Peloton Instructor Drama: Alex Toussaint Calls Out Disrespect in Jennifer Jacobs’ Campaign

Last Updated: June 28, 2025By Tags: , , ,

Peloton instructor drama reached a boiling point this week after Alex Toussaint publicly responded to former Peloton coach Jennifer Jacobs and her controversial new marketing campaign with the fitness app Ladder.

What You Missed

Let’s catch up, shall we? Here’s what transpired this week:

  • Former Peloton instructor Jennifer Jacobs teased a return to the platform in a vague Instagram Reel.

  • She later revealed it was actually a promo for her comeback with fitness app Ladder, not Peloton.

  • The campaign included jabs at Peloton—claiming the bike was just for “drying laundry” and parking billboard trucks outside PSNY telling people to “ditch the bike.”

  • The internet wasn’t amused—and neither was Peloton instructor Alex Toussaint, who responded during a live run with a blunt, unscripted message.

  • While he didn’t name names, his message was crystal clear: disrespect his family, and you’ll hear about it.

A Misleading Tease Sparks Confusion

For those just tuning in: Jennifer Jacobs stirred the pot by posting a video of herself standing in front of an unbranded Peloton bike and claiming she was returning “to the world’s best fitness brand.” The implication was clear—many assumed she meant Peloton—and it sent fans, specifically her very loyal fans, into a frenzy.

A Reveal That Fell Flat

The very next day, she clarified that she wasn’t returning to Peloton at all, but instead to the app Ladder. To add insult to injury, the video included a jab at her former employer, claiming the Peloton bike was being used “to dry laundry.”

Peloton Instructor Drama Goes Public

Unfortunately, the campaign didn’t stop there. Jacobs and Ladder escalated their efforts with a third Instagram Reel—this time adopting a noticeably more aggressive tone—and parked billboard trucks directly outside Peloton Studios New York urging viewers to “ditch the bike.” The stunt sparked widespread backlash online, drawing criticism from both the broader fitness community and former colleagues alike.

Alex Toussaint Doesn’t Hold Back

Alex Toussaint, in particular, wasn’t having any part of the stunt. He spoke up, and out, during his June 27 90’s Run, making a clear reference to Jacobs without naming her.

“I love you. But watch your f**king mouth,” Toussaint said to his live class.

He made it clear he supports movement and motivation across all platforms—but also made sure to call out what he saw as disrespect toward the Peloton brand.  You can watch his full response in the Reel below.

A Final Word, and a Subtle Mic Drop

Alex ended his commentary with a tongue-in-cheek chef’s kiss apology to HR. But, hey, it’s not like she works there anymore, so he should be fine. And, if he’s not, judging by the comments on the Reel above, he has a legion of Peloton Members standing at the ready to defend him for saying what everyone has been thinking anyway.

Why This Hit a Nerve with the Peloton Family

While bold marketing isn’t new in the fitness arena, this latest Peloton instructor drama crossed a line for Peloton Members and Instructors. AT’s response—brief but powerful—served as a reminder that Peloton’s community values authenticity, respect, and support. And while people may leave platforms, the way they do it matters.
