Welcome to the Clip Out Podcast, episode 4 31. This is Crystal O’Keefe and this is Tom O’Keefe. Happy birthday, Tom. Oh, well, by the time they hear this, it won’t be my birthday. I don’t care. You didn’t say it last week as part of the birthdays, and so I am saying it this week. Happy birthday. Tom? Well, it feels weird to put my own birthdays in the list.
Birthdays. I know of that. That’s why I never do either. It’s always so, it always feels weird. I don’t like to post about it on Instagram either. Yeah, because it just feels like, yeah, look at me. Yeah, yeah, [00:01:00] yeah. Although that’s the entire purpose of, I know Instagram, but it still feels weird. It’s, it’s definitely a Midwest thing that like I always to get that to our, our Midwest is showing, yeah.
As the kids would say, we’re giving Midwest. But, uh, but yeah, like it’s so like, I don’t, like I put together the birth, the Peloton, birthdays every week. Yeah. I created our master calendar that tracks it all. You did. You did. And and so I’ll be honest too, I haven’t been posting the Peloton instructor’s birthdays, like on Instagram.
Yeah. It’s just like. We’ve celebrated them enough from like birthdays. Like, like I feel like I do it every year. Yeah. And it just, it feels very like, I don’t know. I think I’m just, I need some new freshness in life. Yeah. You know? And so, uh oh,
I posted your birthday. Okay. It’s okay. It’s okay. I was worried. Well ’cause over in the Patreon this week I have a, a subject, one of [00:02:00] the Uhoh is all about why our marriage works. It’s a new study uhoh that we’ll be talking about. And I’m I, now I’m like, uhoh did, maybe it’s not, was this something about birthdays?
Maybe I spoke too soon. It’s not about birthdays. Okay. But, uh, but yeah, so, um. I forget what I do first. Oh, shameless plugs usually. Okay. Usually you ask what’s gonna be in the show, but that is, oh, that’s what we do. Oh yeah. Okay. What do you got in store for people? Pray. Tell. Well, we’re gonna talk about these, uh, big changes that Peloton is rolling out to their APIs.
So third party apps like M Pace Line, power Zone Pack. How is that going to affect them? We’re gonna talk about that. Okay. Uh, we are gonna talk about if you got a Dick’s Sporting Good Floor model. You also got a little extra surprise, a little fun surprise for you. Yeah. You did. Yeah. Um, Peloton also adopted a new executive pay structure this week, which [00:03:00] is oddly getting very little attention.
Yeah. Which I think is interesting. They also celebrated the, the behind the scenes employees. There were several Latinx employees that they, they celebrated. Yeah. Peloton Row is celebrating three years. We’ve got lawsuit updates, we have instructors in the news. Some are not even Peloton instructors anymore.
Oh. Uh, we also have artist series that we’re gonna talk about. Uh, we’re gonna look at the entire October month to tell you all of the different artists. We shall be seeing a sneak preview, if you will. Yes, indeed. And you will. You, you will. Um, we have a little other connected fitness. Update. Okay. And, uh, we’re also gonna talk about the new content that dropped this week and birthdays, oh, whose birthday, what will we be discussing?
Happy birthday, Tom. So before we get to all that shameless plugs, don’t forget we’re available on Apple Podcast, Spotify, iHeart. Tune in wherever you get a podcast. You can get us. While [00:04:00] you’re there, be sure and follow us or you’re never miss an episode. If you haven’t done that, we’ll wait. Don’t wait too long.
They’ll think the episode’s over. You’ll think the episode’s over. Yeah. I’ll be like, oh, let’s, why is there this long pause here? Delete. You can also, uh, find us on Facebook, facebook.com/the clip out while you’re there, like the page, join the group our patreon patreon.com/the clip out. If you wanna support the show with more than just your ears, which you’re doing currently, but with.
Cold hard cash. We are there to accept it. We have a really fun. Bonus coming up in addition to our bonus. Before, before we get to the bonus, what, who Shameless plugs are these? I just, I took over. I took over. I do that. I’m used to it. I know. Sorry. Continue. No, no, no, no. Really? After you? No.
Really? Or like Chip and Dale? Oh, no, no, no. After you. After you. No. After you. No, after you. So, I, now I forgot what I was. Oh, the Patreon. It’s [00:05:00] five bucks a month. What do you get from that? Five bucks? That’s what you’re asking. They’re asking, you get ad free episodes, you get early episodes, and you get bonus content now more than ever or more now than ever, or there’s more We’ve been doing more so every week.
We recorded extra episode last week. Was it like. Nine hours. It was something that was really long. It was like 50 minutes. Maybe this isn’t a selling point for people I know. Maybe they’re like, oh dear God, no. Another 50 minutes. No, but there’s rabbit holes of plenty. There are rabbit holes of plenty we’ve been talking about.
Uh, leave it to Beaver. We finish Leave it to Beaver. We will be discussing what we’ve moved on to. Okay. So if you wanna play along at home, you can start your own binge. Yes. But as I mentioned earlier, there’s an interesting study about why marriages work, which is fascinating. Okay. And then, uh, we will be talking about the Berlin Marathon.
We will be talking about Peloton [00:06:00] sending out a yoga survey. Very interesting questions. Very interesting questions on the yoga survey. And, uh, what else? Uh, Charlotte and Myla are discussing the importance of sleep, which I am. Sorely needing right now. Mm-hmm. I woke up at like four and couldn’t go back to bed.
I know. It was very frustrating. Yes. I was so excited for my birthday.
We also have a bonus. Uh, last, last week’s bonus, bonus, we talked to Dr. Jen Mann, heard of her, of about unknown number, the Netflix documentary, but this week we recorded a new bonus with Dr. Jen all about fit for tv, the, the. Biggest Loser documentary that’s on Netflix. So, and that has not posted yet.
Yes. But it, as soon as I get to editing it, it will, yes, it is, it has been recorded for our poor Patreon listener. We’ve been talking about discussing this topic for like a month. Yeah. And we keep forgetting it’s coming. It’s coming. And then we were like, we should have Dr. Jen do it also. Dr. [00:07:00] Jen will be telling you, which.
Which documentary she will not be discussing. Yeah. Oh, so you can check that out. I wanna, I want a Dr. Jen Patreon special. We are gonna have to get her on the phone and get the scoop on that one. This is our own personal bonus episode. Hey. Yeah, we are. Yeah. So, uh, anyway, uh, you can also, uh, find us on the Facebook at facebook.com/the clip out.
Maybe I said that one on already. It’s been so long. Who’s to say? Uh, you can also watch us on YouTube, youtube.com/the clip out, and of course. Throwing lots of links at you and whatnot. Or if you just need a weekly reminder that we exist, you can sign up for our newsletter@bookclubout.com. There’s all that.
Let’s dig in. Shall we? We shall.
So Peloton has made some changes to their API, which is basically there’s magical digital pixies that make things work on the interwebs. I love hearing you talk about technology and [00:08:00] they got some new.
Digital Pixies. So what’s actually going on here is APIs basically just are the connectors of information between, I thought it was Asian Pacific Islander. No, I’m really confused now. That’s a different, that’s a different thing. So. The APIs allow third parties to gather Pelotons data from Peloton.
So, uh, in the case of Mase Line, for example mm-hmm. Which was the very first vendor that anybody knows about hat Tip and Pace Line. Pace line, Mase line, Paul Iodine. Yeah. He’s a longtime Peloton user, and what he did was he created an app that allowed you to go in and basically track all your classes and see like how you did in your class compared to what the class metrics were.
You could have history of it, you could put notes in it. And it has evolved over the years, like, like [00:09:00] Peloton has. Sure. So, so Paul has added several new features to this, but uh, the reason that we’re talking about this today is that Peloton recently came out with new parameters, new agreements for anybody that has a third party.
Application. Mm-hmm. So they said to m pace line power, zone pack. Anybody else out there that glbb onto this after these two did it? Hey, we’re going to change this so that now when you log out of your current program and you log back in there’s going to be changes to the APIs and if you want to continue to be able to get to our APIs, you as a, as a programmer.
Pace line, power zone pack. You will have to agree to the new terms. Bow down before us. Nobody said, said. That is what Peloton said. That was the subject line of the email they sent notifying them of the API changes. And apparently, uh, some of the changes. That Peloton is asking these programmers to make, [00:10:00] will, um, change the features that exist within in Pace line.
And so it would also change the kind of scripting that’s there. The programming would have to change. And uh, so some of these third parties, like in Pace Line, have decided to. Shut down instead of making the changes because they don’t wanna see the features change within their app. Right. Power Zone Pack has decided to go ahead and move forward and agree to Pelotons terms.
I do not know what these terms are because, um, everyone is like, Hey, we’re still in negotiations with Peloton, so we’d rather not talk about what these terms are, which is completely fair. Yeah. And, uh, right now what we understand is I can’t remember whichever one was a complete knockoff of, uh, M Pace Line and then power Zone pack, but whatever they are, they’ve decided to completely shut down.
M Pace Line has decided that they are still in negotiations, but that they’re not planning on making any further changes unless something changes with [00:11:00] Pelotons terms, right? Power’s own pack. Expects to move forward. So that’s what it looks like. Okay. Um, but we don’t know how those changes will affect power zone pack yet, or in pace line for that matter.
So. Gotcha. So in terms of end users, we don’t know what these changes will entail? No. We just know that the features will change, but we don’t know exactly how they will change. Now in the case of in Pace line, if they do not come to an agreement with Peloton. They decide to go ahead and shut down, which is the direction they’re headed right now.
As if nothing changes, that’s what will happen. Right. Um, then when you log out and you log back in at some point that’s just no longer gonna work for you. Gotcha. You no longer you’re no longer gonna be able to use it to add data. Now the data that’s already there will continue to stay in the app, um, but you will no longer be able to add classes going forward.
Gotcha. So do you think this is because Peloton wants to add some of these features to their own app and they don’t want it out there? It is one possibility, yes. I, I [00:12:00] do think that, you know, we saw a couple years ago when Team Wiler started to do their own power zone PAC challenges, or they don’t call it power zone.
Power, right? Yeah. They call it power zone. Power zone challenges, their own running challenges, their own everything. Right. Uh, it really seemed, you know, like. A big distinction mm-hmm. That things were changing and I’ve always been curious why Peloton would. Allow these APIs to be open so freely. Mm-hmm.
Like, it was always confusing to me. Yeah. Not that they shouldn’t share the data. Lots and lots of companies share, share data for sure. But, um, some of the people that have access to their api, I, I mean, anybody can have access to their APIs. Some of the people that use the access to their APIs use it in a, in a way that is.
Not helpful to Peloton. You know, they’re always looking at things, they’re stripping down their website. They’re just doing a lot of things that I don’t, I don’t think do Peloton any favors. Now when you’re just pulling your own data through there, I don’t think it’s a big deal. Right. But another [00:13:00] thing that I always found interesting is that like you have to sign all these agreements to use Peloton.
You have to sign all these agreements to use, let’s just say M Pace line or powers on back. Mm-hmm. But they don’t necessarily have to be the same agreements. Right. Yeah. So. When you log into M Pace line, you’re, you’re log you also then log into Peloton to pull your data into M Pace line. I have no idea what would be, um, information that could be concerning to be pulled in, but it’s just a little free for that to go through.
I was just always surprised that Peloton did that. Yeah. So I don’t know if it’s that, and I also couldn’t help but wonder, especially the week that it occurred, this week, we talked about in our last episode of the podcast that Garmin had allowed finely interaction with Peloton, but it’s only one way, right?
It only, it only broadcasts the information to Pelotons platform. Peloton can’t put their classes on Garmin, which is really what people want. Yeah. Like that’s really what [00:14:00] people want. ’cause they want all of their data to be in one place. Right. So it’s not, if you use Peloton and you use Strava and you use Garmin and you use, I don’t know, whatever, running or bike or whatever, you can’t make all of it go together.
So if you can put it all in Garmin now you can have everything hit. But Garmin’s really picky about who they will let into their, their sphere. Mm-hmm. Who they’re very, very picky about the APIs. They allow people to access. I can’t help but wonder. If Garmin is, they have to do this to do that. Yes. Yeah. If Garmin is the one putting pressure on Peloton to make these changes so that Peloton can continue to make progress with their integration with Garmin.
I don’t. Interesting. I don’t, that is completely conjecture on my part. I think it’s a fair theory, especially how they’re kind of seem to be happening in tandem. Yeah. And Peloton Hass been working on this with Garmin for a while, and we know that like originally the stuff that was leaked indicated that the data [00:15:00] connection was gonna go both ways.
Right? So then when they. Announced it and it only went one way. It’s like, maybe it’s not done. Like, you know what I mean? Right. It just doesn’t seem like it’s done. And Garmin does integrate with other vendors, but again, they’re very picky about who they work with. And Pelotons a massive platform to not.
Be available on Garmin. Yeah. And so it’s great that you can put your information on Peloton, but it’s frustrating. You can’t have your Peloton information go back to Garmin Connect. Yeah. And the way it is right now is a lot of people are actually frustrated with it because it ends up creating two entries for everything.
Hmm. Yeah. Yeah. So then you have to go delete one manually. So not great, not helpful. Yeah. Yeah. Well it will be interesting to see how all of this plays out. It will, yeah. And, and good luck to m Pace line. I hope you do find some kind of way to continue forward. You were the first, you were the one that has been there since the beginning of Power Zone and uh, like you said, hat tip to the entire team over at M Pace line For sure.
So Dick’s Sporting [00:16:00] Goods mm-hmm. Has been selling off the floor models of their Peloton equipment. Yes. And if you acquired a floor model, you might have gotten A little, some extra. Yeah. And that is. That you were already logged into an account. Dick’s Sporting Goods account. Yeah. And that means you don’t ever have to pay for Peloton right.
Now the downside of that would be you wouldn’t have your own me individual metrics. Yeah. Right. So a lot of people. Have chosen not to do that. They go ahead and count, you know, get out of it. But technically, any of these people that were already logged into Dick’s Sporting goods, bikes, or uh, treads, they were able to just continue to use it without actually signing up for Pelotons, which is kind of crazy.
Well, it tells me that people that working at Dick’s probably don’t have Peloton, so they never thought about it. They’re just like, absolutely sell the four model. Okay, cool. Here you go. And that was the end of it. Yeah. And while that would be a nice treat, uh, you also have, you know, at some [00:17:00] point if you get locked, logged out or if Dick’s Sporting Goods and or Peloton figures out what’s going on and forces a log out.
Yeah, you would’ve. Lost all your data, so Wow. It’s a nice treat. It would always be like the sort of dam cle hanging over your head. Yes, exactly. Exactly. But it was, I would’ve never used that example. But it is, it is accurate. It is funny that people take it home and like, oh look, it also comes with free Peloton.
How about that? I thought it was pretty funny because, you know, Peloton, when they sell these, like these refurbished bikes, or when you sell it on the third party, you have to this activation fee. Right? Right. You would think that, like you shut the bike down and you move it, there’s something that like makes it quote unquote reset.
Yeah. And it could, maybe it does at some point. Like you said, it just happens automatically. But for several people it had not occurred yet. Yeah. Peloton has adopted a new. Eh, pay structure for [00:18:00]their executives.
Yeah. I gotta say I’m a little surprised that this is just now being implemented. Yeah. Being that I’ve worked at many corporations over the years and, uh, just about all of them have had some kind of. Something like this, which is to say that they get a base salary and then they have annual bonuses that are tied to performance.
And then depending on how well the company did, uh, then there are payouts that range from zero to 200% of the target. Right now bonuses are set at 20% of the prorated base salary. By fiscal 27, the bonuses will. Increase to 60% of the base salary, but the base salary will decrease. So for example, this year, the current fiscal year, starting July 1st, that just occurred.
The executives get about a base salary of $850,000. Okay? Uh, then next fiscal year, that base salary will decrease to [00:19:00] 635,000. But presumably you have done a good enough job that your bonus would offset that. Well, and the bonus increases, right? So bonus 20% this year by fiscal 2027, they’re going. Up to 60%.
So even though you’re making less base, you have more potential to make higher dollars based on the performance of the company. So they are saying why are they making these changes to drive accountability among its leadership team, align executive goals with shareholder interest, and stay competitive with market practices.
And they are saying that it, the progress towards this is all part of the progress toward the strategic goals as recommended by the CEO. So I gotta say I’m really surprised it wasn’t already like this. I think they were just getting like stock options as bonuses. Gotcha. But like, I mean, even if you like, suck at your job or the company just doesn’t do well, 850 grand for one year.
I mean, I will take that deal. Even in New York City. Even in New York City. That’s good [00:20:00]money. It is good money. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. So it is, uh, Latin Heritage Month. I feel like I’m leaving off something. No, you’re not. I was laughing in my mind because, uh, you started to go there while ago and you like skipped over that story.
Gotcha. And then, and then like you were just like, and I don’t care about anything that is boring corporate stuff. Let’s get back to the good stuff. Well in honor of the good stuff. Yes. Peloton is spotlighting some of their Latinx employees, but I, I like this. It was some of the, the behind the scenes employees.
It’s nice when they Yeah. When they celebrate people that you don’t see every day. Right. You know, the instructors get a lot of love and rightly so For sure. But it is nice to see the people who are behind the scenes. There was, uh, marsh Marcio Oliviera. He is. Senior Vice President of Global Hardware Operations and Product Safety.
And, uh, he says he’s an immigrant and a parent of two girls, and it’s an amazing opportunity to sponsor an ERG and [00:21:00] connect to his roots. I think that’s really cool. Absolutely. Yeah. And there are several people on here, uh, Tanya. Oh. I accidentally zoomed in and I was just trying to scroll like calm down computer Tanya Lema and there.
Oh, these names are cut off. I didn’t get the whole thing. Oh, boo. Um, but this was over on LinkedIn and if you follow Peloton, you were able to see it. But there are several in several of the different employees across the company that are highlighted here. Peloton Row is celebrating three years. Yeah.
Ash Pryor posted about this and I couldn’t believe it’s already been three years. I know. Since they launched. That seems impossible. I swear. Ever since COVID happened, my brain is like. But it’s still 2020, right? It’s like, how long is my brain gonna do that? I don’t know how, it’s been three years, but congrats to the entire row team.
I can remember so clearly [00:22:00] being at Peloton for something unrelated and running into Katie at the studio. And she like popped out of one of the studios from recording Roe, which we had no official right notification of yet.
And, and there she was. She could walk around freely. She could, nobody knew. And so she was like, oh, someone recognized me. And I was like, can I get a picture? And she like was like, here, let’s do a selfie. And I was like, what? Because like. The other instructors who have been there for years, they are not, normally, not all of them are like as excited to take pictures because they’ve done it for years and they get swarmed when they of course walk around in the Peloton studio especially.
Yes. So like she was. Still in that sweet spot. She was. Yeah, she was. And what a, what a sweetheart she is. They all are. I love the whole row team and so, so neat to see that, you know, three years. I, I, it makes me wanna take more row classes. I’m like, I need to get back into that. I really enjoyed the triathlon.
That was a lot of fun. That was a lot of fun. Tom’s like, okay, I don’t care anymore. What am I [00:23:00] supposed to say? Yes, it was, I don’t know. It looked like you had fun. Yes. It looked like you had fun.
Peloton has won its bike plus trademark suit.
Again, how many times are we gonna do this? Oh my word. Yeah. This came out in Bloomberg this week that, um, Peloton. It says Dodges ni ninth Circuit, rehearing and Bike Trademark case. I didn’t even realize this one was trying to go through again. I thought this was Yeah. Thought it was done. I thought I was done too.
So, according to, uh, chat, GPT, which we all know is never wrong. Yeah, no. So. Yeah. Um, but at least they have links. That makes me feel a little better. The ninth Circuit Court had already issued a decision in favor of Peloton finding. There was no likelihood of consumer confusion. World Champ asked for them to rehear it [00:24:00] after that appellate panel ruling, and then the ninth circuit.
Denied the request for rehearing. They were like, nah, we already ruled. So I guess they have panels to expedite things and the panel said no. And then they’re like, we want the whole court to hear it. And then the whole court said, no, no. So now we’re, it says Peloton wins for now the decision in its favor remains in effect.
So, there is no further review by the full ninth circuit on this issue unless they appeal to the Supreme Court. Yes. And I mean, the Supreme Court is seeing a lot of really dumb ass cases right now, so you never know. You never know. You never know. But it seems unlikely. It does seem unlikely. Coming up after this, we got instructors in the news.
We’re gonna talk about a Peloton instructor going to Tonal.
We have an instructor dropping a new single, and somebody’s gonna be on the voice. But not in America. So stick [00:25:00] around.
As suspected and reported by us, Krista McGee will be debuting. At total she will. And you know what’s really cool about this, which I did not know. She’s gonna be a strength instructor. Oh. So it’s not just yoga? Not not yoga at all. Oh, it says Kristen McGee.
Begins her strength era. Oh, okay. And I’m really excited about this because I suspect that the new ankle straps that just came out are in conjunction with her starting, and I think we’re gonna see Pilates from Kristen. Oh, okay. I think we’re gonna be seeing a lot of new content on tonal that’s. I’m really excited about it.
Yeah, I’m really, really excited. Now she is listed as a guest instructor. She’s not working full-time from them, which means that her new app that just started, like you’re still gonna be able to get directly from Kristen Yoga classes, meditation classes, and who [00:26:00] knows, maybe some of that stuff will show up on tonal as well.
But right now, strength only. And, uh, we should also say, you alluded to that Appel, the tonal has put out ankle straps now for the first time ever, they have, I’m really excited about this brand new accessory you can add to your tonal one or two. It works with both. And they added a bunch of moves.
Now you could always add like aftermarket. Accessories and then you could do your own moves. But now they have added moves and they have added their own specific ankle straps and they’re tonal branded so that you can make sure that you are doing the moves safely and carefully and the way that will work best with the tonal.
Absolutely. And yours showed up. Oh my God. I guess car showed up. I don’t, I You probably won’t use them. Yeah, but I’m excited about them because you know, I grew up on moves like, uh, hamstring curls and donkey kicks and things like that. And being able to do those on the tonal in addition to squats is great because squats work, they work and those.
[00:27:00] Fricking Bulgarian split spots. God damn they work, but I hate them. Yeah. And having like options to be able to do different things and sprinkle it in there is just so nice. But there’s leg extensions, there’s leg curls, there’s hip abductions. It’s awesome. And that’s always been one of people’s big complaints about tonals.
They feel like it doesn’t have as many leg or lower body options. So this. Helps fix that. It does, it does. Um, one criticism people have been throwing out there is, it does not do hip abductions. It only does abductions. Oh. And uh, so that just means that you can only lift your leg out. You, like, it doesn’t do the exercise where you pull your leg back in and tonal said that, that’s really for safety reasons, in the same way that they don’t do back squats or they only do the front squats.
Right. It’s part of how the machine is based. And, I mean, you can do whatever you want at home, but the safe way to do it is what they suggest that you do. Yeah. Camille Ramon has dropped a new single. She has? Yeah. And uh, [00:28:00] so she had talked about, Hey, I’ve got this big exciting thing coming up. It’s new, it’s different.
Uh, and then she released music over on Spotify. So. Um, I don’t remember what the name of the song. It’s like, no, no eye Photos, which means there are no pictures. There are no pictures. Okay. Um, and I did not translate the music, so I have no idea like the lyrics what, what all the song means. I think it kind of ties into that bad bunny thing we talked about.
Oh, okay. Like the white chairs and the was like, take more photos. Yeah, I think, I think. From my limited memory of Spanish in high school and college mm-hmm. That the song seemed about like not having pictures of family and friends and, you know, to store those memories. Yeah. I think, um, I think, and then I believe it was Tunde that was also in the video with her, um, as a surprise cameo appearance.
And so they apparently had quite a bit of fun filming this and, um. I mean, it’s [00:29:00] really nice to see instructors doing different things. Yeah. And I’m like, this isn’t my kind of music, but I went to listen to it. Yeah. And I was surprised that it. That it, it was, I thought pretty good. I agree. I, and it’s hard for me to say that it was real, like, I don’t mean that as a backhanded compliment.
I say that as like, because it’s not my style of music, it’s hard for me to judge what’s good and what’s bad in that genre. Right. If it was a, a nineties alt rock song Right, you would be able to weigh in very comfortably. Yes. If somebody’s like, I wanna sound like local HI could be like, you are sounding like local h or.
You don’t sound anything like local, but I can’t, but I, like, I was not cringing. I was not cringing either. And, um, I, and I expect it to, I, I know some people were a little critical of it sounding like there was some autotune, and I do agree that at the beginning there is some sound effects, but they seem purposeful.
Right. It wasn’t like, oh, we have to adjust her, hide her voice. It wasn’t like that. Yeah. She has a very pretty [00:30:00] voice and it held up through the whole song. Yeah. You know, so I, yeah. I thought she did a great job. I mean, well, a hell of a lot better than I could ever do. I’ll tell you that. Same, I mean, I plus it takes balls to put a song out, especially when you’re not known, quote unquote.
Known as a singer for sure. That’s impressive. Yeah. I think it’s really cool when people put themselves out there. Yeah. And speaking of singing, cliff Dwyer is going to be debuting on the Voice in, not in June Derby debuting. Oh, it’s not a debut? No. Oh, he was originally on The Voice in Germany 10 years ago.
How about that? It means you have to fix the head, the, the line I wrote here, well, first off, my apologies for not being more familiar. The voice, the, the history of the voice in Germany. You’re not familiar with the voice in America. I know, but there’s even less reason to be upset with me for not knowing about the voice in Germany.
Yes. I was doubling down on that point. Yeah. Um, but yeah, he, he was, he was on the voice and he is, so, he is returning to the voice in Germany. Oh, we’ll go for him. Yeah. That’s [00:31:00] really cool. I, and I love this, seeing the different aspects of our instructors and all the different things they can do. It’s a lot of fun.
Uh, Alex Kowski is going to speak at a Cornell alumni event. I feel like I have to say the Cornell alumni. Cornell. Yeah. The name of it put on my thirst. And how The third voice, you need to get your little monocle out. And an Ascot. Yes. Uh, this is called Big Red Grit from Cornell Engineer to Olympian and Peloton Star.
So. Ah, there you go. Oh, that’s cool. No, it is really cool. Um, this takes place in Westport, Connecticut. It’s, uh, Wednesday, October 22nd at 7:00 PM And, um, it’s neat to see like, these are our guest speakers and they have them all fancied up and everything. Yeah, it’s, it’s neat. It’s neat to see. I think it’s exciting.
The latest artist series features the weekend. It does. Yeah. And that’s with only two E’s, not three. [00:32:00] ’cause I’m old and I feel like I need to state that. Yeah. You know, I know there’s a lot of songs by the weekend that I would recognize.
Yeah. But I don’t know their songs, like they just. Like they play, and I’m like, oh, okay. I do know this song. Yeah. But it’s not like, it would be like a song that I would play and I would be like, oh, this is the weekend. Same. I love this song. Yeah. Yeah. And that’s, that’s just the fun of getting old. Yes. Yeah.
If you’re not there yet, you will be. Mm-hmm. Someday you will be sitting here and you’ll be like, who’s the weekend? Yeah. And you’re. Grandkids will be like, but it’s all over TikTok. How do you not know this song? Except it won’t be called TikTok. No. They’ll be on a robot. Robot talk or something.
Whatever comes next. Yeah. Also, uh, we can take a quick look ahead at what’s coming out in October for artist series. Yes, we shall.
We got Ricky Martin. We do, uh, you know, you skipped right over the first week of October, so I’m just gonna go ahead and say it. Uh, there is no planned artist series that is currently listed for October [00:33:00] 2nd and third, and so the Tipsters. You know, we’re all hopeful. Mm-hmm. That maybe is something big happening that weekend in the music industry that I’m not aware of.
Even. You’re aware of that, even you. Yeah. Taylor Swift is going to be dropping her new album on October 3rd, so maybe, yeah, maybe. I mean, Peloton has been very like in the middle of like, they’ve been. Communicating and Right. They’ve been on the Taylor Swift bandwagon throughout this launch, and they’ve done lots of things with her in the past, so I am hopeful that would be so cool.
Instead of having to wait like six months, it’d be really cool if it came out the weekend that it actually dropped and there are a lot of things happening, and that’s the weekend with threes. Yeah, that’s right. ‘Cause there’s stuff happening in movie theaters. There. She’s releasing a new show and there are listening parties all over the country that you can go to like targets at midnight and listen to this.
She’s gonna be on, uh, the Graham Norton show that week. The day that it [00:34:00] airs? Yeah. Like as it’s, as it’s going live. She’s going to be live on Graham Norton. Like I am super excited. Anyway, sorry. And then Ricky Martin. Yeah. Ricky Martin. Yeah. Uh, October 9th through 10. Listen, I love some, some Ricky Martin, you know, and he has a lot of great songs.
And I a lot. Well, we gonna go with a lot. Okay. He’s got live in La Vita Loca and she bangs. Yeah, that’s the extent, like, my guess is he has a lot more hits at the format, but like, those are the two that I know that those are the two that I know as well. I, it now, I will say going back to Taylor Swift for just a second, Uhhuh a reason that that does not fit, that she would do it.
She has nothing to do with Latin Month at all. Yeah. So maybe not. I don’t know. We’ll see. That’s fair. Yeah. We’ll see. And then who else do we have? Panic at the disco. I’m looking forward to this one. I never can remember the song that I love so much. I write Sins, not Tragedies. There it is. Yeah. God, I love that song.
Close the [00:35:00] goddamn door. So I. I know nothing about the members of panic at the disco. Do they have something to do with Latin Heritage Month? I don’t. Oh, this would be when it’s over. Yeah, because, because it goes mid-September to mid-October. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Nevermind. Yeah. Retracted. And then we have.
I, I don’t know how to say this name. George Hoja. I was like, am I supposed to say Georgia or, or Hoja, but, well, that’s a great question because it’s British, so I don’t know. I’ll throw that wrinkle, man. I just don’t know. Our apologies, Ms. Smith. Yes. Yeah. Yeah, we’re, but she’s a British songwriter, singer songwriter, and, uh, she blends contemporary r and b with classic soul influences.
And her hits are things like blue lights, be honest and on my mind, which I don’t know any of. Not that means a damn thing. No. Uh, so. There is a very nice diversity happening here, though, with or without Taylor Swift. Yes. We’ve got a lot coming up. Something for everyone [00:36:00] coming up after this. We’re gonna tell you what’s going on in the world of Strava and we’re gonna check in with all the content that you should be checking in with.
It would seem that Strava seems to be exploring an IPO. It would, and this does not shock me, given all the things that they have done lately, um, buying up Runa and, um, they have really been integrating a lot of things. I saw that the new meta glasses that just came out that are for athletes. Right. I just pointed to my head like, you’re gonna know what that means.
Yes, they are. Um. They are meta glasses and they do all the things that meta does with their glasses, but they are also specific for athletes and you can wear them as sunglasses when you’re out. You can see all of the things you can see on your display with meta when you’re running and Strava just.
Linked up with them and now you can and take your entire run, film the entire thing and put it on your Strava. Like that’s so fucking interest. [00:37:00] Cool. Interesting. You know what I would want the glasses to do? What’s that? And then I would consider getting them what is, I’m scared. Link them to your Facebook page.
Okay. Which should be simple ’cause it’s meta, but never say never. Yeah. And then. He uses facial recognition, so when I see someone, it, it tells me their name. I think you can do that. Actually, I wouldn’t. That would be pretty awesome. Yeah, because I’m so bad. I hear you. I am so, so bad at names. Did you know that if you buy the meta glasses, regardless of what kind, you can get prescription lenses for them, huh?
Yeah. Yeah. Interesting. I think so. Um, but yeah, they are looking at so Strava is looking at becoming publicly listed and they have started talking to investment banks. They have been valued at $2.2 billion. So that’s a lot. It’s a lot. I dunno if you know that or not. It’s a lot, lot. It is half of what Disney lost this week.
[00:38:00]
It is time for the TCO top five. You told us your favorite classes and now we will tell you what you told us coming up first. Your favorite ride. The 30 minute Ride to Bravocon that was taught by Jen Sherman.
And, uh, Jen had some guests with her. She had Ash and Maddie and Marcel Dinkins. They were all along and um, they did some fun. Q and A in the middle of it. No. Andy Cohen. No. Andy Cohen. There was nobody from Bravo. I was so curious about this class. Yeah. Like I was like, first of all, what music are they gonna play?
I’ll be honest, most of the stuff that they played that was connected to Bravo, I did not understand at all. Like, I don’t know who this Countess person is. I know that it is, we, we don’t watch Bravo at all and we love ourselves Some, some trash reality tv. So yeah, I’m kind of surprised we’ve never gotten into it.
I think it’s because we like our reality TV to be. Trashier, like down to earth. Like, so, because you don’t need [00:39:00] reality people being bougie than you. Yeah. Yeah. Like, like we need them to have train wrecks on all levels. I don’t want the, I don’t want the aspirational trashy tv. Mm-hmm. I want the.
The there, but for the grace of God, go I trashy tv. Yeah. Which is why we’re like Love after lockup. Yeah. God. Every day Love me. Some Love after lockup. God, I love that show. Yeah. Geez Louise. I love that show. But anyway, Bravo. So, um, this was like all in a lead up to bravo con. Yeah. Confusing though. Because Bravo Con isn’t until mid-November.
So I guess they’re trying to sell tickets. Well, are they? Or are we gonna see more content? Yeah. Between now and then. And then I thought, oh, well maybe, you know, there’s been all these rumors swirling around that one of the instructors is gonna be on Real Housewives. Mm-hmm. And so, maybe they’re gonna announce, but no, that didn’t happen either.
But all quote unquote, all that happened was that we had the instructors on and then they each kind of had teams like for different shows, different properties within [00:40:00] Bravo, and then ask questions and then whatever questions that were answered wrong, you had to like increase your resistance or speed or whatever.
Yeah. Yeah, everybody was just a this is not my thing because I didn’t know it, but they seem to have a lot of fun. Yeah. And the only criticism I would personally offer is just that like Jen was very distracted and kept forgetting to like follow the cues. Like I had no idea what resistance we were supposed to be at.
She kept being like, if you don’t feel like it’s high enough resistance, add more. And I’m like, girl, I don’t know where we are. Like you never actually said, you know, I feel like I should say, ’cause I mentioned Andy Cohen. We’re, we always make fun of St. Louis. We do. Which is where we’re from. But, uh, Andy Cohen is from St.
Louis. He is. And we have gotten to meet him. Yeah, we did. We even got our picture taken with him. We did. I had to explain to you who he was. You did. Because we don’t watch Bravo. We don’t, I was like, this is a big deal. People would be, there are people that would be very jealous that we’re getting to do this right now.
Yeah. But both of us were like. Sure. I guess we’ll get our picture taken with him. That’s exactly how that We’re already [00:41:00] here now. We’re here. Yeah. I mean, he’s right there. And it was a really short line. It’s like if I was gonna meet a, a St. Louis Celebrity, John Ham or Jenna Fisher, those are the two. Yeah absolutely, totally.
But anyway, what was I, I was gonna say something else about this Bravo thing, and I don’t know where I was going, but, um. Well, forget I said anything. Nevermind moving right along. It was, it was taught on September 21st. Number two, your favorite meditation class. All right. I, I am the one that suggested this class.
Oh. Listen, the World is a shit show right now. Okay? Whether you agree with me or not, that’s okay. I don’t really care because it’s a shit show and I’m, I feel shitty. So whenever I see one of these instructors putting out a 15 minute meditation for anxiety, I am all. Over it. Kira Michelle taught this class on September 16th and.
It was so calming. She had great visualizations. We were in a forest. I forgot the rest of the world existed for 15 minutes. [00:42:00] It was beautiful. Like I think I may start taking this class every day. It was so good and so effective. Thank you Kira. Michelle, I need a break from the shit show. Uh, number three, your favorite Pilates yoga class.
This was a 30 minute yoga and Pilates deep core, taught by Anna Greenberg on September 2nd, and Hillary Malay lame. I said that wrong, Hillary, I’m so sorry. Hillary lame loved this class. It’s the first of its kind, but hopefully not the last I hear there’s four. Um, and, uh, she curated the nineties and two thousands playlist.
She switched between modalities, so you’d have like nineties over here, and then you’d have some two thousands over here. And then she added in some EDM in, in the middle. And, uh, you will definitely have your heart pumping, which I know sounds hard to do with yoga. Yeah. But I’m telling you, Anna is a beast in yoga, and you add in Pilates like it is no joke, that is 30 minutes of tough work.
Like, do not sleep on these glasses. Tough. Uh, [00:43:00] number four, your favorite stretch. Okay? Your favorite stretch was taught by Eric Yeager. It was a five minute post ride stretch, and it was taught on July 2nd of this year. Elizabeth Schlossberg, our very own tipster, oh tipster and also very much helper be she does both.
She’s very helper, helper bees. She recommended this stretch. She said, as with meditation, if you’re not stretching, you’re missing out on some important recovery. This post ride class had moves you don’t often see in stretching classes. It felt like Eric was bringing his yoga brothers experience to the class.
There was a lot of focus on balance, but it was also stretching. Definitely something different. And finally, number five, your unst stackable. It’s a ride. It is 45 minute hit in Hills Ride. It was taught by Hannah Frankston on September 19th. Michael Drn recommended this ride and uh, he said the class was something like 21 to one repeats, and the final 10 minutes were tabata 20 on, 10 off, plus a few hills thrown in for.
Fun. Hannah said. [00:44:00] Hannah said, and I quote, she was not being fun today. My legs were like jelly when done, but a nice jelly
Taking a look at this week at Peloton, we have the TCS New York City marathon. We do. And so the marathon’s coming up in November. You might remember from me talking about it incessantly last year. Oh, did you run a marathon? I did. I bet you remember that horse cab, don’t you? Yeah. It was still paid Or not a horse cab.
I’m sorry. Maddie Omo would just be so mad at me. Yeah, it was not a horse cab. It was a bicycle cab. I’m so, there you go. Sorry. We have pictures to back that up. Yes, yes. You remember that, don’t you? Yeah. Still paying on it. Have to send that guy like $20 every month. A lot of fun. This is a 45 minute marathon run class, and it is going to be dropping on demand today.
Your birthday. Your birthday. How exciting. I know you have a power zone endurance. Two for one. Yes. Two for [00:45:00] one power zone is a 90 minute two for one, and it’s gonna have Christian Vander Feld and Matt Wilber Saturday, September 27th at 7:00 AM. You got Vibe and Flow Club bangers. You do. And that is going to be, this is, we talked about this before, but I feel like people need to realize it’s happening now this month.
Alex and Chelsea Yoga Club Bangers. Not a combo I ever thought I would be saying, but here we are and, uh, we have benchmark strength. We do. And this one is taught by jj, which I don’t, I don’t know that we’ve had a, a round of benchmark classes from him. And there’s Adrian, Jermaine, Rebecca, Robin, and Selena are gonna be on demand throughout the week.
I also wanna just say. We talked about all the things coming up this week, you know, what’s not coming up this week? What’s that? A FO Usually Now, long time ago, a FO was held in July and it was originally all of the [00:46:00] instructors on whatever modality they were on together. Right. And then it, and then it morphed and it morphed into the all for one music festival.
And that was held different times and it kept getting later and later last year it was held the last week in September. We really thought it was gonna be this week because they didn’t, they had not. Ahead of time announced what the artist series would be, but as you can see, it’s the weekend. Yeah. Like the artist the weekend, right?
Yes. And uh, there was no a FO, so we guess it’s gone. Maybe it’s still showing up, but later. I dunno, who knows? There you go. Some other stuff to be aware of. Some other stuff. I don’t know how bringing the heat, just stuff light on sleep. I know, I know Peloton is celebrating Rosh Hashanah. Yeah, that was this week on the 22nd.
And Peloton dropped, uh, new classes on demand on the 22nd and they had some show in show up, um, after 8:00 PM that day too. So, uh, there was. [00:47:00] Robin and Anna had classes on demand. It was a walk and a meditation. And then I think there was one more. I feel like there was a ride somewhere. Yeah. Yeah. Jen had a new ride that was dropping on demand as well.
Uh, Christian Vanderbilt is back at PSNY with real route. Yeah, he’s filming a lot of classes. Like we said earlier, he’s doing the two for one with Matt on the power zone, 90 minute. He’s also doing a power zone recovery ride. And then, uh, he’s also going to be doing Real Routes Malibu Canyons. And, um, you know, it’s CVV.
So when we say recovery ride, right? Ooh. Bring some citrus, uh, Latin and Hispanic Heritage Month continues. It does. We’ve got two new classes dropping this week. Uh, the Zebras Alternative us. Alternative US God, I’m sorry guys. And uh, that’s gonna be Camilla, that was, that dropped on 9 22. There’s a Latin ride with Cody on 9 23.
There is icons. Latinos arms and shoulders with [00:48:00] rad icons, Latinos yoga flow with Mariana and various encores on demand from 2024 and earlier. Katie and Andy are back for another two for one. They are, yeah. And this is gonna be hit bootcamp. And they will be on the row. That’s Andy’s first time.
Teaching on the row. So she did one over there on the tread. I see. And now he’s doing one over here on the row. It’s like a Sadie Hawkins class or something. Well, you know, going back to the A FO not existing anymore. Right. I can’t help but wonder we’ve had all these two for ones happening left and right.
It makes me wonder if they were just like, that’s too much. Yeah. Like we let’s just take a whole new modality and let’s just pair up some of these instructors we don’t normally get to see. And you know, you have things like Bravocon with Jen Sherman and having the guest people in there.
It, I don’t know, it seems like maybe that’s the thought process. Yeah. Uh, Eric has his annual October Fest ride. He does, yeah. 9 24. And it’s going to wrap up a week long celebration at PSL. Callie Gullickson has bootcamp. [00:49:00] Yep. Uh, she’s gonna have a bike bootcamp back on 9 25.
One thing that’s interesting that I just wanted to mention is that Peloton recently dropped. YouTube. On YouTube, they dropped family fit classes. So the classes that you normally get on your Peloton app and everything mm-hmm. They’re on YouTube for free. Interesting. There’s a few of them. Interesting.
And they just dropped him randomly. Huh? Thought that was really interesting. Yeah, that is. Uh, Maddy Omo is getting ready to record his Halloween class. Yeah. He’s gonna be busy, um, over Halloween, so he’s gonna be prerecording it on October 2nd. I’m glad he’s still getting that in ’cause I know people dig it.
It is the like Maddie just goes all out for Halloween. Yeah.
Peloton is going to be hosting a live 5K. They are Saturday, November 15th at 9:30 AM Eastern. It is apparently gonna be taught by Alex, but it says with some of your favorite instructors. So as to the point earlier about multiple instructors, yeah. In multiple classes, we are going to have some other [00:50:00]people there.
We don’t know who yet. And if you don’t feel like you’re ready for a 5K. They’ve got you covered. They’ve got you covered. Yeah, they’ve got an eight week. You can run 5K program and if you start it by the 22nd, you will be ready to go by November 15th. So that’s really fun. And that program’s been out there for a while, but now it’s even easier to get to ’cause it doesn’t lock.
So you can take it anywhere. How about that?
And taking a quick look at birthdays. We got two this week on September 27th, we have Tobias Hines, and on September 28th we have Leanne Sby, Aldis. So, and I do Happy birthday.
I do wanna say just for people who are like, who Tobias has not been with Peloton for about a year now. Yeah. So he is past instructor. So if you’re new to Peloton, you don’t recognize that name. German instructor left about a year ago when, uh. Kendall and Ross and Kirsten left. So, yeah, happy birthday to Dobias and happy birthday to Leanne.[00:51:00]
