Class of the Week: New FTP Test with Matt Wilpers
The king of Power Zone training, Matt Wilpers, is back with a brand new FTP Test. For anyone serious about measuring their cycling progress, this is a can’t-miss session. The new classes are available on demand starting Monday, November 3rd, giving you the flexibility to tackle them whenever you’re ready to put in the work.
- Class: 10-minute FTP Warm-Up & 20-minute FTP Test
 - Instructor: Matt Wilpers
 - Availability: On Demand starting Monday, November 3rd at 12 am ET / 5 am GMT

What is an FTP Test?
FTP stands for Functional Threshold Power. It’s the highest average power, measured in watts, that you can sustain for a one-hour ride. Don’t worry, you don’t have to ride for a full hour to find it. The 20-minute FTP Test is the gold standard for measuring this metric. Your average output from this test is multiplied by 0.95 to estimate your FTP score. This number is your key to unlocking Power Zone training. It helps you establish personalized training zones, from very light recovery to maximum effort, ensuring every ride is tailored perfectly to your fitness level. The benefits are huge: it leads to more efficient training, targeted improvements in endurance and power, and measurable progress you can track over time. Learn more in this article.
Matt Wilpers is the ideal guide for this journey. His coaching style is precise, data-driven, and incredibly motivating. He breaks down complex concepts into easy-to-understand instructions, keeping you focused on form and effort. His calm, encouraging presence is exactly what you need when you’re digging deep in the final minutes of the test. Taking the dedicated 10-minute warm-up is crucial for priming your muscles and getting your heart rate up, allowing you to perform your best. The 20-minute test is a mental and physical challenge, but with Matt’s expert guidance, you’ll finish feeling accomplished and armed with the data you need to crush your goals.
