Chelsea Jackson Roberts Launches Substack Newsletter: The Embodied Resistance”
Dr. Chelsea Jackson Roberts, one of Peloton’s most thoughtful and socially conscious yoga instructors, has launched a new independent publication on Substack. The newsletter, titled “The Embodied Resistance,” will feature new articles and reflections every Monday, expanding her voice and reach well beyond the Peloton platform.
Bringing Deep Practice Beyond Peloton
Chelsea’s Substack allows her to share longer-form essays and deeper reflections on yoga philosophy, embodied practices, and mindfulness. The inaugural piece explores the significance of breath and why breathing practices matter in both personal wellness and collective healing. This move reflects a growing trend among fitness influencers and educators who are turning to Substack to develop direct relationships with their audiences, increasing their ability to share content that simply doesn’t fit traditional social media formats.
Have you met Chelsea yet?
Chelsea joined Peloton as a yoga instructor in May 2020. Her teaching style is creative, challenging, and compassionate, designed to make members feel at home while building strength and confidence. In addition to yoga, she leads meditation classes on the platform, and has developed specialized programming including many sleep meditations built around mindfulness. She pursued her Ph.D. at Emory University, where she focused on how yoga impacts learning and cognitive processing in teenage girls – research that continues to inform her teaching philosophy to this day. She has made it her life’s work to study the positive impact that yoga has on communities, a mission that runs through everything from her Peloton classes to her Substack newsletter and beyond.
Chelsea Jackson Roberts’ Broader Mission
The Peloton instructor has long been committed to making yoga accessible and culturally responsive. Through Red Clay Yoga, a nonprofit she co-founded with her husband, Shane Roberts, she has worked to bring yoga and wellness practices to marginalized communities across the United States. Her Substack newsletter adds another powerful channel for her educational work, allowing her to reach members who are interested in the deeper philosophical and somatic dimensions of yoga practice.
Her Peloton work includes the popular Chelsea Set series featuring live guest DJs, and she has been the subject of an in-depth interview on The Clip Out.

What Chelsea’s Substack Offers Readers
Subscribers can expect weekly Monday publications exploring themes of breath, body awareness, resistance, and healing, all through a yoga and social justice lens. For Peloton members already familiar with her classes, the Substack provides a deeper dive into the thinking and philosophy that informs her teaching on the platform. Her commitment to culturally responsive wellness has also been evident in partnerships like her recent collaboration with GirlTrek, which brought yoga instruction to communities focused on Black women’s health.
With the launch of her Substack newsletter, Chelsea continues to grow her influence as a thought leader at the intersection of yoga, wellness, and social change. The Embodied Resistance represents both a personal creative outlet and an open invitation for her growing community to engage with her ideas on a deeper level every single Monday.
