Speaking as someone who teaches yoga, I love curating playlists that amplify movement. Sometimes the beats might surprise you; maybe an upbeat track feels unexpected at first, but then it seamlessly carries a flow. For me, music isn’t just background noise—it sets the pace, lifts the spirit, and helps turn inward by channeling out external distractions.
Some folk enjoy traditional ambient sounds and traditional practice , there is truly somethingfor all, but I’ve found so much joy in experimenting. From Brian Eno’s ambient classics to the euphoric vibes of Goldfrapp’s “Happiness” in warrior pose, exploring new music can completely transform your practice. How about you? Here’s a little tip from me for anyone still getting comfortable with flow tunes: try using a Buddha Machine or melody box. These small speakers play looping, meditative tunes that are perfect for grounding yourself during practice. My personal favorite features Philip Glass’s beautifully minimalist and soothing melodies—an absolute treat for both focus and relaxation.
