Matt Wilpers HYROX Miami Announcement Was Always Inevitable
Matt Wilpers HYROX Miami is now on the calendar. The Peloton instructor announced during a live ride on March 14, 2026 that he will compete in the Legendz HYROX Miami Beach event, scheduled for April 3-5, 2026 at the Miami Beach Convention Center. The announcement came just one day before he ran the 2026 United Airlines NYC Half Marathon. The man is clearly not resting.
Peloton Instructors Keep “Drinking the HYROX Kool-Aid”
Matt is not the first Peloton instructor to step off the platform and onto the HYROX race floor. Several colleagues have already made the jump, and the list keeps growing (Chelsea also recently announced her intentions during her live class on 3/15/2026!).
Robin Arzon competed at the HYROX NYC race in June 2024, training in the lead-up to the event and sharing her preparation publicly. She is also one of two Certified HYROX Performance Coaches on the Peloton instructor roster, alongside Andy Speer, and co-leads the platform’s 12-week HYROX Training Program. Benny Adami documented his own HYROX training journey on Instagram and competed in a race in September 2024. See more. Andy has gone deepest into the HYROX ecosystem beyond just competing. He led the Peloton x HYROX Power-Up DC event in March 2026, hosting a mobility class and Q&A session for athletes preparing for the HYROX Americas Regional Championships.

Ash recently competed at HYROX Las Vegas in the Doubles category, alongside Peloton member Erin Grignon. She balanced competitive drive with her trademark style, even sharing a lighthearted post about not losing a nail during the event. See more. Additionally, Logan, Adrian, and Joslyn are among other Peloton instructors who embrace the HYROX life.
Matt’s HYROX announcement makes him the latest to take the plunge, and given his athletic background, he will be well prepared!
What HYROX Is
HYROX is a standardized global fitness race that combines running with functional workout stations. Each event follows the same structure: a 1-kilometer run followed by a functional station, repeated eight times. The stations include the ski erg, sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jumps, rowing, farmer’s carry, sandbag lunges, and wall balls. Because the format is identical at every event worldwide, athletes can compare results on a global leaderboard regardless of where they race.
Miami Beach is one of the marquee North American stops on the 2026 calendar, drawing competitors from across the southeastern US and internationally.

Matt Wilpers HYROX: Why the Format Fits
Matt is already part of Peloton’s official HYROX story. He is one of 12 instructors who contributed to Peloton’s 12-week HYROX Training Program, which Robin and Andy Speer co-lead. His role in the program focused on the running component, a natural fit given his background.
That background makes the format a logical next step. Matt competed as an NCAA Division I distance runner at Georgia State University and has since completed Ironman-distance triathlons. He is a certified running coach who has spent years guiding members through serious running programming, and the combination of sustained running with functional strength work maps directly onto that history.
He is also always focused on his own performance metrics. He recently completed an FTP retest, sharing video of himself working through the effort as part of his ongoing training. That kind of personal investment in measuring fitness is consistent with someone who shows up to races prepared.
Which Division Might He Enter?
Matt has not publicly confirmed his division as of this writing. That said, his athletic profile makes it worth some informed speculation. We expect to see him in the Men’s 40-44 age group. That is a competitive bracket, and one where his aerobic engine and distance running background would be genuine assets.
As for competition level, Men’s Open is the standard entry point and the most common choice for a first HYROX race, even for experienced athletes. Men’s Pro carries heavier station weights and is the path toward world championship qualification. Given his history of Ironman-distance racing and a clear pattern of setting serious athletic goals, Pro is not out of the question, though Open is the more typical first-race choice.
We’ll see where he lands!
Where to Follow Matt Wilpers HYROX Results
HYROX publishes official results through its platform at hyresult.com, where you can search finishing times by event and division. For Peloton members working through the Peloton HYROX Training Program or following TCO’s coverage of how that program expanded to include gym workouts, watching Matt race the format in real life (well, on his IG) is a compelling payoff. You can also get background on how the Peloton and HYROX partnership first came together.
The competition is April 3-5, 2026. Keep an eye on Matt’s social channels as the date approaches. To paraphrase one of his aphorisms, “a plan without a goal is just a wish.” We can’t wait to see him crush his latest goal!
