Transcript:
Welcome to the Clip Out podcast, episode 4 27. This is Crystal O’Keefe and this is Tom O’Keefe. I’m trying to remember. So yes, we had not dropped the kids off. The kids have been dropped off. We are, we are empty nesters. Boy, has it been quite the, rollercoaster. Yeah. I, I feel like I am irrationally angry.
Like I expected to be [00:01:00] sad. Yeah. I didn’t expect to be angry. And I know they say anger is a smokescreen emotion. I could tell I see a therapist, but, um, but like, I really don’t get what I’m angry about. That’s why it’s irrational. Yeah, I guess so. Ta-da. And, uh, personally, it’s, uh, like, well, you needed to get rid of the kids so that your, your entire house could fall apart at one time.
Like, I don’t know. I know, right. What is happening? It’s like we need a new roof. We need we have a leak in the house that we, we came home from dropping the kids off to a letter from the water company that says you’ve had a continuous leak since August 15th. Or continuous water running. Yeah, continuous water.
And they’re like, it’s probably a faucet or a toilet, but it’s not a faucet or a toilet. It’s not us. Not that I can find, not our sprinkler. No. And so we have no idea what the, what is causing the water. Running that we can’t hear or find? There’s no, it said that last month [00:02:00] we used 23,000 gallons of water and we normally use what, 9,000 like, like 8,800 or something.
Okay. And so, and like you would think that there would be standing water somewhere and, and, and there’s none. There’s none in the house. There’s none in the yard. Uh, you know, the, those sprinkler guy came out. He looks at the thing the sprinkler guy Water. Well, he looked at the water meter thing. Oh, the thing after he, after he checked the whole system.
Yeah. And he said, you didn’t lose water pressure at all, so there’s no leak. And then he like showed me the water meter and he turned off. Access to the house. Water meter kept running. Yeah. Which is not a great sign. Yeah. Then he turned off the curb stop and the meter stops running. So he’s like, so that means that it’s somewhere between the meter and your house.
You know your yard. Yeah. But, but there’s no water. But you would think there would just be like, our yard would be a swamp at this point. Well, the other weird thing is our next door neighbor got a letter on the same week that we [00:03:00] did. Yeah. Saying the same thing. So bizarre. Yeah, so bizarre. Uh, so I don’t know.
And went out to go start my car yesterday to run it up and get an oil change. The battery was dead. Battery dead. My God. What a week. I know. It’s, it’s Wednesday. This all happened on Monday and Tuesday. Hey, on, on the bright side. Oh, there’s a bright side. We got a free battery. That’s true. That’s true.
We did get a free battery because we had bought the battery from AAA the last time the battery died. Yeah. And so AAA came back out and they’re like. Oh, this battery’s a piece of shit. He sold you this and it’s like you, you did like see that sticker on it? That’s says aaa. That would be you guys and guy’s like, I guess he get a free battery.
You’re still under warranty. And we were like, do we want one? Yeah, so a leak that can’t be found. A busted car, a roof is shot. So this is probably a good idea. A good time. Yeah. To remind people about Patreon[00:04:00]
for just $5 a month, you can help a. A destitute, middle aged couple replace the roof on their home before it floats away. Like Huck and Jim down the mighty Mississippi. Hashtag GoFundMe. Yeah. Yeah. They’re like, oh my God. They’re like, hashtag Go fund yourself. Yeah. Really? So. But since I’ve already brought it up, we’ll do it slightly out of order.
Okay. Over on the Patreon this week we’ll be talking about High Rocks and Squat Gate. Yeah, that’s what I’m terming it. As opposed to Nipple Gate. Yes. Which I think we also ought talk about. Oh, we didn’t put it on the list, but we should. We’ll, yes. We need to re. Hopefully we’ll actually remember. Yeah, sometimes we say things here and then we get there and we forget.
It’s true. So fingers crossed. Jennifer, I think I feel good. You can remember nipples. [00:05:00] There’s two that come to mind. Jennifer Jacobs is talking shit about Serena Williams. Yeah. We will tackle that. There’s no one she won’t insult. Yeah. And an update on. Past instructor and country music superstar, chase Tucker.
All on the Patreon. All on the Patreon. Five bucks a month. You also get. Ad free episodes and you get early episodes. They’re coming out earlier and earlier. Yeah. So, but uh, in fact we haven’t recorded it yet, but it’s already been released. It’s there. Yes. It’s the magic of ai. So, um, what, I know I’m doing this slightly out of order, but what pray Tell do you have in store for people this week?
On the regular episode. Well, the instructors have been in all kinds of places that are different than what they normally are. No. Like Cody Rigsby was part of the Google Pixel launch. Yeah, we’re gonna talk about that. We’re [00:06:00] gonna talk about who was in Lululemon stores and not just who, but what. Oh, what Uh, and then of course, Peloton had to get in on the Taylor Swift information that came out this week.
Right. Everyone. Does. Yes, everyone does. There’s also some big sales coming out. We’ve got an article talking about Pelotons AI personalization, what’s happened so far, how people are enjoying it or not. Mm-hmm. Uh, we’re also gonna talk about what’s going on with the instructors. We’ve got injuries, we’ve got a new YouTube channel.
We’ve got live yoga. We also have some news about the, the latest. Instructor to de make their debut on the bike as opposed to where else they have been. Um, we’ve got new artist series, we’ve got a celebrity sighting, and of course we have lots of content to discuss and sales and birthdays. Phew. Okay.
Well before we get to all that shameless plugs, don’t forget you can find us on apple Podcast, Spotify, iHeart. Tune in wherever you find a podcast. [00:07:00] There we are. While you’re there, be sure and follow us so you never miss an episode. We’ll give you a second to go do that right now. Okay. Uh, also, uh, maybe leave us a review.
We’ll give you a second to go that right now. You can also find us on Facebook at uh, facebook.com/. The clip out while you’re there, like the page, join the group. Of course we already did Patreon. I won’t subject you to that again. That’s fair. Uh, you can watch us over on YouTube, youtube.com/the clip out when we remember to hit record on the video portion.
I did. Okay. Whew. I got scared there for a second. Yeah, I could see the panic wash over you. You were like, oh no. It’s the roof all over again. Our video software is leaking. Oh, well, at least I would be able to see that one. That’s true. Also, we throw a lot of, uh, links and stuff at you, and if you don’t wanna have to dig through the group to find them, you can get our newsletter by signing up for that@theclipout.com.
And when I remember, which is mostly weekly, you will get a little [00:08:00] email room, little list of just here’s what we talked about here. Links, we are still around. Hello. So there’s all that. Let’s, uh, let’s stick in. Shall we? We shall.
Cody Rigsby and Peloton helped to launch. The Google Pixel 10, and we’re assuming this was a Peloton thing and they assigned it to Cody Rigsby because, and I say this as a Google Pixel user. Mm-hmm. There’s no way in hell Cody Rigsby is not using an iPhone. Probably. I think that’s true. I just don’t believe it.
I don’t know because I pay zero attention to Cody Rigsby. Yeah. Other than what we talk about on the show. Sure. But, um, that sounds right. I will also say it was Peloton because he was wearing Peloton apparel. He was talking about Peloton and it appeared to be, I didn’t watch it, but [00:09:00] Nikki did. Right. And, uh, she said that it also was about, it had to do with the Google, Fitbit.
Mer not merger, but partnership Right. That occurred this year. So it was kind of like pushing all of that so it all, it makes sense. Yeah. That, that it was a. A Peloton thing, not a Cody Rigsby thing. Right? Yeah. Yeah. It is interesting. I wonder how they navigate that or do people even care anymore?
Because typically like it, it used to be, anyway, I don’t pay any attention, but it used to be like when you would post things like the little thing would stamp, like whether or not you using an iPhone or Right. When is it like using like the Twitter app for iPhone or whatever? Well, if you u if you email, it still does.
Yeah. But I don’t think anything else does. And, and only the email, like the Outlook version. Like I don’t see, I don’t see that anywhere else anymore. Gotcha. At all. I wasn’t sure how any of that works. You can only tell if you’re blue or green. Yeah. And it is still a very big deal. I know. I just got a text the other day that said I am, I wanted to take Tom outta this conversation because I enjoy the blue.[00:10:00]
Well, I mean, who doesn’t enjoy? I mean blue
blued but you know, it’s funny that you say that like it’s a downside, and I’m like, Ooh. People are going to take me out of group chats. Gasp. Let me clutch my pearls. Why? Whatever will I do. I like to keep you informed of things though because otherwise you have an excuse to not know things and I try adding you to slack and you will not engage unless every once don’t give you forget.
You pop in with little jokes, so you see it every once in a while. You just ignore it, you know it’s there. I’ll see it. The first like five words of a comment, then I’ll be like, that might be worth replying to. Mm-hmm. And, and only because it’s a joke. Well, ’cause I have a joke. Exactly. Yeah, exactly.
The rest [00:11:00] of it you ignore. You put me in the slack. I don’t know if you know this about the slack. It’s like all you guys talk about is Peloton, and I’m just like, why am I here? I don’t think this is for me. You host a podcast about Peloton. I’m a sidekick on a podcast about Peloton. Just for the record, I don’t know that I would call myself a host.
Well, you are it. It’s true. You’re a co-host. Chime in. People. Go to the Facebook. Am I a host or am I a sidekick?
We need to know. This needs to, is it hopping or jumping? Yeah. Well, I won the last one. Yeah, I was only on the Patreon, so nobody else knows what you’re talking about. I think I’m gonna win this one. Mm. We’ll see. I’m a sidekick. We’ll see. We’ll see. You’re the host. We’ll see. I’m the comedic relief that’s part of being a host, part of being a sidekick.
I’m too tired to argue. So the Google Pixel [00:12:00] 10. Yeah. Which I could use ’cause I’m on Google Pixel seven. Yeah. Apparently Sydnee iss getting a seven soon. Yeah. My Google Pixel all. Photos are s atone, so it’s about time. Yeah. Well, so you were influenced by Cody Rigsby. No, no, no. I can assure you that did not influence me, but, uh, but I do wonder, like I don’t, I I would bet.
100% of the instructors use iPhones. I bet you there isn’t a single instructor that maybe, maybe the the UK or German instructors maybe, maybe. But I, so I just, I, you know, and I like my Google Pixel, like I am, I am not talking it down. I’m just saying, I honestly, I think it’s probably they’re all iPhone just because they probably get the latest version of the app to constantly be testing.
Yeah. And you can only do that through TestFlight. Yeah. Which is [00:13:00] only on iPhone. So that’s why I moved, because I get option. Yeah. I get a lot of chances to do things like that. Right. So, so think of the instructors. As if they were your parents. Do as I say, do as they say, not as they do. Go get a Google Pixel 10 hashtag not an ad.
We have no promo code. We do not. I assure you, because we’ve tried, but Google does not know we exist. Google does not know. It’s so true. So true. Yeah. So moving along the Tread plus. Is available in select Lululemon stores gonna get yelled at for saying Lululemon. I’m fancy. I said that without any kind of humor the first time I said it.
Yeah. And because I had never heard of Lululemon, right when we first started this podcast, and I got so much shit. I don’t think we had one in St. Louis yet. We didn’t. We’re still wearing parachute pants. Well, back then we were, we have [00:14:00] moved to asset wash at this point, but, well, yeah. We’re not Creon, right?
Yeah. Um, but yeah, there’s, there’s select stores that, um, have tread pluses. And the idea is so that you can test out the new Lululemon split shift running shoes. Um, and it is only in stores until September 1st. But again, it’s only some stores. And some people were lucky enough to encounter Adrian Williams.
Oh. At a random Lululemon store, so that’s pretty cool. Yeah, that is cool. Yeah. Imagine just walking in and being like, oh my God, it’s Adrian. Well, I mean, it would only matter if you cared, you know, like if you were a Peloton user. Right. You’d kinda have to already be a, because if you’re not, you’re just like, there’s, why is this guy all sweaty on the tread?
Yeah. Yeah. Like, but he’s so nice like that. He would be like one of the best people to have in the store explaining to you how to run. Yeah. And like how to use the treadmill because he’s so friendly to people. Yeah. And he’s so open and calm. He would just be a really great. Visiting instructor, so that was really cool.
Nice [00:15:00] surprise. So in case you haven’t heard, in case your social media feed has not been held hostage by. The Taylor Swift engagement, Peloton decided to have a little fun with that announcement as well. They did? Yeah. They had a little ad that they did that said, um, look what legal made me do. And it had a picture of Taylor and Kelsey getting engaged and then it had little.
Little emojis over it. So you couldn’t really, it’s like you couldn’t see their face. Right. And that was the joke because legal made them put the faces over it. Right. And it’s also a joke because look what you made me do is one of Taylor Swift’s songs. Like that’s a lyric from one of her songs. Yes. I just know that, uh, shake it up.
One. Yeah. That’s the only one, you know. That’s the only one I know. Don’t worry. I got you. Okay. I, uh, I would not call myself a swifty because I am not constantly like searching for Easter eggs and things like that, but I, it’s like the swifties are like so into it. [00:16:00] Yeah. That. You, even if you really like her, you’re like, I don’t know that I qualify.
Yeah. I don’t wanna overstep my bounds and, and all women my age or within a decade of me all agree. Like, because like there’s people at work that we were excited about this, but like, we were all like, but we’re not swifties. Like we’re, yeah. We just like Taylor Swift. Yeah. We’re not like. Crazy Swifties.
You know, we’re not weird about it. Yeah.
Not like Tom with the monkeys. No. Swifties are way beyond what you do with the monkeys. They are way beyond. But there are people out there like that for the monkeys. Oh, I believe that. And most of them. Seem like they have other, other, yeah. I’ll, I’ll also say Taylor Swift encourages it and plays along.
She, and I mean that in the best way. Yeah, for sure. She’s like the, she’s like, if lost were a [00:17:00]pop star. Yeah. I, I love her. Clever. That’s actually one of the things I really. I really like about her as a person. Like, forget her music for a second. Either you like it or you don’t. Right. But I, I really enjoy the cleverness and the thoughtfulness like she is.
She’s genuinely a really smart, clever, thoughtful person. And I know some of that’s marketing, you know, people are making some of those decisions for her, but she has a lot to do with these things. I think honestly, she’s driving that chain. I think so too, by and large, because it started before she had a big marketing team, and so I, and when she saw that, her people were like on it.
She was like, oh, you guys pay attention. Yeah. And if it was, let me see what else I can do. And if it was as simple as just like the marketing team came up with it, then. You would see like 25 other pop stars doing the same thing and like none of them really emulate that part of it. ’cause I think it’s too hard.
And your mind just has to work that way. Yeah, and hers does. And like a marketing teams does not. And if they. Did [00:18:00] try it, it would just look really weird and fake and dumb. It would, and I also think it’s what makes her such a great songwriter because it’s part of that cleverness that she’s putting together these words in such a way that it, it works on multiple levels depending on where you’re coming from personally.
Yeah. And that’s also why I really like her. Like I have a lot of respect for her as a. As a human being. Like I, I think I know that there are people that just love to hate her. I, I will never understand why. Yeah. I just have so much respect for her. She’s just a really, really good person. Gives money everywhere she goes.
Like, I just think she’s awesome. I think all of us could be a little more Taylor Swift and the world would be a better place, especially. Our politicians. But anyway, anyway, Peloton had some posts. They did? Yeah. Uh, it was also Peloton adjacent because, uh, when she was on her on the podcast with her boyfriend.
I can’t remember what it’s called in the Heights or something like that. It’s not in the Heights ’cause that’s a whole different thing. But, um, when she was on the podcast, uh, last week or [00:19:00] whatever Travis’s brother has had a Peloton in the background behind him. Yeah, I saw that. And so, so like Peloton is definitely getting some love and enjoying Yeah.
That aspect of it. And so I think that counts as a celebrity sighting. Yeah, I think so. And and Travis Kelsey also has a tonal. Oh, does he? Yeah. We’ve, we talked about that over on the superset. Oh, really? I don’t even remember. Yeah. Yeah, he, uh, he had posted some stuff with a tonal in the background.
I mean, they’ve got great taste and I think he had a Peloton as well, but like, but next to the Peloton, like you could see that there was a tonal. That’s cool. Yeah. Also, um, they apparently have purchased their house in Cleveland, so I guess that’s where they’re gonna be living. Okay. So. That’s so weird. I know, but I guess his family’s from there.
Yes. But, uh, like it’s, I don’t know. It’s not what team he plays on, so it’s confusing to me. But I guess when you’re done, you go home. I guess I just thought you went to another team. I mean, I don’t know. Well, they don’t ever seem to, they don’t seem to stay on one team for a long, long time. [00:20:00] I think he’s big enough to where he can pick one.
He can pick, and I think he’s probably close to the end of his career. Yeah. They, because he’s 35. Yeah. And so is she, they’re the same age. Oh, okay. So yeah, I think when he’s done, he probably just retired. But but yeah, a lot of times professional sports players, they’ll end up living in the city where they played because.
They’re very well known there. Right. And they can turn that into, they’re gonna own a car dealership or they get an ab distributor. They, they are distributorship, they are opening a bar Yeah. In Kansas City. And we know that because, because my cousin is gonna be there on opening day and like singing.
She’s gonna be singing. Yeah. And, uh, and, and reportedly Taylor Swift is gonna be there, so we’ll see. Yeah. I’m gonna be pretty jealous if she gets to meet Taylor Swift. Yeah. I’m not gonna lie. Yeah, I get that. Yeah. But yeah, like typically the sports peoples tend to stay in that city ’cause they can. Yeah.
They can use that local celebrity status to. Maintain income in some capacity. I’m gonna go at it in a limb and say he does [00:21:00] not need to concern himself with that. I think both of them are okay. So if he wants to go back to Cleveland, yeah, well do, well they could just have, they could have houses everywhere.
’cause they, they can, they, they already do. Yes. So they’re gonna be just fine. They’re gonna do Okay. Hey, uh, select equipment is on sale through Labor Day. Yeah, and it’s um, the tread plus the tread, uh, the bike plus, um, and the bike are all on sale. Uh, and I just, well, I guess it’s just the bike, not even the bike plus.
So I thought it was interesting because the row wasn’t on sale, and I don’t know what that means. Yeah. I just thought it was interesting. Yeah. Yeah. And I think the bike is gonna, I still think the bike is gonna be phased out soon, so. Right. Um, I think that’s why it’s on sale. But the bike plus is not, so I find that very interesting.
Well, I guess ’cause the bike plus is probably gonna become the bike. The bike. And so they don’t need to blow ’em out. Yeah. But what does that say about the row? What does that mean? ’cause they don’t feel the need to blow out the row either. Yeah. If anything, that should give you confidence. If you [00:22:00] have a row and somehow you’ve been worried, will they maintain it?
Well, they’re supposed to have the row plus soon. Yeah. I don’t know what that means, you know? I’m just curious. Yeah, for sure. I have so many thoughts. Yeah. And it’s gonna be coming soon ’cause. We’re almost to September, almost this year has been simultaneously the longest and shortest. Yes. I think that happens a lot as you age.
I mean, did I send you the article about that? About you did, yeah. About how time feels different since you age. Yeah. And it’s because like you literally, did you just, I mean, we can talk about this in the bonus too, I guess, but, but basically the short version is that your brain does so many routine things that it’s on autopilot, so it literally is going faster.
Yeah. Because it kind of disengages, it’s like when you get to work and you don’t remember having driven there. Like that, but your entire life. Yeah. It’s awesome. It’s awesome. It’s like that movie remote control. Yeah. So, uh, finally for this portion of the show, Peloton personalization and you Yeah. So we did a whole article and by we, I [00:23:00] mean one of our, our lovely helper bees.
Yes. Uh, specifically Elizabeth, um, did an article about workout personalization that Peloton has put in place so far using AI and then asking the question. How is it working for you? So specifically, there’s every week Peloton puts out this little email and it’s like, here’s the personalized workout recommendations.
And what everyone has found is that they’re really not great. Like I think that they’re trying to get better. So I’m hopeful that over time these will get better, but. Sometimes it’ll be like your usual and then it’ll give you like an instructor you’ve never worked out with before. Right. Or it’ll be like for something different and it’ll be with an instructor you work out every week with like, it’s really odd.
Yeah. And sometimes they’re dead on and sometimes they just have nothing to do with anything. I feel like AI right now is, it’s in its MapQuest era. I would agree. Yeah. You know, and it’s like, ’cause like now. You throw on Google Maps and you, [00:24:00] you know that Google Maps is going to just crush it. Yep. But there was a time at the beginning when you were using MapQuest, you could end up in the middle of a lake.
Right. There were so many like weird things, and it would get you stuck in a loop just going in a circle like it was. So, you know, so it’s like, I feel like. Like, I know some people like to look at that and be like, see, AI is trash. And I’m like, I mean, at the moment. It has a lot of trashy components, but if you think in 10 years that’s not gonna get rectified and it’s gonna be everything you’re afraid of, you are sadly mistaken.
Yeah, it’s, it is terrifying. Yeah. What they are doing with ai, like there’s some really cool things AI can do. Absolutely. I’m on board with that. Yeah. But it is. It is like truly the stuff of nightmares that when it gets in the hands of the wrong people. Yeah. It is awful. Yeah. Awful. So it will be interesting to watch how this plays out and what it does.
[00:25:00] It, it is, and it’s interesting and Peloton is saying they’re gonna be coming out with so much more personalization and AI usage, so what is that gonna look like? So much curiosity about that in the next couple of months we’re gonna be seeing some of that. So Absolutely. So watch the space
coming up after this, we got instructors in the news. We’re gonna talk to you about, uh, Becks Gentry’s foot injury and Kira, Michelle and Utah City. Yeah. And what that means. Yeah. There’s a lot about Utah City actually, and which instructor looks like they could maybe be moving to the bike, so stick around.
Becks Gentry has a foot injury. We, she has been spotted wearing a boot a boot or if you’re Canadian about, she has a, she has a bout on her foot.
She has two full liga ligament tears in her ankle almost to almost full ligament tears in her ankle. Um, and [00:26:00] so there have been a lot of classes that have been, filled in by other instructors. Mariana has been doing. I I have been really enjoying. ’cause every time I hop on the tread, I’m like, Mariana’s here again.
Yay. It’s such a wonderful surprise. Um, but, uh, you know, Becks needs some rest and she needs to probably just like do that for a long time. Stay off that foot. I think so. I mean, ligament ligaments are no joke because they don’t, they don’t grow in the same way that like muscle tissue does. Yeah. Because it doesn’t have blood flow.
To it. So it, it is a really dangerous kind of thing, and it’s very slow to heal. So like, um, I, she was already back on the tread and walking, but I, I really, I sincerely hope so much that she takes the time to heal and really let her body rest and eat nutritious foods and just like do all the things that like allow her body to get better.
Absolutely. So Robin Arza has launched a YouTube [00:27:00] recipe channel. Correct. And so if you are like me, and for your sake, I hope you’re not, I feel like I should say this is not a repeat story. No, it’s not. I was very confused by it. ’cause I was like. Oh, didn’t we already get a YouTube recipe channel? But that was Peloton.
Adding recipes to their YouTube channel. It was, and then Robin Arza has been doing recipes, but not, and she came out with her recipe book, but not on the YouTubes. Right. And so now, and it’s called a. Eat a Hustler. What’s it called? I don’t know. Uh, let’s see. Hang on. He opened it. Eat to Hustle. There we go.
And just, just to be really clear her new cookbook is also called Eat to Hustle. And this YouTube channel is also like with her whole family making the recipes, I believe that are in her book. So it’s kind of all going together. Gotcha. Uh, it’s a, it’s a nice, it’s a nice thing. It’s synergy.
It’s not Taylor Swift, but it [00:28:00] is definitely synergy. Yeah. But dang, it takes a lot of effort to do all this stuff. Like people just don’t realize how much energy Yeah. It takes to like record and edit and post. And even if you’re not doing it all, just being on all the time. Yeah. Is exhausting. It’s a lot.
Kira Michelle is going to host a live yoga class in Utah City. Okay. First of all, it already happened. It was on August 23rd. Oh, it’s very nice how you read all these things. Um, I got more sucked into what Utah City was. Well, and that is, that is a great. Point. Um, so this took place, so there was like a whole day and you got a Peloton mat and you got 60 free days on the app.
Um, and there was a whole bunch of stuff by local vendors, but this was actually part of a much larger initiative. And that initiative is that Peloton gave away equipment to Utah City. So then. Nikki and I have to give all the credit to Nikki. Yeah. Went down the [00:29:00] rabbit hole of, what the hell is Utah City?
Because we were like, that’s a lot of equipment, right? Like an entire city, but it’s not a whole city. It’s just called Utah City. Right. It’s like a like, I guess like a pre-planned community. It’s, yeah, it’s exactly 700 acres. Mm-hmm. And it’s like a mixed use development. I don’t think they like to say pre-planned community anymore.
They don’t. They don’t. But, uh, so there’s like, they’re basically building a little mini city from scratch, but it’s walkable and there’s little shops and it sounds nifty. You know, it does, it does. It reminds me of locally, we have something called Newtown. It is exactly like U Town. Um, Disney had celebration USA mm-hmm.
Which actually the same people that created that created Newtown locally. Yes. Oh yeah, you told me that. But yeah, so, uh, where it’s like you have like little shops within. The city. So you’d have like, the thought is everything you need is in walkable distance, right? So it was like, so it’s green and Yeah, like four or five houses and then like, here’s a butcher shop and then yeah, another 10 or 15 houses, and here’s a little bottega.
Isn’t that adorable? It is [00:30:00] actually. And um, I thought it was interesting because I also. And just like, why this space? Like why did they choose? And I still don’t know the answer to that. And Peloton put out nothing about it. Yeah. So that’s weird too. Yeah. Um, because it’s not on Pelotons like press site it’s all on this redhead marketing PR is the only place that we could find anything about it besides Utah City.
Hmm. Um, so I just thought that was interesting. Kira has been spending a lot of time in Utah, just in general. Right. Um, and, and she’s been doing other, like yoga events out there. And, I don’t really know much about Utah other than that’s where Franklin Covey is headquartered, right? Which is where I work.
And lots of Mormons. Lots of Mormons. I wonder if this is somehow related to that. So like if, like if you get. The Mormon community on board, it tends to spread within that community very rapidly. So a lot of the MLMs, not the Peloton, is an MLM, but a lot of the MLMs like, oh dear, if you trace them [00:31:00] back, they’re very Mormon heavy.
And so I and so like, I wonder if this is kinda like, oh, if we can tap this market like. It would be a large number of people that we would pull in pretty quickly. I don’t know, because I, I know that there are Mormons that live in Utah, but I don’t know where Utah City is in relation to like the, the con Like where Like salt, like Salt Lake City or, yeah, exactly.
Or Draper, which is right outside Salt Lake. I only know that’s Provo. That’s, yeah. I only know Provo ’cause they talk about it. Fletch. Exactly. Um, so I don’t know much about that, but I just find it interesting that, you know, Peloton chose to do this and that they did it very quietly. Yeah. It’s not their style.
Yeah. It’s not their style. And it’s also not like some big social cause, which is the other big giveaway they tend to do is like, we are giving this to high schools or we’re giving this to, to colleges or you know, something like that. None of that, it was, I don’t know, it’s just very strange. All of it is interesting.
Yes. So. And we’ll never know the answer. [00:32:00] No, we never will. Never will. So, uh, Jocelyn Thompson rule made a surprise appearance on Hannah Franken’s Carnival ride. She did? Yeah. It’s the very first time that Jocelyn has ever been on camera, on the bike. Uh, they did note that during the class. But, uh, it’s interesting because with Cali getting pregnant again, so Cali Ferguson, when she got.
Is it Callie Gulls? Gullickson? I don’t know where Ferguson came from. Callie Gullickson got pregnant the first time. She said she was no longer gonna do bike boot camps, and then Peloton was like, yeah, but you are. And then she conveniently got pregnant again. That explains it. I’m sure it was just to end the bike boot camps.
So boot camps get you pregnant. Yeah. That’s what I’m gonna hear. But it makes us wonder over at TCO does this have a hint that Jocelyn will be doing bike boot camps because OB obviously. Jocelyn teaches a lot of strength classes and there’s gonna be a little bit of a hole there with the bike bootcamp.
So wondering, or will they just do less of them? [00:33:00] Because that was their answer before and maybe it is this time too. Yeah, I don’t, I don’t know. So it’s an interesting thought. Now we’ve seen this a couple of times now where Peloton has taken an instructor from a different modality and popped him in for basically just a surprise.
Kirsten Ferguson. Yeah. Did, uh, one with Jen Sherman on the bike. And, uh, also I should say that, um, Hannah Frankston then joined Jocelyn Thompson rule over on the tread. So both of they had like a flip flop two for one, and that’s what well, a little, they call that, uh, a Swapa Rooney. A Swapa Rooney. Yes. Well, and, and it’s not the first time, so it does not mean that Jocelyn will be over on the bike, but it just, given the timing, it does raise the question of we will see her again.
Perhaps in bike bootcamp form. We shall see.
Coming up after this, we’re gonna tackle the artist series. We’ve got a sort of kind of new celeb siding, but not really, and we will be giving you suggestions for classes and programs and whatnot [00:34:00]that you might want to add to your schedule. So sit tight.
September is almost upon us. Or if you prefer Tiz. Nai. You sure? You sure do. ’cause you said it a lot last week as we waited to take the children to college. You kept saying it. I said, Tiz, nai. You said the time is N Oh. And you said it multiple times. No recollection. It was just like, okay, I get it. It’s almost here.
And now that I’m on edge, the time is is un ni. Yeah. I don’t know what the past tense of n is. N The time is n now I got that, uh, Blondie song stuck in my head anyway. Uh. September artist series. We got a couple of them. We know what a couple of them are gonna be. We do, we do. We know that Renee Rap and the weekend are gonna be too.
Uh, we’re also wondering over at the clip out if we are gonna be seeing oh, what is it when they play a bunch of artist [00:35:00] series? Uh, yeah. It used to be all for one and now it’s the music festival, so whatever they call it now. Gotcha. The all for one music festival. We’re wondering if that’s coming up and we’re gonna see that.
Also, another guess is there, um, I think it was, I think the Gogo dolls are come, are getting ready to kick off a tour, so, okay. Wondering if that might be a surprise entry late in the month. So here’s another thought. Will Johnny Resnick or as he prefers to be called now, John Resnick. Oh. ’cause he’s all grown up.
Yeah. He’s so funny. He was so funny, so funny. We saw him play the arena a while back and it was him just solo him and a guitar and, but he was like. Legitimately laugh out loud. Funny. Yeah. The things he was saying on stage, which I would like The goo Now songs are so serious. Yeah. And kind of self important.
I didn’t expect him to be that funny. I didn’t either. It was such an a delight. Yeah. That whole concert was just fricking a delight. Yeah. It was amazing. But my, but I’m wondering, well, he maybe pop up in the studio. ’cause if you recall, [00:36:00] Mr. Resnick is, he’s a, he’s a user, he’s a Peloton member. Well, that’s a good point.
He was previously, yeah. Well. That’d be cool. Yeah, that’d be cool. So I’m just kind of wondering. Mm-hmm. But, but I’ve, I feel, feel kind of young and cool ’cause I recognize both of these Yeah. Artists. I don’t think that anybody of our age group is really into the Renee rap. Like, everybody’s just like, like nobody got excited about either of these. Well, she was in mean girls. I know, but I don’t think musically anyone cares. Yeah. That’s our age. We’re right. And she has a beautiful voice. But, um, yeah. I just don’t think it like hits in the same way that some of the other artists do. Yeah. But again it’s like you gotta do a huge variety because they’re all different types of people Precisely using the platform.
So just because it’s not a thing for me or people our age in general, doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t have them. Yeah. And, and I mean, Renee rap is very talented. There’s no doubt. I I also think it’s interesting that both of these artists, apropos of nothing had HBO shows. Oh yeah, because [00:37:00] she was on sex Life of College girls, which we spoke to the show runner.
He’s a Peloton. User. Yeah, that’s true. I forget his name. Jordan something. Uh, but he was on a, a while back. Yeah. He was, God, I’d forgotten about that. Yeah. And then and then the weekend had that show with the team that, I forget what it was called, it got canceled, but the team that had produced euphoria, it was a follow up to euphoria and it was very controversial and then kind of went away.
But I don’t recall that at all. Yeah. That doesn’t shock me. Yeah. But I just thought that was interesting. It is interesting. Yeah.
So Carrie Washington was getting some love from Peloton instructors on the Gram. She was, yeah. So first of all, the first thing that caught my eye about this, um, is that the outfit she’s wearing is a Peloton outfit. Like that is absolutely one of the new designs. Okay. Um, and so. Then I saw that several Peloton instructors were chiming in.
So Carrie Washington was talking about her running journey and, [00:38:00] and how that’s been and how hard it’s been to kind of get back into it. And several of the Peloton instructors, like Bex Gentry and a few others were you know, chiming in to give her kudos and encouragement. And so then I posted over in the tips, I’m like, did, did we know that she was like a Peloton user?
Because she’s gotta be right, right? Like to have all this love from the instructors and then. Investigator Nikki, that’s what she does. I know she found a post from 2017. That’s a long time ago. Yeah, that’s as old as the show. It’s, it’s, uh, and, uh, Carrie Washington was using the Peloton bike back then, and, uh, she was definitely praising Peloton.
So she is a Peloton user. Yes. Technically we knew this, but we had forgotten it because it was, it been so long. Had been so long. Yeah. So that’s pretty cool. It’s just to see somebody who’s a celebrity be part of the community that long. Right. That’s awesome. Wasn’t just a trend. No.
It is time for the TCO [00:39:00] top five. Your favorite classes picked by you to be favorites by you. Number one. Your favorite artist. Series ride. Yeah. So this class was taught by Leanne Haynes be Aldi. It was a 30 minute Be Gee’s ride that, uh, was posted on the 21st. Nancy Nelson and Santa P Present. I’m not gonna try Santa.
Um, she has a very long last name and it’s hyphenated. So I have double the chances of getting it wrong, of getting it wrong. Um, but Nancy said it’s all about the Bee Gees. This week Leanne’s Ride was so much fun and you could see the joy reading from her. And Santa said, I love this ride so much. The playlist was fantastic and made the 30 minutes fly by.
It was also lovely to see Leanne glowing and sparkling even more than usual. Uh, number two, your favorite yoga class. Bee Gees. Okay. Mariana taught a 20 minute Bee Gees yoga flow and uh, it was also posted on the 21st. And Andrea [00:40:00] Betten, Dorf, Jordan Andy eight used to be, I think she’s changed her leaderboard name.
Got it. Uh, she loved this class. She said Mariana gave us a chance to dance and not be so serious. Cory Brown agreed saying, what a cool vibe. So fun. And, uh, Pam Heimer also loved. All the Be gees classes, especially this one, and said it was so doable and put a happy smile on my face all day. Uh, number three, your favorite strength class.
This was taught by Selena Samuella, and it was posted on August 15th. Melissa Solan nominated the class. She said it was all unilateral work and you only need one heavy dumbbell. Okay. Uh, number four, your favorite ride. We’ve got, uh, Mila Lazar taught this class and it was posted on August 16th. It was a 30 minute, nineties pop ride.
Courtney Fields loved it. She said, Mila is such an underrated gem. This ride is sneaky hard, and Mila is clearly in her element and having a genuinely joyous time teaching this class. [00:41:00] And it’s in English. That is great. I think I’m gonna put that on my list. Okay. I really do. I haven’t done a bike ride in a while, and that sounds like a lot of fun.
Okay. And then finally, if you’re just looking to get your butt kicked, I. A class so difficult, you dare not stack it. We call it an unst stackable, and it’s Benny Adam’s first entrant into the Unst stackable list. Cool. He’s been on the list many times. Yes. But this is his first Unst stackable a 60. Minute eighties, ride from 8 24 Santa.
Uh, she loved this one as well. She said in addition to it being a 60 minute ride the class plan was excellent. The playlist was fun and at the end she felt like she had given everything she had. Great ride. Think I might put that on my list as well. Oh, two bike rides. I know this one is in German though, so I’m glad that, uh, it’ll be out for a little bit and have the subtitles on it.
Yes, so I can follow along. Benny is a vibe. Benny is a vibe. I guess, uh, let’s take a look at, uh. [00:42:00] This week at Peloton, we have, let’s see, lower body with Hannah Corbett. Yes. And can I just say they need to stop using this photo of Hannah because those leggings are flesh colored and it always looks like she’s not wearing any clothes.
That’s probably why they’re using it. Ah, it drives me nuts. Gets the engagement, I guess. It just looks so weird. Yeah. But anyway, uh, she has two, uh, recovery and strength sessions. Uh, one is a 10 minute foam rolling for hips, and another is a 10 minute bar class that focuses on glutes and legs. Those are gonna be dropping the 28th and 29th on demand, respectively.
We also have some new scenic classes. We do. Prince Edward Island, uh, dropped that is, uh, in Canada for those that don’t know. And one of our Canadian tipster was like, this is the most boring, tiny part of Canada. What the hell? It’s like, she’s like, it’s like two miles end to end. Maybe it [00:43:00] wasn’t two miles, but that it’s very.
It’s very short. It’s very flat. It’s a weird, it’s like if can, it’s like if Kansas was an island, but what’s what I, what I wanted to answer back was yes. And the one class they had from St. Louis was literally a bridge. A bridge locally that’s most famous because of a double homicide. It’s like, so we hear you.
Yeah, we hear you. And uh, we agree. They make some odd choices at times. Yeah. But there you have it.
Uh, you also have a long run with Jocelyn, 75 minutes, and it is now up on demand. So enjoy that. That was her first long run. That was 75 minutes. Oh, okay. And, uh, we got some new power zone for you. We do a new 30 minute power zone with Matt. It’s gonna be dropping on demand on August 30th.
Logan Aldridge has a new strength program, dynamic Strength Two, only available on Strength Plus. Yes. So, uh, we’ve, so far all of the strength pluses that have dropped, [00:44:00] only one of them has been on the Peloton app. The rest have all been on Strength Plus only. No, we still don’t know when it will be released to the rest of the world or to Android, but as soon as we know, we will let you know.
Alex Toussant had his first walk run. He did? Yeah. Um, I don’t have a lot to say about this ’cause I don’t really have any other details. It’s just he usually does either walks or he does runs. Yeah. This is the first time he’s done a walk and a run. So if you want to get chocolate in your peanut butter or peanut butter in your chocolate, this is your chance.
Here you go. Camille Ramon has an. Unofficial Spanish language split for you? Yeah. She posted this up on, uh, the gram and it was just a listing of three different classes that you could take all in Spanish. So it was a 30 minute glutes and legs from August 9th, and then there was a 30 minute upper body, and then there was a 30 minute full body.
So if you break that up and repeat it week after week, boom, you’ve got your own little split. You got yourself a split. And finally, Mariana Fernandez has meditation for [00:45:00] anxiety. First one of its kind on the platform, and I am really bummed that this was in Spanish because you can’t watch subtitles, right?
Because with meditation, yeah, that I like to close my eyes during meditation. So I will say this, please do if you are a Spanish speaker, Uhhuh, you’ve probably never needed a meditation for anxiety more than you do. At this moment in history. Amen. Tom. So, amen. Yeah, it’s okay that somebody else gets it before me.
I agree with that. And you know, Mariana’s the perfect person for that. She has been very vocal about her feelings. Yeah. About the current events. Let’s just say that. And uh, yeah, absolutely. Yes. Whew. I could get fired up, but I won’t ’cause nobody cares and they don’t have a. Meditation for you. They don’t.
So how am I gonna get calmed back down? Yeah. So don’t get, don’t get fired up. Yeah, there’s too much. There’s so much to be fired up about. Ah, you’re getting fired up. I know. I’m trying. Okay. Okay. I’m back. I’m back.
[00:46:00]
Peloton Apparel is having a Labor Day sale. So if you listen within the first couple days, you still got a shot. You do. And it’s 50% off site sitewide and an additional 50% off of sale. Um, that’s, that went to people’s emails. So that says a hundred percent. And I don’t understand that math, but there you go.
That’s not how percentages work. I know you do 50% I know. And then you do 50% of that. 50%. So. It’s a lot, but it’s a lot. But it only went to some people in email. Not everybody got that, so. Gotcha. But there was still a sale that is sitewide. So either way, and there’s an early access for people who got the email.
So there you go.
August is winding down and so is the onslaught of birthdays. We only have one this week. Oh, only one. It is Kristen McGee. Happy birthday, and it is on August 31st. Ah, what a gem She is. Happy birthday to Kristen McGee. So that’s it for this [00:47:00] one.
Until next time. Where can people find you? People can find me on Facebook at facebook.com/crystal dokee. They can also find me on Threads and Blue Sky. Is that right? Yes, that is correct. And Instagram. And of course, the Peloton Leaderboard at Clip Out Crystal. And you can find me on Threads and Blue Sky at Tom O’Keefe Jr.
Or on Facebook at facebook.com/tom O’Keefe. You do the duck dance on blue sky? What’s going on with that? It’s uh, the chicken dance. Oh. And uh, blue sky makes me think of birds and so I fly, you know how different parts of the country say some say coke or some say soda. Some say pop, some say sodi.
Yeah, some say Coke. Yeah. I feel like it’s like that with. The chicken dance, like I’ve always heard it. The duck dance. What? That’s never been called the duck dance. It’s always the chicken dance. I don’t know. Because you go B, B, b, I don’t think it ever actually tells you to make that noise. Oh, you’re just flapping wings.
And last I checked, ducks also have wings, whatever. I think it’s a chicken dance and duck dance has [00:48:00] alliteration. All right, well that’s two. That’s two. Ladies and gentlemen. Way in. Is it duck or chicken? Yeah. Where you live. And what was the other one? We’ve already forgotten. We have no hope of getting those nipples.
No, they were gonna vote about something. Oh. What were they gonna vote about? I don’t know. I don’t either. I’ve already forgotten. Yeah. So anyway, uh, you can find the show online at facebook.com/the clip out. I don’t know how you wouldn’t know that by now, after eight years of us saying at every episode. Oh my God.
If you don’t know, like that says more about you than it does about us. Well, not all of them have listened all eight years. Some people have popped in. And out and some of them just found Peloton, I guess. That is true. So, anyway, that’s it for this one. Hopefully we’ll see you over on the Patreon where we’ll talk about, uh, nipples and things and, jennifer Jacobs and her talking shit on Serena Williams. Ugh. Dear Godwoman. Dear Godwoman, indeed. So I think I’m just starting to think it’s [00:49:00] some sort of a fetish she just likes to get yelled at on the internet, but I don’t rage bait, don’t rage bait. Gotta get those clicks. That’ll do it. So anyway, that’s it for this one.
Thanks for tuning in and until next time, Keith Pedalling and running and rowing. Bye.
