Amanda McKinney’s Peloton Fitness Journey: How Cycling and Strength Training Transformed Her Life

In a recent chat with Amanda McKinney, bestselling author and Peloton member, we explored her Peloton fitness journey and its impact on her writing and well-being.

Discovering Peloton

Amanda McKinney is relatively new to the Peloton community, having only acquired her first bike two years ago. Despite her initial resistance to the “hype” around Peloton, she found herself drawn to it during the pandemic. Amanda shared her amusing aversion to trendy technology, admitting she still uses a BlackBerry and recalling her college days of carrying a beeper while everyone else had moved on to cell phones.

“I have something that the cool kids call hype aversion. Anything that has this crazy cult following or is instantly popular, I run the other way,” she said with a laugh.

A Life-Changing Transformation

For Amanda, the Peloton fitness journey has been nothing short of life-changing. It has seamlessly integrated physical and mental health benefits into her daily routine. Highlighting her favorite instructor, Robin Arzón, Amanda spoke passionately about the motivational aspects of Peloton’s guided workouts.

“The motivational speech from the instructors is a complete game-changer. After a few weeks of riding, I had a total cry, an ugly cry but a good release. Peloton is not only for physical health but also for mental health,” Amanda explained.

How Peloton Fuels Her Writing Routine

Knowing that Amanda McKinney is deeply invested in her writing, it was interesting to learn how Peloton fits into her daily schedule. She emphasized the importance of hard cardio workouts first thing in the morning to manage her anxiety and set a positive tone for the day.

“If I don’t work out or if I don’t have that hard cardio, by about 10 AM, I start having the jitters and my thoughts are a mess. Peloton has helped me get off anti-anxiety medication,” she revealed.

Amanda’s journey with Peloton fitness began as a way to improve her health, but it has since evolved into a critical part of her daily routine, boosting her creativity and helping her manage anxiety. Her dedication to her fitness routine has undoubtedly had a significant impact on her productivity and creativity as an author.

Strength Training and Expanding Her Fitness Routine

Though she started with cycling, Amanda’s Peloton fitness journey has evolved to include strength training, which she finds to be extremely rewarding and now considers essential for long-term health and longevity.

“Strength training is essential, especially as we age. If you could only do one kind of exercise to improve your health and longevity, it would be strength training,” she noted.

Writing, Inspiration, and Bestselling Success

Amanda McKinney’s writing career is as inspirational as her fitness journey. With a strong presence on Instagram (@AmandaMckinneyAuthor), where she shares quotes and insights, she has built a dedicated readership.

Her latest thriller, A Marriage of Lies, has secured a spot on the Amazon Charts as a bestseller. Amanda urges readers who enjoy domestic psychological suspense to give it a read.

The Lasting Impact of Peloton

Wrapping up our conversation, Amanda reflected on how her Peloton fitness journey has transformed not just her workouts, but also her mindset and daily life.

“Peloton is like therapy for me. The combination of physical exertion and motivational guidance has changed my life,” she affirmed.
