.

Speaker: And actually I think they were a legend and, uh, they were demoted to gold Three. And it’s really funny because it says they didn’t set

Speaker 2: their resistance right.

Speaker: It says negative 34,253 points to champion, like you’ve surpassed it by 34,000 points.

So like, I don’t know what’s going on for this poor person, but they got. Completely downgraded. And I don’t know how common this is, is I only saw one post about it, but it really cracked me. Maybe

Speaker 2: Do they have a jacked bike? They’re onto you. This is what they do. Oh, you got jacked bike?

Speaker: Well, it’s not one of the [00:09:00] people that are known for having jacked bikes, let’s just say that. Whoever could that be?

Speaker 2: Oh, you know, well, that’s, that would be demoralizing.

Speaker: Right.

Speaker 2: Yeah.

Speaker: Well, and it’s like nine times outta 10 not that big of a deal. Yeah. But, uh, if you were like, gonna go purchase something in the store, let’s say mm-hmm.

That’s fair. Yeah. And you were looking to use your 25% off discount and it’s like, just kidding. You only have a gold three. It’s like, excuse me. But the funny thing is, is that in their profile it says gold three, but then like. On their profile emblem. Yeah. It still has the legend status. Like it’s just everything’s wrong.

Like it’s just all wrong. Rub

Speaker 2: it in their face.

Speaker: Well, it’s just clearly a huge glitch and it’s just like, what? What the hell? It’s just numbers, guys. How does this get messed up? Remember

Speaker 2: 10 minutes ago when you were a legend?

Speaker: No more, not your gold three.

Speaker 2: So, uh, speaking of Club Peloton mm-hmm. [00:10:00] Club Peloton champions.

Not only get their own breakfast, but now they get their own ride.

Speaker: Yeah. So, uh, last week Robin had the legends ride. Mm-hmm. And now, uh, the champions get. Cody doing a 20 minute ride. So there’s a few things about this I wanna point out. Okay. One, the first ride was 30 minutes long. It was for the legends, and it was at noon on a Tuesday, which everyone lost their goddamn mind about.

Now it’s 20 minutes with Cody at five 30 Eastern, and everyone’s still losing their mind about it because people are like one. Why did the legends get stuck with Robin? Which I think is really rude.

Speaker 2: It is just rude. Especially ’cause like

Speaker: there are always gonna be people who don’t like any instructor for sure.

Speaker 2: Absolutely. But like. She is a marquee instructor. Not only that, but

Speaker: like all these people who, it’s like the vocal minority. Yeah. Uh, they just like to bitch about Robin, but like, look [00:11:00] at her numbers. Right. Her numbers are consistently the highest, like they just are. Right. So, yeah. Suck it. If somebody told you

Speaker 2: you were gonna get to see a secret concert

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker 2: And you love Metallica, but it ends up being you too. Yes. You would’ve preferred Metallica, but it’s not like they cheaped out and were like. Here’s Fog hat. Yeah.

Speaker: Well the other interest.

Speaker 2: And be careful ’cause I book Fog hat a lot. Yeah. I’m in trouble. Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker 2: Sidekick.

Speaker 5: I know how you feel. Fog hat least it’s not your own wife doing it to you.

Speaker: Um, the other thing that people are upset about because what would we talk about if we didn’t talk about upset people? Sure. Uh, the other thing is that I thought this was cool. Only the champions can see it live. So like, it doesn’t matter that you’re a legend, you can’t see it.

It doesn’t matter. Like even though legends have more points than a champions, only champions have it on their schedule, which I think [00:12:00] is smart.

Speaker 2: Yeah, like, like

Speaker: Every level gets their moment. Then

Speaker 2: you can’t get mad if you don’t know it’s. There.

Speaker: I mean Yeah, they know ’cause we are telling ’em Oh, oh yeah, because you rat ‘

Speaker 2: em out.

I do. Yeah. And you wonder why Peloton doesn’t talk to you anymore?

Speaker: Make me sign an NDA. Yeah. I’ll keep it quiet guys game. But you don’t, so anything I find out on my own is fair game as far as I’m concerned. Bear game.

Speaker 2: Speaking of, here’s Cody’s social security number.

Speaker: I would never do that to an instructor.

I would never do that to anybody. Well, there’s a couple people I’d do that to.

Speaker 2: I know you’re thinking of. And it would do no damage.

Speaker: Well, I don’t know that you do because it would,

Speaker 2: I was like, her credit score is already six.

Speaker 4: So,

Speaker 2: uh, pre and post ride, run and row stretches. Are now available on all equipment.

Speaker: Yeah. So all this means is like [00:13:00] before.

Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.

Speaker: If you wanted to do a stretch before your class and you were doing a bike, like a bike ride, right. And you wanted to do a row stretch, you couldn’t see it on your bike. Okay. Okay. Same with after. Now you can see all of them across all equipment. Okay. Which is how it should be.

Yeah. But, um, it’s weird because this actually happened a couple weeks ago, but for whatever reason, some people did not get the rollout right away. Right. Uh, so I wanted to mention it because. To me, it wasn’t really like this, this is not a big deal to me at all. I will do whatever freaking stretch I want.

When I wanna do it, I’ll just do it on the app. But like some people get really worked up about it.

Speaker 4: Yeah.

Speaker: And I guess not everybody has all the screens set up to be able to do it. Yeah. So I could understand that.

Speaker 2: And you’re trying to hop from. Equipment to equipment if you have multiple pieces. Yeah.

Yeah.

Speaker: Um, well that’s how you, that’s how you up your club Peloton status. This is

Speaker 2: what they wanted.

Speaker: And maybe that’s why they made a point to do it. Like for real. Maybe that is why they made a point to do

Speaker 2: it. Yeah. [00:14:00] That’s probably why the person got demoted.

Speaker: But regardless now you can take any of the classes that are for other modalities on whatever piece of equipment that you have.

Whew. We’re safe. Now,

Speaker 2: finally, yes. So we have date changes for studio bookings. We do. Yeah, this is for both studios. It

Speaker: is, yes. So, January 22nd through February 8th, I said March earlier. My bad. Blame it on being a boy do late last night. Somebody’s

Speaker 2: booking spring break and they’re like, why can’t I find it?

Is it because I’m only a champion?

Speaker: So, because the holidays are coming up and basically no one’s gonna be working at Peloton. The booking schedule is gonna be adjusted. So all classes that are gonna be in, in studio that you would normally go book January 22nd through February 8th, those and the January artist series are all released early.

They were all released Gotcha. At the [00:15:00] same time on December 18th.

Speaker 2: So it’s like the great land rush.

Speaker: Yeah. But also I think this is really good because there were so many classes available and people didn’t catch it right away. Right. I think that there are people that like, oh, I only needed to get this.

So you had more chances. Yeah. You, you had more opportunity to get to those classes. However, if you didn’t know, that sucks for you because now I’m sure they’re gone. Yeah. That drives,

Speaker 2: and you mentioned we were up late last night. We should say, if we sound like we’re dragging, we are. We made the mistake.

Speaker: Yeah, like we were just going to a

Speaker 2: concert on a Tuesday.

Speaker: Apparently we just cannot hang.

Speaker 2: And I mean, it was a late night. We didn’t get to bed until

Speaker: 10, 10 30. 30 30.

Speaker 2: 10 30. That’s

Speaker: okay. But when you get up at five Yeah, like that is early. It is early.

Speaker 2: So yeah, it was my birthday present. From September.

My birthday’s in September, but you know, the, you got me tickets and so [00:16:00] it finally rolled around. But, uh, if anyone cares, we went and saw the Lemonheads.

Speaker: Okay. Because, well, and so, so to me, the lemonheads have always been special because one of the very first songs you played for me was outdoor type.

Yes. And it fits you. To a tee, it’s to a t like it,

Speaker 2: it, it fits me so perfectly. It’s hard to believe I didn’t write and sing it. It

Speaker: it is, it really is. And so when I saw they were gonna be in town, I was like, okay, this’ll be fun. And I’ve never seen the

Speaker 2: Lemonhead, which is

Speaker: crazy.

Speaker 2: Uh, I, because they

Speaker: were big in the nineties.

Yeah. And I had, I,

Speaker 2: The tier big. Yeah. So the program director of the radio station I worked for at the time, I was just a young fledgling intern. Said he put me on the guest list and I went down there and I was not on the guest list, and then I never got to see them. And so

Speaker: that’s why you didn’t get to see them?

Speaker 2: Yeah.

Speaker: What a jerk.

Speaker 2: Yeah. And he only worked there for like six months.

Speaker: Wow.

Speaker 2: Yeah. And I don’t even remember his name. I just remember he was a dick. And so I, I was like, if the answer is no, you can’t get me tickets, then just like [00:17:00] say

Speaker: that, you just tell me no.

Speaker 2: Like it’s no big deal.

Speaker: It’s the radio industry.

There’s lots of nos. Yeah. It’s okay. Everyone’s grown up.

Speaker 2: Yeah. So Wells

Speaker: grown up as you get in radio. Well, too cliche,

Speaker 2: but, uh, but yeah, so I, so I had never seen the lemonhead, so I finally got to see the lemon. So thank you. I

Speaker: You’re welcome. I enjoyed it and I did record outdoor type Yes. For posterity.

Yeah. So I’ll be putting that on the Facebook later.

Speaker 2: Yeah. And if anybody wants to track that song down, I highly recommend it. It’s so great and it’s, it’s a great song. And it’s not like one of those 90 grunge songs where like. Because they’re not really a grunge band, but like, it’s not like, well, you can’t understand the words.

No. It’s like you would absolutely understand the words. And it’s me.

Speaker: It’s a hundred percent me. It’s like Tom’s anthem. It’s like it should just be renamed. I,

Speaker 2: I know. I did not write the song. I should still receive publishing royalties for its existence. I agree. Totally. So, but so, uh, moving along.

Why is the [00:18:00] Tread Plus

Speaker: mm-hmm.

Speaker 2: Not available in Europe.

Speaker: It’s a very simple answer.

Speaker 2: Okay. Let’s hear it.

Speaker: The plugin that is needed, because here in the United States, the Tread Plus has to have a dedicated two 20 volt open. Plug

Speaker 2: 2 10, 2 20, whatever it takes.

Speaker: But it’s, the point is, is that it’s dedicated.

That’s the point. Right. You can’t have anything else on that circuit. Gotcha. Well try getting that over in Europe. Good luck. ’cause

Speaker 2: their electricity is way older than ours. Yeah. Yeah. And

Speaker: they don’t have the same plugs.

Speaker 2: Right. Their plug things are very different than ours.

Speaker: Yeah. So like basically what you’re saying is every household that you want to have a Tread Plus has to have like almost a washer and dryer.

Like it’s that kind of. Equivalent. And so there’s less space in, in many places in Europe there’s less electricity like on the grid available and

Speaker 2: houses. I guess most people would probably actually just have, it would almost be like. [00:19:00] When we got a car the, a charger to buy an electric car. Mm-hmm.

Like we had to have new electric run in the house. Like a, like

Speaker: a new run. A

Speaker 2: new run. And so like, I guess yeah, people would have to do that for the Tread plus, which is going to drastically limit how many people are willing to spend that money.

Speaker: Exactly. Yeah. And that was announced just like this little brief moment.

It was just a real quick. Mention by Peter Stern when he was doing q and a mm-hmm. During the last quarterly call.

Speaker 4: Gotcha.

Speaker: And it was just like, just a real little blip. The other interesting thing is, ’cause somebody talked about like, how are you, somebody asked the question, how are you gonna grow in these other markets?

Speaker 4: Right.

Speaker: And the other interesting thing that I just wanna drive by and mention is the row. The row plus, therefore, mm-hmm. Because they just came out with the row plus, which just blows my mind. But anyway, those are not available in Europe because they’re not sure that the market is there for a row.

Speaker 2: Right.[00:20:00]

Speaker: That’s not nearly as good of an answer.

Speaker 2: We just don’t think we can sell ’em.

Speaker: They’re not sure. Yeah. You know, so, but a lot of people really want it and it’s. Frustrating for people who have like access to all this stuff, but then don’t have access to some of it, you know? Right. That, and I can, that is a valid, frustrating complaint for sure.

And I get that one.

Speaker 4: Yeah.

Speaker: So. I deem it valid.

Speaker 2: I will allow your emotions.

Speaker: Well, just some people are like rare over everything. Yeah. Over silliness. Yeah.

Speaker 2: Yeah. So, uh, there was an interesting article on LinkedIn this week, someone discussing exactly how Peloton converts newbies. Into long-term members. I wonder where they got this data.

Speaker: Well, it’s, it’s, a lot of it is available in their financials that they have to provide. Gotcha. Uh, as being part of a publicly traded company, like a lot of this is [00:21:00] there. Mm-hmm. And so for example, if they sell a bike and they sell the bike. For 1445. That’s how much it costs to make. So, so like, to be clear, they make zero profit on a bike.

Yeah. And then when they do the monthly subscription, they said that the average, they’re doing the average subscription link. This part, I don’t know where they get their data from. Yeah. That means that the subscription revenue per customer is 1672, which is. A subscription margin of 87%, which is 1455 in profit.

And then that, that’s why it’s super important that customers get past month six so that they are making money off that person. So if you’re not going to be around for, at least, at least six months, right, you are not a viable customer from a financial perspective. Right. And then they talk about, they go through all these different things like.

14, like how they bring people in. So [00:22:00] you get 14 days free. And then on the 14 days after that’s happened, they send out an email and it shows you, shows you the total rides, taken minutes, exercise, calories burned, and how you rank versus other new rider. So the subscription conversion comes down to if you’ve taken five plus rides, subscription conversion, 89%.

89%.

Speaker 2: So it’s all designed to stair step you into consistency.

Speaker: It is. But if you’ve only taken zero to two conversion rate, 34%, that’s how much of it. And that’s why it’s important and that’s why they push these things and that’s why they do programming to push you to do more things Right. And everything. So, uh, it’s fascinating.

Fascinating.

Speaker 2: Yeah. And then they talk about at a hundred you get your water bottle. And I was like, oh, it used to be a shirt.

Speaker: I don’t think, I’ve never seen anybody get, I didn’t even know that’s a thing.

Speaker 2: Yeah, I was thinking, that sounded new to me too. I was like, you get a water bottle. When did that start?

Yeah, I just thought I missed [00:23:00] it.

Speaker: I, no, I’ve never heard anybody say that, and I feel like I’m pretty plugged in

Speaker 2: now. I wonder if any of this is true. Do they just ask AI?

Speaker: Maybe. It’s hard to know. Yeah, it’s hard to know, but like I do know for a fact that hard, like they have said on, on the, the. Those calls many times that hardware is the important, it’s like the pull in piece.

Yeah, but the subscription’s where they make all their money. Right. They’ve said that numerous times. And

Speaker 2: I would think if you bought a piece of hardware, you’re more likely to stick around because you, you’ve also made this major cash investment as opposed to like, if you just sign up for the app.

With all due respect to. Users, but it’s easy. You’re not invested in the same way. Yeah. It’s easier to just be like, eh, not for me. Cancel, move on. Yeah. Where if you spent 1500 to $3,000 on a piece of equipment,

Speaker: a lot of people are gonna be like, I need to ride it enough to make this worth it. To justify that.

Yeah,

Speaker 2: for sure.

Speaker: I still go back to our original, like, you’re never going to use that. It’s gonna sit there and collect [00:24:00] dust like that. Yeah. And that did not happen. It did.

Speaker 2: There are some days I wish it did. Like when we go see a concert on a Tuesday.

Speaker: I know, right.

Speaker 2: So speaking of hardware Yes. Purchases.

Speaker: Yes.

Speaker 2: And when I said it like that, it sounded dirty. It did. Speaking of hardware. Speaking of hardware, yeah. Peloton. Sending out gifts. Gifts, not gifts.

Speaker: With a tea at the end. With a tea

Speaker 2: to people who bought new hardware.

Speaker: Yes. And uh, it was a water bottle. No, it’s actually not only a little towel. This is Peloton.

A little sweat towel.

Speaker 4: Yeah.

Speaker: But also a hyper volt go massage gun. Oh. Like. That’s not an inexpensive gift. Now I’m sure Hyper Volt sure gave him that to do. Cool, but like that is not an inexpensive gift. So

Speaker 2: I mean, just the shipping on that. In [00:25:00] today’s world.

Speaker: I know, right?

Speaker 2: Yeah. My God. Shipping is crazy. They probably did it ’cause they had a warehouse full of hyper volt guns.

They couldn’t sell ’cause of tariffs. They’re like, Hey, if we give ’em away, do we have to pay tariffs?

Speaker: It’s just a write down now. Yeah.

Speaker 2: So Pelotons year-end review is getting promoted even though as of yet. It does not exist.

Speaker: It’s true. I have to say though, this was a really cute video done by Charlotte and Mela, and they were going back and forth about who was, they were looking at their end of year review and they were like, Hey, you only took my classes this many times.

You only took my classes this many times. What the, and then like, just talking about like who their favorite instructors were and who they took. It was really cute. Yeah. And one of them has a, has a New York crush, but they didn’t say who, uh, it, I’m sure it was just. All in jest, but regardless, I was just like, wait, did I miss my end of year review?

Right? So I went to go pull up my profile and I was like, Hey, helper, be slash tipster. Does [00:26:00]anybody have their end of year review? No. I was like, why? Yeah, I feel like somebody just posted this early, right? Like I feel like somebody hit go. So I don’t know. But it’s cute video.

Speaker 2: Yeah, it was like, I guess we’re

Speaker: getting one this year.

That’s the good news.

Speaker 2: They were like, put it out the Tuesday before Christmas and then. If they got their days mixed up like we did?

Speaker: No, no, no, no, no, no. Like who did? Who got it mixed up

Speaker 2: like the sidekick. That’s why I’m a sidekick

Speaker 3: co-host.

Speaker 2: There’s no need for name calling, so we are gonna take a pause so we can fight, and when we come back we will have all sorts of things for you.

News about instructors Logan Aldridge has not won, but two adorable announcements. Adrian Williams Health scare. Tim Robards gallivanting across Australia. So stick around.

[00:27:00]

Speaker 2: Logan Aldridge and his girlfriend have made it. Instagram official.

Speaker: They’re so cute. We have decided we like her because she has a golden retriever.

Speaker 2: Okay.

Speaker: So I don’t know anything else about her, but she has a golden retriever.

Speaker 2: That’s all you need to know. That’s all I

Speaker: need to know. Okay.

Speaker 2: Well, speaking of dogs,

Speaker: yes.

Speaker 2: Logan had his dog officially certified as a service animal.

Speaker: Her name is Maple. Mm-hmm. And, uh, they were traveling for the holidays and so she has her, her little. Certified vest on and she was on the plane and so sweet

Speaker 2: and cute. She just curled up in a little ball there. I don’t feel like our dog would be that good.

Speaker: Well, she’s not certified as a sex animal. No. Nor

Speaker 2: should she be.

Speaker: I love her. She’s a really good dog,

Speaker 2: but she would just be too excited around all the people. Do you wanna pet me? What about you? Do you wanna pet me?

Speaker: And she likes to kind of howl about everything that’s happening. [00:28:00]

Speaker 2: She’s

Speaker: very vocal. Very vocal.

And she’s like quiet 99.9% of the time. Yeah. But

Speaker 2: when she gets excited, you are gonna know. And she does her little happy dance, and it’s adorable. But right now she’s just laying here like a slug.

Speaker: Well, she was up late too, you know?

Speaker 2: So Adrian Williams. At the, uh, OX event in Dallas had a bit of a health scare.

Speaker: He did? Yeah. He said that he was, felt a sharp pain and his vision on the outsides of his eyes went blurry. Uh, he says that instead of thinking it was nothing, he immediately made all the necessary appointments to make sure he was okay. There’s a company called Extension Health, uh, that’s their IG handle.

Mm-hmm. And, uh. One of the best facilities around. So this is also an ad?

Speaker 2: Yeah.

Speaker: Um, and

Speaker 2: he was like, Hey, if I post this on my Instagram, can I get out of the copay?

Speaker: Yeah. So they did all these tests on him and uh, he is going to be posting what he learns. In the next few weeks, so we will find out what’s [00:29:00] going on.

Yeah. With Adrian.

Speaker 2: Yeah. You want, you definitely wanna get that checked out. Hell yeah. Yeah.

Speaker: Especially when like, health is like your whole identity, right? And career. Yeah. Yeah. It’s kind of a big deal.

Speaker 2: So, uh, speaking of Adrian his show great things is.

Speaker: It’s back and it’s got a whole thing going on now.

Yeah. Like it’s all fancy. Yeah. It’s got a studio and music and it’s, uh, it, it’s all different now. It’s all different and, uh, so you’re going to enjoy that. The first guest this season was Chef Mario, who’s the son of owner, chef and Head Huff Hospitality at Beatos. Uh, and apparently that’s a restaurant in New York City.

Speaker 3: Okay. So.

Speaker: It’s like this is looking like one of those travel shows, like those travel food shows now. For sure. Yeah. So good for Adrian. Yeah. He’s got a whole thing.

Speaker 2: So Tim Robards, your new Australian guest instructor, has been making the rounds on Australian media.

Speaker: Yeah, he’s doing all the [00:30:00] morning shows, which is great for Peloton.

Yeah. ’cause he’s going on there and he’s um, he’s got his little Peloton shirt on and he’s talking about Peloton. So I think that. We were curious, like what was the main driver behind this guest partnership? Mm-hmm. And I think this is it. Yeah. The raising awareness right in Australia about Peloton.

Speaker 2: It’s easier to get him on Australian media ’cause they already know him and

Speaker: they love him.

Speaker 2: Right. Like

Speaker: I, I know people are very like not sure about him in America because. He’s different. Right. And we have to complain about everything. But, uh, the, it’s not

Speaker 2: designed for Americans.

Speaker: Yeah, guys. Yeah. It’s something not for you. Yeah.

Speaker 2: Jermaine Johnson, this is nice. This is cool. Getting featured in tech Radar for fitness tips for the 50 plus crowd.

Speaker: Yeah. And it was all like, like it’s a big feature. Yeah. Um, and tip

Speaker 2: number one. Don’t see a concert on a Tuesday.

Speaker: It was really pathetic. How tired we are. Yeah. Like really?

Speaker 2: And I had a good time, so please don’t hear that as me [00:31:00] complaining. He’s complaining. But Tuesdays,

Speaker: thank God they had a table. We could see that. Oh my

Speaker 2: God, that was delightful.

Speaker: We were standing and sitting on these bar stools and all a sudden the lemon heads are,

Speaker 2: yeah, not huge.

With all due respect to the limit heads. Yeah. Yeah. They were playing a room that seats about 500 people and I’d say it was. Half, three quarter full. Yeah. Yeah. And so somebody, right when it started, they, the,

Speaker: they ran down to be right at the concert, right at the right at the stage. And

Speaker 2: I was like, open table Yes to Yes please.

I’ll take sitting down over proximity any day of the week.

Speaker: Yeah. Like, we are so not the people anymore to run to the foot of the stage. Oh,

Speaker 2: I never

Speaker: was. Yeah. I totally was. But uh. It’s neat to have that energy. Yeah. It is neat to be in it, but like when you’re in your forties and fifties, you just don’t need that energy.

Speaker 4: Yeah.

Speaker: You know? Plus when you’re in your forties and fifties, guess what? Everybody else, the foot of the stages too. And they’re not dancing, they’re just standing there and nodding their heads. Yes. You know? So like that energy is the same in the back of the room. Yes. It’s like, it’s [00:32:00] fine. Yeah.

Speaker 2: So, uh, finally for this, uh, portion of the show, Christian Vanderbilt is.

Returning to PSNY in January.

Speaker: So there will be more classes to be filmed and hopefully we’ll get some more real ride, real route rides and some power zone coming from Christian.

Speaker 2: the latest artist series features up and coming singer songwriter. Taylor Swift Kelsey,

the birthday edition,

Speaker: I’m pretty sure it’s gonna be Travis Swift.

Speaker 2: Well, they can share monogrammed sweaters. How adorable.

Speaker: Yeah. How adorable. But, uh, this was a really fun surprise. So, Taylor Swift’s birthday is on December 13th, and also this weekend was the launch of her documentary on Disney Plus for the ERAS tour.

Mm-hmm. So it went through and [00:33:00] like documented all of the ERAS tour. Right. And so, in celebration of both of those things, uh, there were two classes that turned from normal classes into Taylor Swift edition classes. One of those was Mariano’s. 45 minute run. And Olivia’s 45 minute ride. And, uh, we will talk more about that in the TCO top five.

Oh, okay.

Speaker 2: Nordic Track has released a Pilates reformer,

Speaker: not just a Pilates reformer, the first connected fitness Pilates reformer. Oh, so that’s a big deal. Yeah, because people, uh, it’s, it’s really interesting to me. I cannot understand why anybody would want a connected fitness Pilates reformer. It’s just a preference thing.

But like Pilates reformers are ginormous. I would not want one. Whether it’s connected or it’s not connected, right? Mm-hmm. But like to have that big of a [00:34:00] piece of equipment taking up all that room is just not my jam.

Speaker 2: Right?

Speaker: But people have asked for it from Peloton for years, so

Speaker 2: it’s bigger than the row.

Speaker: I mean, it’s about as big as a row. Okay. But it’s wider than a row. Okay. And, um, so I’d say they’re about the same distance. In my dreams, tonal will come out with, uh, some kind of accessory that completes it into a, an official reformer

Speaker 4: mm-hmm.

Speaker: That I would get because I could use it with something I already have.

Speaker 4: Right.

Speaker: But like to have a whole separate piece of equipment like this. No, but like I said, people have been asking for one for years. It’s not like something you see hundreds and thousands of people asking for, but it’s a consistent ask. Right. Over the years, so. For Nordic Track to be the one to release.

The very first one I just find interesting.

Speaker 2: And there’s a story that we’ll be talking about over in the bonus this week about just how insanely popular Pilates have been over the last year. Like obviously Pilates has been around for a [00:35:00] long

Speaker 5: time. Yes,

Speaker 2: since World War I. Yeah. But, uh, invented in a prison camp, but don’t incorporate politics.

With your fitness show, but Pilates was invented in a prison camp. No politics there though. Mm-hmm. Um, but, uh, but yeah, we’ll be talking about just like, it’s just really just been on a rocket ride the last couple years of how popular Pilates is becoming. So we will have more data for you about that over in the bonus.

Yeah. While we’re on competitors, pure Gem, which is a. Brick and mortar gym.

Speaker: It’s a chain though. Yeah. Like, like they have tons and tons of them,

Speaker 2: uh, in their New York locations, or at least one of them they’ve introduced

Speaker: entry

Speaker 2: tubes.

Speaker: Yeah. This was just fascinating to me. So you go into this tube and it checks all your biometrics and then once it establishes you are who you say you are, then it lets you into the gym.

Speaker 2: [00:36:00] Yeah.

Speaker: Like otherwise you’re just trapped in a tube.

Speaker 2: Well, I think if you’re not allowed, they let you out of the tube. They don’t hold you prisoner.

Speaker: No, but it’s just, just, although if they

Speaker 2: do hold you prisoner, perhaps you’ll invent a new fitness routine like Pilates all comes full circle.

Speaker: Well I was thinking that like it’s, uh, it’s also a great way to like.

People who are trying to pull one over, like it’s a great way to like Yeah. Actually punish them. And like you now know who they are in other ways, right? Yeah. Like, you know who they’re not, but you also know who they are.

Speaker 4: Yeah.

Speaker: But yeah. And, and this says that it’s dozens of pure gym locations across New York City.

They used to be called Blink Fitness For people who live in New York. You might be like, what is that? So it’s, it’s a whole bunch of these though. And they just look like you’re gonna, and also it’s funny because it looks like those little bank tubes that you like stick a deposit in and it like suck you up.

Yeah.

Speaker 2: It’s the little pneumonic. Or not pneumonic. Pneumatic.

Speaker: Pneumatic, yeah.

Speaker 2: Tubes.

Speaker: Yeah. And so it also, that’s what they

Speaker 2: do if you’re not allowed to go there.

Speaker: I mean, I know they don’t, but that’s what it looks [00:37:00] like. ’cause you’re going in this little tube, but it’s like,

Speaker 2: and they just dump you in the Bronx.

There you go. Figure it out. I, uh, it’s funny that like, I guess this is one of those gyms that’s relatively unstaffed. Yeah. And this is their, you know it, it is also it fast. This is to me is kinda like the driverless cars. We will spend as a culture, billions of dollars

Speaker: to keep you out

Speaker 2: to make sure we don’t have to pay someone $18 an hour.

Speaker: Yeah.

Speaker 2: We can’t have this money going to human beings. Like that, that’s not allowed. But

Speaker: I also think like from a security standpoint, it also, like, I, I understand your point. I do. Yeah. And I’m not, I’m not negating that point. But I think that if you also have to deal with potentially having. People be hurt because they’re coming in.

Yeah, for sure. Trying to steal or, yeah, or just cause [00:38:00] mayhem. That is not something you’re gonna fend off with some person making 18 bucks an hour at the front desk, you know? And so that’s also a safety thing. Yeah,

Speaker 2: I was, I looked at the comments of this ’cause people were like, just like shocked and appalled at like the dystopian future nightmare of this.

And in the comments they were almost all people from. The UK that are like, this isn’t new. We’ve had this for a decade. Like the what? Why are you people losing your goddamn minds over this? Like, because

Speaker: we lose our minds over everything. Uck, everything. Yeah. They’re like, this isn’t a

Speaker 2: big deal. Like this is very, very common.

We’ve had it for a long time. You know what else we’ve had for a long time? Healthcare.

Speaker: Oh, there’s, they just like

Speaker 2: to rub our face in it. Uh,

Speaker: I don’t blame ’em. Well, I don’t blame them. Yeah. I really don’t. Yeah. We’re a real shit show right now.

Speaker 2: So, coming up after this, if you stick around ’cause we mentioned politics.

Oh yeah. You know,

Speaker: [00:39:00] sorry, it’s not the bonus. Taking care

Speaker 2: of people’s health. So political.

Speaker: Oh. Such

Speaker 2: a hot topic. We will have the, the content of the week. All the classes that, uh, you should consider taking. There’s so many. It’s like drinking from a fire hose. Well. We drink from the fire hose and then spit the good stuff right back at you.

Speaker: Wow. Or

Speaker 2: something like that.

Speaker: Yeah,

Speaker 2: that should keep ’em around. Okay. Don’t you think?

Speaker: No.

Speaker 2: Okay.

Speaker: No more. 10 30 for you. We will

Speaker 2: be right back. Concerts on a Tuesday. What were we thinking?

Speaker 2: it is time for the TCO top five. Mm-hmm. We have drank from the fire hose. Mm-hmm. Brace yourself. Number one. Your favorite holiday walk.

Speaker: This one has gotten so much buzz. So much buzz. It

Speaker 2: looks interesting.

Speaker: I think this is a lot of fun. It is a 30 minute Christmas Carol outdoor walk, and it is led by, or I should say [00:40:00] narrated by John Hosking.

Yeah. All of the roles are played by Peloton instructors. Oh, that’s cool. And people had a ball trying to figure out who was voicing what characters. Karen Smith loved this walk. She said it had a permanent smile. This walk had a permanent smile on my face the whole time. Not only did it bring a nostalgia for simpler times, but John and team did an amazing job bringing this story to life.

I had fun recognizing the different instructors, and it made the time fly by an instant. Peloton classic for sure. I love this. This is definitely going on my list.

Speaker 2: So were they actually like. Walking through the streets of London. It’s

Speaker: outdoor walks are audio only. It’s audio only. Okay. It’s audio only. I love the cover photo of this because it’s taken at Christmas time in London, right outside the London studio.

Yeah. And uh, so the cover art is just beautiful. It takes you right back. Yeah. I didn’t know if

Speaker 2: they did a scenic thing. ’cause when we were in London, we did like a walking tour of. Dickensian.

Speaker: [00:41:00] Yeah.

Speaker 2: London,

Speaker: which was so cool. Which

Speaker 2: was awesome. Yeah. Highly recommend. They, they took us to where, what they think would’ve been like the apartment or a similar apartment to where Scrooge would’ve lived and like.

Where he would’ve thrown open the, the shutters. The shutters to be like, you boy, fetch me. The largest goose

Speaker: from the market down the way.

Speaker 2: Yes. But uh, and

Speaker: the pub where Dickens wrote Yeah, it was, it was cool. It was

Speaker 2: really cool.

Speaker: Yeah. Yeah. Very glad we did that. So I

Speaker 2: didn’t know if they were emulating that, so No,

Speaker: no.

It was, it’s telling of the Christmas carol. Right. It’s, that’s what it is. But it’s.

Speaker 2: Do that next year, but scenic.

Speaker: All right, well, let’s just give them credit for the, no. Okay.

Speaker 2: Do it my way.

Speaker: True American.

Speaker 2: True American, right there. Yes. Number two, your favorite rock ride.

Speaker: Favorite rock ride, Charlotte Weidenbach is up this week and she had a 30 minute rock ride on December 6th.

[00:42:00] Courtney Bienhoff nominated this ride. She said it’s an unofficial holiday ride. It has a great playlist. Whether you’re in the holiday spirit or not in the mood, Charlotte’s energy is unmatched and the music will have you rocking out the entire time.

Speaker 2: Uh, number three, your favorite row,

Speaker: two weeks in a row.

Get it, RO

Speaker 2: Oh,

Speaker: I see. It was an accident, but I was gonna take it anyway. Uh, Alex has, Alex Kowski has gotten a 30 minute pop ride on the list. Kat Gotti shared her thoughts this week. She said It’s so motivating and a great reminder. We can do hard things. I love how Alex blends his storytelling into the whole row.

Speaker 2: Uh, number four, your favorite yoga. And Pilates class.

Speaker: Yes. So Johanna has made it to the TCO Top five Celestine.

Speaker 2: Congratulations. Your certificate is in the mail

Speaker: suitable for

Speaker 2: framing,

Speaker: and I should say pass guest Celestine. Mm-hmm. Uh, shared her love for this class, saying great energy. Beautiful flow, clear [00:43:00] instruction, amazing music and pacing easily.

My favorite class of hers so far. This was her premier yoga and Pilates class, and it was, uh, debuted on December 5th.

Speaker 2: Uh, and then finally your Unst stackable. It is a run.

Speaker: It is a 45 minute Taylor Swift, the ERAS tour run now. Oliver Long loved this class. Mm-hmm. He said it’s a great fun mix of incline, endurance, and interval efforts.

Mariana shares her love for Taylor Swift music and some of her biggest unedited hits from across the years. It’s a Must for Swifties. He also says to middle, to fellow, middle aged Uck runners, he put Uck. He did.

Speaker 2: Well done Oliver.

Speaker: It should be noted that a swifty in this context, I love this is a Taylor Swift fan and not what you say when you only have time for a quick post work pint.

Oh, that’s a different swifty. That’s

Speaker 2: not where I thought he was going.

Speaker: I love that little piece of uk.

Speaker 2: Yeah, [00:44:00] I thought, thought was gonna be dirty.

Speaker: No. So anyway. I have to go on about this class though, because Mariana has been owed a Taylor Swift class and specifically run for a very long time. Yeah, this was the perfect one for her.

She told amazing stories. There were magical shout outs to the one and only Ali on the run. Ali Feller, who has had the worst shittiest year. Yeah. Ever. And. Not only that, but the music in this class was perfect. Like, like if I had to design only a 45 minute playlist, I mean, Mariana nailed it and it included.

The 10 minute, all too well unedited. And Mariana loves Taylor Swift so much that she did not use any remixed versions. She let every song play in its entirety. Oh, wow. Which the instructors hardly ever do. Yeah. But it’s Taylor fricking swift and we’re gonna do it right, says Mariana. [00:45:00] So this class was perfection.

Even if you just like Taylor Swift. Tangentially. You will love this class.

Speaker 2: Okay. It’s

Speaker: amazing.

Speaker 2: Duly noted.

Speaker: Top one of any run I’ve done, like it moved to the top for me personally.

Speaker 2: That’s a bold statement.

Speaker: I’m saying it. It’s out there,

Speaker 2: It’s time to take a look at the radar classes that are on our radar and therefore should be on yours. Okay. I’ve deemed it so.

Speaker: Okay.

Speaker 2: Rising Pop is back.

Speaker: Yeah. We’ve got three new classes this week. One with Bradley, one with Olivia, and one with Mila.

Speaker 2: Uh, advanced flow with Zacharia. Yes.

Speaker: You did say that correctly. Sort of. So I wanna just caution people when he says advanced flow. Mm-hmm. They’re not joking. Like everybody that has taken a class with Zacharias loves him, but he moves very quickly. He is an advanced person already. Gotcha. So when they are giving you an [00:46:00] advanced flow by Zacharias it, they are not playing around like.

You’re be prepared to move. Gotcha. Because you’re gonna go fast. I’m sure it will be great. I’m not, that’s not a negative thing. Yeah. But like, I can’t move that quickly, so I would appreciate that warning. And that’s why I’m giving it.

Speaker 2: Gotcha. We have Robin resets.

Speaker: Yeah. We haven’t done a day one class in a while.

And, uh, day ones are back and this one is gonna be launching on December 18th at 12:30 PM Eastern.

Speaker 2: Bex Gentry has a progression run.

Speaker: 60 Minutes this Friday. It’s gonna be at 6:30 AM Eastern. So woo. That’s gonna be quite a way to start the day.

Speaker 2: Yeah.

Speaker: On a Friday. Ouch.

Speaker 2: We have new Hanukkah classes.

Speaker: We do. They dropped this week. Uh, some were already on the schedule and some just dropped on demand. Uh, and they just kind of popped up this week on the first day of Hanukkah. By the way, just wanna say it’s been a real shit week [00:47:00] for the Jewish community and uh, we are. We are here in any way that we can support you know, peace to all.

Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker: But, uh, the, the, I did take Anna Greenberg’s Hanukkah meditation. It was just beautiful. Mm-hmm. It was beautiful. I highly recommend really good.

Speaker 2: Okay. Peloton has announced the road to recovery. Shoulder edition.

Speaker: Yeah. This is an interesting because this is gonna be a program, that’s why this is interesting.

Uhhuh. Um, it’s for shoulder recovery and it is in combination, their partnership with HSS, so hospitals specialized surgery or something like that. Okay. For specific shoulder surgery, rehab, I thought this was interesting because. When it says Road to recovery, there’s phases, there’s like an intro phase, and then there’s a phase one and a phase two, but the classes are not all around your shoulder.

Mm-hmm. We were kind of surprised at that, right? Like first of all, a lot of these classes are old classes. [00:48:00] They’ve been on the platform and it’s like. Go walk. I mean, you do need to move right? When you’re rehabbing anything. Yeah. So I, I’m not saying that’s a bad thing, but I was just surprised because when you hear shoulder rehab, you think all these classes are gonna be on moving your shoulder.

Right. And they’re not.

Speaker 2: But I will say when you went through your physical therapy after you were hip of the car you know, you comment a lot of times about how they would have you do these things that didn’t seem like it was would affect. The part of the body that you needed worked on. Totally. But everything is so interconnected.

It is. It

Speaker: is. Yeah. And I, I, it’s not a criticism, it’s more just a fascination.

Speaker 4: Right.

Speaker: But it is technically a program. It is already on the platform. All you gotta do is go under platform, or excuse me, under programs and you will see it there. Uh, and it’s also seems to be led all by Adrian Williams, so enjoy.

Speaker 2: We have more Disney content for the Disney aficionados, of which there are. [00:49:00]Many, many,

Speaker: many, many. This is the special day of Disney though. The December 16th. So that was yesterday. I was just making sure. I was like, what day? Yeah. Is it? But they had two Disney rides. One was a Disney ride with Cody, and one was a Disney run with Susie.

And, uh, they said that December 16th holds a unique place. In Walt Disney Company, I don’t know if you know this, Tom, it is the date that Marks beginnings, innovations, and solemn farewells in 1929. On December 16th, that’s when Walt and Roy officially restructured into four separate companies, and one of which was Disney Productions.

Uh, two decades later, on December 16th, 1952, Walt Disney took another giant leap. He founded WED Enterprises. That was a separate company, but it was dedicated to designing and building his dream of Disneyland. Isn’t that fascinating? Yeah. [00:50:00] And then. Still more on December 16th. In 1983, Walt Disney World hosted the first ever Mickey’s very merry Christmas party, which is a blast if you’ve never been.

Speaker 2: It’s also funny that it was that late in the holiday season. It is. ’cause now it’s like those start like the day after Halloween. They

Speaker: do, they do. It’s so true. More recently though. The Rogue One. A Star Wars story premiered in theaters on December 16th in 2016, and on December 16th, 2022, Disney’s 20th Century Studios released Avatar The Way of Water.

That was the sequel.

Speaker 4: Yeah.

Speaker: Um, and then of course, Lillian Disney. Passed away on December 16th. Oh, in 1997, can you believe what a year? What a date that has been throughout the history of I didn’t realize she

Speaker 2: lived that much longer. I didn’t either than he did. I didn’t

Speaker: either. 97. Mm-hmm.[00:51:00]

Yeah, that’s what it says. And I trust this because, uh, we had help her be Elizabeth on it, and she, she’s a fact checker. Okay. So,

Speaker 2: okay. I know. Finally, uh, if you like the medal rides mm-hmm. Charlotte Weidenbach has some good news for you.

Speaker: Yes. She was answering an a MA earlier this week and somebody said, when are we gonna get a 45 minute to a 60 minute live medal ride?

Which has never happened. Okay. And she said, you might get very lucky next year, early next year. Mm-hmm.

Speaker 2: 45 minutes. So it means they’ll play one dream theater song.

And they’re done.

Speaker 2: And we have one birthday this week before the drought.

Speaker: Okay.

Speaker 2: There’s like no birthdays.

Speaker: Well, because the studio’s closed, so they were just like, they just

Speaker 2: told, they’re [00:52:00] like, we are not hiring. We can’t

Speaker: hire anybody. Anyone

Speaker 2: who’s born in this timeframe.

No. ’cause we know the clip out will be taking time off. Yeah. And it’s just not fair to them. Well, and

Speaker: Peloton iss taking time off. They went

Speaker 2: back in time and they told their parents. Don’t do it.

Speaker: Stop.

Speaker 2: Don’t do it. Wait two weeks during the month of 12 minus nine.

March, February.

Speaker: Okay, Tom, let’s go. Come on.
