Cody Reacts to Netflix’s Cody Rigsby Parody

If you’re a Peloton fan and have binged Netflix’s sports comedy Running Point, you’ve probably seen the very fake Peloton instructor and realized right away that it was a Cody Rigsby parody. And now, Cody has finally chimed in on the subject with a hilarious, perfectly sassy response—proving once again that no one claps back quite like Cody. The show may serve up laughs, but thanks to Cody, it’s getting a whole new kind of spotlight.

Wait, What Happened?

The buzz stems from a Cody Rigsby parody moment where a knockoff instructor appears on a non-Peloton bike during a scene with Kate Hudson.”Running Point,” loosely based on the life of Jeanie Buss, the controlling owner of the Los Angeles Lakers, has stirred up some chatter. Although the show is based on a true story, the fictional “Los Angeles Waves” basketball team and its antics take a lot of creative liberties. But, the real drama for us Peloton people? It’s all over a moment featuring a fake Cody Rigsby. Yes, you read that right—the show created a knockoff version of our beloved Peloton icon. And honestly? Cody said what many were already thinking.

“Cory? Cory? It’s giving wish.com,” Cody quips in his sassy social media reaction to the show’s clip. He even points out the knock-off Peloton bike, saying “I think that’s an Echelon, that’s tacky.” Ouch. Direct hit.

The Show vs. Reality

The fake Cody moment takes place during a scene with Kate Hudson, who plays a vivacious and over-the-top character loving her “Peloton-esque” experience. While Hudson’s character is hyped for her workout, fans instantly spotted the spoof as a clear Cody Rigsby parody, thanks to the over-the-top energy and suspiciously familiar vibe. Kate’s character is seen hyping up the imitation instructor, seated on what Cody himself hilariously called a “tacky bike.” And although Hudson is known to genuinely love her Peloton bike in real life—she’s even gone on record saying, “I’m obsessed with my Peloton bike. It’s literally my favorite thing!”—fans of the fitness empire couldn’t help but notice that this bike was decidedly not a Peloton.

Imitation may be the highest form of flattery, but in this case, it fell flatter than one of those limp and bland fajitas that “fake Cory” is serving. After all, Cody Rigsby isn’t just a fitness instructor—he’s a whole vibe. A fake can’t capture that.

Cody Rigsby Parody: The Real Response

In classic Cody style, his response to the Cody Rigsby parody was sharp and hilarious.  Turns out, show runners actually did reach out to Cody about appearing on the show—but then left him hanging. “They put me on hold and never hired me,” Cody explained on his socials, turning what could’ve been a bitter sentiment into delightful, signature Cody commentary. He cheekily adds, “So you can afford Sephora?”

In classic Cody humor, he didn’t shy away from roasting the situation. He also got plenty of love from his fellow Peloton family. A few standouts in the comment section:

  • Denis Morton dropped a 🚩 emoji, captioning it simply with, “Cory is a commonly returned item.”
  • Jenn Cotter expressed what everyone’s been thinking, saying, “I rewound it many times. Outraged. You are nothing like that. Why wouldn’t they just ask you!?”

The tea is boiling, folks. And just like Cody, we’re all sipping it.

It’s Cody’s World, We’re Just Spinning in It

At the end of the day, Cody handled the whole situation with the sass and class we expect from him. While the Cody Rigsby parody might leave some fans scratching their heads, the real Cody turned what could’ve been a messy drama into an opportunity to show up with humor and grace. And honestly, that’s exactly why Cody Rigsby can’t be replicated—he’s one of a kind.
