“Honesty Time” With Becs
Becs has shared a lot about her training for The Great World Race, but has been silent on her fueling strategy. A recent Instagram post shared why: “it’s just not something that sits right with [her] to do.” Becs shared her personal struggles with an eating disorder and how she transformed her life. Let’s dive into what she had to say and why this message is so powerful.

“She was really unwell.”
Becs shared two photos in her post. The first photo shows a smiling Becs, but behind that smile was a woman struggling with an eating disorder. She admitted she was unwell, trapped in a bad relationship, and battling depression. She was hiding her pain from everyone around her. Sound familiar? Many of us have been there, putting on a brave face while battling inner demons.
In her own words, Becs said, “The girl in the first photo might look smiley and happy but she wasn’t, she was really unwell. I had an eating disorder and was mostly focused on being as small as I could be.” It’s a stark reminder that appearances can be deceiving.
“I had to be brave.”
Becs’ turning point came when she visited her aunt Jenn and uncle David in Florida. She realized she had the power to control her future, but it required bravery and significant changes. Becs left a bad relationship, quit her job, went back to school, and moved cities. It wasn’t easy, but it saved her life.
She writes, “I heard that I could be in control of my future but I had to be brave and make a few changes. Gosh, it sounds simple writing it now but trust me it wasn’t at the time.”

Fast forward to today, and Becs is a picture of health and happiness. She has spent the past 12 years honing her nutrition and training for various running distances. She emphasizes that she works with a nutritionist to find what works best for her, and she’s still learning every day.
Becs wants her followers to know that she isn’t ignoring their questions about her diet out of rudeness. Instead, she believes that what works for her might not work for others. “I’m not being rude by not sharing my daily food intake, it’s just not something that sits right with me to do. What works for me may be awful for you, we are different, and that’s a beautiful thing.”
Training for the Great World Race
Now, Becs is gearing up for an incredible challenge – the Great World Race. Starting November 15th, she’ll be running 7 marathons in 7 days across 7 continents! Here’s the schedule:
- November 15th: Wolf’s Fang, Antarctica
- November 16th: Cape Town, South Africa
- November 17th: Perth, Australia
- November 18th: Istanbul, Asia
- November 19th: Istanbul, Europe
- November 20th: Cartagena, South America
- November 21st: Miami, North America
It’s a grueling schedule, but if anyone can conquer it, it’s Becs!

“I’m doing this to show my younger self…”
Becs’s journey is a testament to the power of resilience and the importance of mental and physical health. Her story reminds us that even those we look up to as fitness role models have their struggles, and they don’t owe us a detailed account of their diets or training regimens. Each person’s path to health and happiness is unique.
