Welcome to the Clip Out podcast, episode 4 35. This is Crystal O’Keefe, and this is Tom O’Keefe. What, trying to make me edit things before we even get started. I like right as you’re about to be like, are you ready? And then I’m like, sure. And then as you go to hit record, say something dirty.
Yeah. Just keeping the marriage alive, nice and fresh. Last week. Just a little peek behind the curtain. Ooh, [00:01:00] curtain peeking. Uh, last week I accidentally loaded the completely wrong file for the YouTube. Like somebody messaged me and was like, um, this is completely unedited. And uh, sure enough, yeah, I had never actually.
Exported the edited version out of the software that I used, right? So I uploaded the wrong one. But like I was telling Nikki, help her be Nikki. I was like, thank God this wasn’t one of the weeks. Tom says the things that he usually says, because you usually say things to the quote unquote editor.
’cause I’m the editor that like, make me blush and you do it on purpose. Thank God this wasn’t one of the weeks you did that because what a shame. You want people to subscribe to the YouTube channel? Well, it’s not like they see anything. Don’t be sending false messages. Oh my God, that was so embarrassing, but took it down and fixed it within a couple hours.
Woo. I wonder if anybody else even noticed I had, I saw a comment on there, but like some PE on [00:02:00] YouTube, I’ve noticed that people like do these cryptic comments and have no punctuation. Yeah. So a lot of times I don’t understand what they mean. Yeah. But something like, they were like, good show, um, unedited and I was like.
Huh. And like I saw it, but I didn’t have a chance to like click on it and figure out what was going on. Right. And thank God somebody like sent me an actual honest to God message and was like, um, crystal, just fyi, whatcha doing over there? Yeah. Like supposed to save that for the Patreon. So, uh, what pray tell do you have in store for people this week?
Uh, well, let’s see. We’ve got, this whole AI thing that I didn’t know was gonna cause such a uproar because of Pelotons integration with chat GPT. So we’re gonna talk about that. Why would you not know that? I don’t know. Peloton adding breathwork to its status page ’cause it’s officially purchased.
Right. Okay. Um, club Peloton, uh, and where their discounts are now available. Also the really cool perks that some people are getting from. Club [00:03:00] Peloton. Yeah. And we had the big AWS outage this week and the uproar that went along with that. Gotta cover that, of course. ’cause that’s just fun. Another lawsuit we’ve got going on, we’ve got an update to another lawsuit.
This time it’s Peloton doing the punching. Yeah. And then, uh, we also have some news on instructors. What’s going on with Selena Samuella? What’s going on with Camila Ramon? What’s going on with just king? And, uh, of course the apparel collab. That was a mystery how that’s going. Mystery solved. Mystery solved.
You were right. Let’s just say that I wasn’t right. Um, well, lots of people were. Okay. Um, the newest artist series, we’ve got tons of other connected fitness news. There are lots of lawsuits flying around. Let’s just say that there. And we’ve got tons of content to follow, uh, to, to let everybody know about.
And just a hint, you’re gonna wanna listen because lots of class types dropped this week. Lots of new stuff, so very exciting. Okay, well, before we get to all that [00:04:00] shameless plugs, don’t forget we’re available on Apple Podcast, Spotify iHeart. Tune in wherever you find a podcast. You can find us. This week over on the Patreon, we will be discussing how your hand grip can predict your future wellness.
Mm-hmm. We’re gonna talk [00:05:00] about the benefits of walking backwards, which. America is really good at and why you should check your Peloton birth date. Yes. Why? That’s very important. Yes. To log into your system to make sure you got your birth date right. It’s so we will go into all of that plus more. Over on the Patreon.
And then finally, you can watch all of these episodes over on YouTube, sometimes completely unedited. I do the entire episode topless,
and of course we have a newsletter that you could sign up for@theclipbot.com, where you will get a weekly reminder mostly that we exist. And, uh, just, uh, all the links and stuff that we use throughout the episode. So that’s it, uh, for all that. So let’s, uh, let’s dig in. Shall we? We shall.
[00:06:00]
Peloton is integrating chat GPT into its functionality, which means every instructor has been fired and replaced with an avatar. It doesn’t mean that, but the way people are acting, you would think it does like, yeah, it’s really interesting. Most people don’t even really understand what any of this means, and then there’s about 10% of people who are just flipping the F out.
Look, AI is. Getting weirder and weirder. Absolutely. All the people that we used to say but we have to give them tax breaks. ’cause their job creators are now like, what if we just replace everybody with ai? Yeah. Yeah. That’s happening. And so, I mean, I can’t pretend that it’s not, there’s your job creators, people and but uh, but also at the same time, like.
Y you ain’t stopping this train? No, the train has left the station. I like, I don’t know what, you know, you know how like all of a sudden, like five years ago, like everything had wifi Yep. Whether you needed it or not. Like your stove like our stove connects [00:07:00] to the wifi so we could preheat on the drive home.
Yep. Your our, you know, your toaster has wifi, everything’s got wifi and that’s where we’re at with ai. You’re, everything you buy within five years will have some sort of AI component, no matter how frivolous or nothing of an item you’re purchasing. Like why does my hairbrush have an eye? Okay, but let’s talk about this actually is okay.
’cause people are really confused about it. Okay, so OpenAI has announced a Peloton chat, GPT integration, which is coming soon. So first of all, it hasn’t started yet. People let’s be clear. Second of all, what does that mean? OpenAI has started this new thing that they have apps, okay? Mm-hmm. Which in the past it’s been like information has been dumped into open ai, right?
But let’s say you went to Open AI and you said Create a Peloton workout for me. It can’t. All it could do was read that like there are types of workouts, or it could even say like, here are workouts that occurred in the [00:08:00] past. What this in theory, will allow Peloton to do is feed in real time what the workouts and offerings are.
Okay. Okay. What else it can do is a question mark. We don’t know. We don’t know. Do we know, will this functionality exist within Peloton or within chat GPT? My understanding is. Within chat, GPT, like you don’t go to your bike and use it. Okay. Or your tread and use it. You’re gonna go to chat GPT and you’re going to choose the Peloton app option.
Mm-hmm. And then you’re gonna ask it whatever questions you wanna ask it and will. That’s the way I think it works. Okay. And then will it like. Read your Peloton history and then say, well, that’s such a great question. Based on what you’ve been doing and what your stated goals are, here’s what we recommend.
I think it I don’t know if it’s gonna read your history. I don’t know. We don’t know the answer to that because if you have to go to open ai mm-hmm. As I suspect that you [00:09:00] do, then how would it get your specific information? Yeah. That’s why I was like, are you starting to, in the same way you use.
Facebook to log into websites. Are you gonna start using you know, oh link, you know, link. Yeah, like how you let your watch sink access to the scale, right? Like that’s the question. We don’t know. We don’t know because it doesn’t exist yet, right? So we don’t know. And we don’t know if you’re gonna be able to get it on the free version of chat, GPT, or you’re gonna have to pay for the paid subscription shift.
Right? We don’t. No. Yeah and so I am assuming, this is my assumptions, you’re going to go to OpenAI chat, GPT, you’re going to type, you’re gonna be able to access classes. That’s what I think you’re gonna be able to like search the live. Offerings, not just the past classes that have occurred. That’s what I think what’s what people seem to assume.
The 10% that are freaking out. Mm-hmm. And I’m not even saying they’re wrong to freak out, I’m just saying like, let’s let things happen before we get to [00:10:00] like Right. Crisis intervention levels. Yeah. Um. What they’re afraid is going to happen is that Peloton is just passing all of your information willy-nilly into the internet, including, yeah.
Your birthdate and your home address and your credit card number, your social security number, right? Well, first of all, all of your billing information is kept on a completely different server than your class information. Yeah. Like, let’s be clear about that. Now, the things that are on your class server information are your weight, your location, if you fill that in mm-hmm.
Um, your height birthdate. Yeah, your birthdate and I think that And like what classes you’ve taken. Yeah. And when you’ve taken them. But those classes can be. Revelatory They can, right? They can. Like if you’re taking, you know, uh, uh, prenatal classes. Prenatal classes, oh, maybe this person is pregnant, right?
Or if you are taking adaptive classes mm-hmm. Or you are all of a sudden you went from, you know, running x number of miles or minutes a week to y number of miles a week. But see, that assumes that. [00:11:00] The information is going straight that your personal information is going over without your say. Yeah, and I don’t know that that is true.
And even if you do log in, like let’s say you go to chat GPT, there’s a login, you put in your Peloton credentials and that’s how it reads it. Even if that’s the case, it probably is going to have a, don’t keep this information on the AI servers. I will say this. I will take, I, let me be the apoplectic one for a moment.
Even if it says, that doesn’t mean it will. Oh, it’s total bullshit. I agree. Like, like AI exists because they went and scraped websites of copyrighted content and then said. We couldn’t afford to pay for it, so you shouldn’t make us. And then the court said, okay, that makes sense, but listen, why should you have to pay for things?
So, but listen, there are, there are websites that these, that people who are listening to us right now are scraping the websites. Mm-hmm. Uh, every day. Yeah. Like there are. Peloton people out there that their whole lives are sitting there coding. Yeah. ’cause they’re big [00:12:00] fat nerds and they’re scraping people’s websites for their information and passing it off as their own.
It has always been that way. Yeah. Just because you did not know about it Yeah. Does not mean it was not happening. Yeah. But I’m, I’m not saying this is safe or Okay. Yeah. That is not what I’m saying. What I’m saying is it’s like a new layer of that. Yeah. And it is concerning. There are a lot of things about AI that people should be concerned about.
I am the first person and I work at a company where we very much embrace ai and I’m always like, but what about this? Right? Yeah. Like I, and I, like, I, I think that no matter what you say, they’re gonna get this. And I also think that no matter what you say, they’re gonna get like, I don’t know how.
There’s no stopping it other than just you don’t use web-based things anymore. That that’s the thing. Yeah. And, and what I, what I think that, my assumption is you’re gonna have to go and access it to get to it, and I don’t think it is gonna take your information. Yeah. Unless you choose to log in. Now I.
Don’t know who will choose to log in. Mm-hmm. I don’t know what will go over to them, but like, I think that [00:13:00] regardless of what, what side you’re on the side where it’s like, it’ll probably be fine or it’s the, we’re completely freaking outside. We all need to just wait and see what it is before, before we get there.
Yeah. Like there are assumptions on all sides. We don’t know. Yeah. So like, let’s. Let’s give it a minute. We don’t even know when it’s happening. We just know it’s coming soon. Yeah, it’s soon. Soon. In this world. Could be tomorrow, or it could be in February of next year. I don’t know. Yeah, so like, let’s just let it be.
Some things that we think you are gonna be able to get out of it are combining classes into personalized stack stacks, making, going from ride to stretching, making that super easy. Mm-hmm. Being able to describe what you’re looking for in a class and actually getting that rather than trying to search forever.
Like, I want this kind of music, I want this kind of stretching, I want this kind of, yeah. You know, just being able to tell it what you want. Like that would be amazing, right? Because Pelotons not the greatest at describing those. And then also having training plans that are more about what you are [00:14:00]looking for and you’re able to give it a prompt instead of manually searching and finding these things.
So that’s what we think. Could potentially be the positive of all this, but that is all to come. We don’t know. It’s a big old question mark. Yeah, but I will say this, I don’t think that we all need to go to the worst case scenario. I think we, I don’t think we need to go to the best case scenario. I think we just need to wait and see.
Yeah. What happens. So moving along Peloton has added. Breath work to its status page. Yeah. So we talked about a few weeks ago that when Peloton made all of its changes and it had new things that it acquired and it had new things, it was adding to the website, yada, yada. Well, breath work kind of got lost in the shuffle.
Yeah. Because people were so outraged over a $5 increase and that became the narrative. Yeah. Because of the way PE And that’s on Peloton, the way they put out the communications. Yeah. That is on them. But Breath Work is an app that is all about. [00:15:00] Breathing and it’s helping you with different things like it can help you.
If you are really anxious, it can help you use your breath to calm down. If you wake up in the middle of the night, it has a series of breath work to put you back to sleep. Um, it has ones to help you increase your vo, O2 max and your lung capacity. So all kinds of different things. But what has also kind of just quietly happened is since Peloton officially acquired them, it is also available on Peloton status page.
So now when you go to the status page, you are able to see what the status of breathwork specifically is. Like this week when there were all the outages, breathwork didn’t have any outages, for example. Interesting. And it’s just because one’s on AWS one isn’t, right. So it’s, it’s. You know, there’s a lot of, and there are companies that were, they were the one website not using AWS and even if they were on AWS it doesn’t mean that they were impacted.
Not every company that was on AWS was impacted. So for all I know they are a part of AWS it just wasn’t impacted. Right. I don’t know, but I just thought it was notable that it is now on their, their status page. [00:16:00] So. Absolutely. So Club Peloton. Yes. We keep getting more and more. Information about it Absolutely.
As it progresses. So the first one is, uh, a discount has been added for Added, yeah. Has been added. I was in my, I was already trying to say Canadian as I was. You failed and I failed. A discount has been added. For the Canadian edited apparel site? It has. So when p, when Club Peloton first came out within a few days, we saw on Pelotons apparel site for the US users that if you were a legend, you got 25% off apparel.
And that’s in addition to any of the other, uh, perks that are already out there. Any of the other sales, it’s all stackable. Now. It says that there are exclusions. We haven’t found one yet, but I’m sure there will be. Yeah, like I’m sure they’ll launch some new Lululemon thing and they’re like, this is brand new.
Settle down, calm down. Yeah. But for now, none, none have actually been excluded. Especially ’cause we know how excitable Canadians are, like they’re just [00:17:00] flying off the handle. So yeah, they’re just outta control. Unlike us, steady Americans, yes. But at the time, none of the other websites, so the, you know, Australia.
The uk. Um, also Germany and also Germany. Yes. Austria. Exactly. None of those included Club, club Peloton. Well, this week it’s a very exclusive club. Tipster. Trish found that it has now been added to the Canadian apparel site. Now she could find no verbiage about it. It just started appearing. It just there checkout.
They’re at checkout. Yeah. So, um, I don’t know if it’s, that means that it’s shown up for Australia, for Germany, the other places, but definitely check it out and keep checking it out because clearly they are rolling it out to the other countries. So that’s pretty cool. Yeah, and it is a good, it is a good deal, especially when they’re sales like.
I have been tempted to buy things like I’m saving up for something special for myself, so I keep putting it off but like there have been so many times I’ve almost hit the go button. Yeah. And we also, uh, [00:18:00] learned about another club, Peloton Perk this week. We did. Yeah. For people who have reached 5,000 rides, they all got emails this week giving them a hundred.
$50 off a Lululemon purchase. Wow. $150 gift card. It’s basically like a free item or 60% of an item? No, no. I’d say, I’d say that’s actually a whole outfit, to be honest. You know, I mean, you may have to search a little to make that happen, right? Like, you know, yes. It could be one hoodie that also could be a hoodie.
Uh, it depends on when you buy and what you’re buying. Yes, for sure. But, um, it also could be an outfit if you’re very careful. So I wonder if that will stay in place. I don’t know. Or if that was a one one off, like as other people, you know, you’d like to think that as everybody hits 5,000, I will also say that seems like a lot.
Yeah. Like a lot of people and I could see them rolling that back quietly ’cause they certainly didn’t make an announcement about it. Right. But people kept posting all over Facebook about it ’cause they’re so [00:19:00] excited. ’cause it’s a huge deal. Yeah. But I suspect as quiet as they’ve been, this one is very clearly.
Um, we’ll see how it goes. Yeah. We’ll take it away when we, when it’s too much. Yeah, I could all, I mean, which I get, I do too. Like, I get that they’re like, oh, we’ll create these perks, but we don’t wanna guarantee you this perk because then people get like the, uh, the century shirt. Yeah. People very much were like, that is my right.
As a Peloton user. Yeah. But let me tell you this, when you log in, the very first time a club Peloton, it flat out tells you, you are owed nothing. We can change these at any time. Yeah. This is not a legal Right. We’re doing this ’cause we want to, you are not owed this like in all the language. Yeah. They were like, we’ve been burned before.
Thank you. Yeah.
So we talked earlier, and I’m sure you’ve probably heard about the AWS. Outages this week. The people that secretly run the internet. Yeah. And and there were many, many outages, so many outages. And it was across all [00:20:00] industries, all different kinds of corporations, all different kinds of things you use every day on the internet and don’t even think about.
It was shocking to me though, how many people got on the internet and started screaming at Peloton about how the outages are ridiculous. I was just like. Before you come here and start with all your all caps, like Google some shit. Yeah. Like how do you start there? Like how is that day one? Okay. So devil’s advocate, please.
Please. A lot of people. They exercise first thing in the morning, so they get up, they hop on a bike or a tread or a row. Yeah. And, and like, and so they, they don’t realize that this is an internet wide thing. Sure. They just hop on their bike and they’re like, why isn’t this working? Right. And, and then go over.
To the opp and start screaming. See that? That’s the problem I have like go to status.one peloton.com. Okay. You’re clip out Crystal. Yeah, I am. And and to me, you should have a certain amount of common sense to do certain things. Like there’s a driver’s test. You [00:21:00] have to, you have to do certain things before you get in a car and drive it.
And I think that some people are so goddamn stupid that they need to have a license to post on Facebook or. I don’t know, to go to a store and start yelling at a cashier without having any information whatsoever. I just think 80% of people, or maybe having a child, like maybe there should be a test for that.
Oh God, I’d be scared of who’s in charge of running that test. Well, right now, I Sure hell would be. Yeah. So that’s, but, uh, agreed. Agreed. But, uh, but. I mean, I honestly, I think 80% of people don’t even realize that there is a status. Do one peloton.com. That’s kind of my point, but that’s kind of my point like how are you on the internet at all?
And you don’t know that every major corporation either has a status page or you can go to down detector, like, how do you exist in this world and don’t know. Basic information. I like legit. I don’t, I do not understand that. Don’t, I don’t know that I’d think to go look at that. Really? Yeah. That’s the first thing I do.
When something’s not working, I [00:22:00] go to down detector or I Google it. Like, is this out before I start trying to fix everything? Yeah. I’m just like, is this a known problem? And then if it’s not a known problem and then I do all the things, like that’s why I shut it down. That’s why your club about Crystal and I’m a sidekick.
No, I’m serious. Like these are just, yeah. To me, these are. Basic steps you take. Yeah. And you don’t go to outrage first, like sick. I mean, I’m not saying that I, I would then go on the OPP or whatever the equivalent for me would be and start screaming. But like, yeah, like I, I do think that was what was driving is that it’s people exercise first thing in the morning.
It’s not working. They go to the OPP and then probably by like within 30 minutes they’re like, oh, this is everywhere. Well, I will, I will give some people this, that, the people who were in the UK and Australia, now they are several hours ahead, and so they’re waking up even that much earlier. And there’s not as much information about the US out there because the US hasn’t woken up yet.
Right. And started posting [00:23:00] these things. Those people I give a pass to. Yeah. But like even searching before you post. Yeah. And like. Yeah. Even 14 hours into this, people are still posting outrage. Yeah. Like take two seconds to search. Yeah. Like really, I just don’t, I’m not the person that goes straight to the outrage.
I might be outraged, but I don’t go straight out and start posting about it first thing. Yeah. Like I, I try to figure things out first, and I do not understand how that is not just like everybody’s setting everybody well. Based on the world we live in. I know. That’s what makes me mad. It is not. And so anyway, so you’re outraged.
I am. And I’m here telling you about it. Claps included.
So Peloton has requested that. [00:24:00] A lawsuit get tossed and I guess this lawsuit has been tossed previously. Yeah. And then refiled. So investors had filed a class action lawsuit claiming that Peloton had misled shareholders about its business during and after. COVID. Yeah. I mean, we’ve been over this like yeah, like there have been multiple times we’ve said this.
Right? And the court has said like, okay, they might have been wrong, but they weren’t hiding things from you. Right. It’s like a once every hundred year event happened and they misjudged, but they weren’t out to get you. Right. They weren’t like, we will withhold this information purposely. Yeah. And so, so it was dismissed and then they refiled it.
And so now Peloton is basically saying. We’ve been through this, why are we doing this again? Yeah, yeah. And so they’re asking for it to be dismissed. Yeah. And so. This is the second circuit court. Yeah. And this, so apparently this only revived some of the investors’ claims. Not [00:25:00] all the court, uh, affirmed the dismissal of stick of six statements, but allowed three others to proceed.
The three claims are a statement by then, CEO, John Foley and August, 2021 earnings call that a $400 price cut on Peloton bikes was. Quote unquote, absolutely offensive, rather than a response to a weakening demand to risk disclosures in regulatory filings about excess inventory levels that according to plaintiffs, understated the actual magnitude of the issue.
So, and then there’s a third one that I’m not seeing, but so those have been reinstated, but still like, yeah, sometimes people get things wrong. Yeah. It’s not, that’s not being wrong is not, it’s not the same as lying to people. I have so much to say on that issue. But but it’s not about John Foley. So they’re saying in this article that like, the things that we wanna watch for, which we will continue to watch for, are whether the district court grants Pelotons renewed dismissal motion, or allows [00:26:00] the co, the court case to proceed. So we’ll keep an eye on that and whether or not the plaintiffs can muster stronger factual allegations because so far it’s just like, but he told me something I didn’t wanna hear.
Yeah. So we will, uh, we will be. Watching. Yeah. My gut, this is a nothing burger absolutely. Coming up after this, we got instructors in the news. We’re gonna talk to you about Selena Samuel’s health issues. We’re gonna talk about Camille Ramone’s fashion Nightmare and the mystery instructor has been revealed, and you probably already know who it is.
So this was an ineffective tease, so, so there is more to come on it though, so please stick around anyway.
Selena Samuella has been diagnosed with gestational diabetes.
She has, and, uh, that is rather common in, um. A lot of [00:27:00] pregnancies, but especially those with twins. So she’s trying to she’s crowdsourcing and I’m sure talking to her doctor, people like, let’s not freak out. Yeah. Um, but she’s trying to get tips and things like that ’cause she wants to try to manage it without insulin.
So that is her goal and that is what she is going to be focused on doing. Of course she will follow her doctor’s advice and if they say, no, no, no, gotta do insulin, she’ll do all the things like, yeah, let’s not. Panic or anything like that. She’s a good mom and she’s gonna do all the things. She’s not disavowing the medical community.
She is not. She is not. She’s just trying to do it naturally. Yeah. And that’s, I mean, lots of people do that. Okay, my blood pressure’s high before you throw medicine at me. Is there anything I can do? Absolutely. Yeah. Absolutely. So Camilla Ramon had a, uh, a post on the gram she did about a fashion related.
Incident. Yeah. I’ll try to keep this shorter than what I went through with you this morning. We do practice podcasts before we start. Well, I know it’s hard to tell. I was [00:28:00] telling you just like what happened. ’cause we were deciding like, is this appropriate to put in the main episode? Is it more appropriate to put in the bonus?
You know, that’s what we were discussing, so I had to explain it all first. Yeah. So if we’re wrong. You’re getting like a free bonus episode. There you go. You owe us $5. So Camilla she got invited to some kind of industry event that required her to dress a specific way IE fancy and needed the, like, whenever you get invited to these things, a lot of times the brand will also have you come in and like pick from.
Their clothes. Right. And to like get all dressed up, put in the schmancy in fancy. Right. So she goes to the place they told her to go to. And I guess background here Camila used to be a dancer and she feels her body is an athletic build and does not fit the way that like the fashion industry, like high end fashion designs for, right?
Yeah. So. Have to know that going in. So she gets there, she’s told to like, wait on this couch. She’s like, no problem. You know, [00:29:00] she waits and then the person gets there, won’t look her in the eye. She feels very like dismissed. She like tries to come up with reasons why that might be. Maybe the person’s having a bad day, maybe the person is too busy to deal with her.
Like all kinds of reasons, right? But she needs some guidance, like, okay, where do I go? Like they’re just like, go look for things. And she’s like, okay, but like where in this room? And also what, are there certain fabrics that I should be looking at that are gonna have a little more give, um, where the sizing, can you tell me about the sizing?
And they were just like, they just ignored her and they were like, it’s over there. It’s all twos and fours. Go look. Yeah. So. She did. She takes a bunch of stuff into the fitting room, none of it fits. She calls on FaceTime, her stylist and is like, I don’t know what to do. Like she’s in tears. She’s like, none of this fits.
I don’t know what to do. The stylist is like, why aren’t you asking? And she’s like, because these people will not even talk to me. They won’t even look me in the eye. They’re so dismissive and you would think that they’re incentivized to be helpful because the last thing they want is someone [00:30:00] wearing something that doesn’t look good on them.
’cause that reflects on the brand. Such a great point. Such a great point. So I guess she goes out, she tries to talk to a guy, she still doesn’t get anywhere with it. She left it feeling like shit about herself. She was so upset and she went on to Instagram to number one, tell people about this, but also number two, to ask like, does anybody know of a good fashion house in New York that is inclusive and doesn’t make people feel like shit?
Because that is where she would like to go. And um, I thought that was really smart. She didn’t call out this fashion house, I was gonna say, and no, she did not say who it was, so she did not. We don’t know. We do not. But there’s lots of them. And like the one thing, the only thing I could say about the fashion industry is the one time that we went to an event, but it was all for people.
Like they were trying to be inclusive. Right? Like that was the whole point. And they were the most delightful people ever. Oh, for sure. Absolutely. Um. That was kind of a special circumstance. We are not gonna be invited to like Louis Vuitton or [00:31:00] Versace or Yeah, that’s Nobody’s inviting us to that. Also not gonna lie.
Thank you. Absolutely. That sounds boring. It does as hell. It does. Like, the reason that that was such a great event for us to attend was because it was so inclusive and it was uplifting. Yeah. And it was, yeah. It was so heart soaring, like my like, yeah. Watching all of these people like have solutions to their problems was.
Amazing. Yeah. Like I loved every second of it. And so I would be so bored. And also even if I was a Barbie size zero, I would not be into fashion the way that these people the way that they are. Yeah. Like I am not the person that’s gonna spend hours like, oh, I need this pair of earings and this pair of shoes.
I don’t have time for all that shit. Just gimme a pair of jeans and a hoodie and I’m so happy. Works for me. Yeah. I’m not saying there’s never moments that you don’t need some of those things, but like every day, like that sounds miserable. Yeah. Anyway, so, uh, hopefully she gets [00:32:00] some solutions. I hope that she does.
That would be really cool. And I think it’s an important thing to call out, so that’s why we included it here. Yeah. So, uh, Jess King is going to DJ for. Diplo’s run club. Yeah. I don’t really know anything about this. At 8:00 AM Yeah. She’s the, she’s the starter set. I don’t know who’s up exercising and a at a DJ event at, um, but it’s like a run club.
Yeah. So it’s Diplo’s Run Club, and they’re starting this event at like 8:00 AM. And she’s also co DJing with Mark Ronson is doing a later set and so is Diplo. Yeah. So she’s really excited about it. She feels very special. She feels like she’s amazing for having arrived and like good for her. Yeah. Like none of this is my scene.
We have talked so many times about we love Jersey Shore and we love DJ Poll D like, he’s so funny. I think he’s one of the best people that has ever been on that show. But like to go to. One of like those sets and listen to a person play music that I can listen to at [00:33:00] home. I just do not understand.
Yeah. I don’t get it. It’s not a concert. Yeah. Like it’s not like I do not get the appeal of it at all. Yeah, I understand that. It’s a whole industry. Sure. Clearly I am too old for, but like. I just don’t get it. Yeah, I do not get it. I remember when it was electronica, that’s what they called it. The m, the same stuff.
Yeah. But now it’s they, they rebranded it as EDM, but like I remember back in the nineties when it was like they were trying to make electronica a thing, and even then I was like. Don’t get it. Well, and even then, like I, I’m cool listening to that music, but like, I don’t need to go somewhere to hear that music.
Yeah. Like, that doesn’t, it doesn’t energize me to go to a place to hear it. I can listen in my headphones and I’m just fine. But I don’t know. I mean, clearly there is something we don’t get about it. Yeah. But it is obviously a very popular thing. They do not want us there. They don’t. They would be upset if we did like it.
Yeah. They’d be like, you’re old. You’re too old. You stand over here. So, uh, last week’s [00:34:00]mystery. Instructor apparel collab has been revealed and to the shock of no one. Mm-hmm. It was Robin Arza. It was, yes, it was Robin. The, the interesting thing is that Peloton had a big event at one Peloton about this.
Mm-hmm. And um, you could like register to go and it was a whole thing, but they also teased drop number two. So apparently drop one that we already have was just part of it. There is more to come. Oh. Uh, including like. It looks like, like a leather jacket, and like, I’m kind of confused, but listen I love.
That they are doing this. I’m still not able to make myself buy anything. But people were going crazy over this collection. Like they love, like the throwback to the nineties. Yeah. People were buying it left and right. They were so excited about it. Awesome. So, and I’m very glad I am, I was hoping it was gonna be more of like quotes and things like that.
Yeah. Because that’s the kind of stuff that like Yeah. Makes me happy. Right. But it, it wasn’t that, and that’s okay. It doesn’t need to be for me. So anyway, drop two coming [00:35:00] soon. Okay.
Okay. I don’t know how to say this. The latest artist series features, am I supposed to say Georgia Smith or Haw Smith?
Yeah. I don’t know. The J’s make me think it’s a who. Ha. But I, I agree. That was, that was my in in Yeah. Instinct as well. It was mine. And then as I was getting ready to say it, I was like, oh, maybe so like, we’re a million years old. Maybe she’s EDM. We don’t even know. I, I really don’t know. Yeah, I don’t, but um.
Yeah, if, if she’s your favorite artist of all time, and we’re saying her name wrong, our apology definitely, but it is going to be included in a yoga flow, and then there’s gonna be classes with Ash, Hannah, Frankston, and Jocelyn to round out the series. So, Joha flow? Yes. Maybe. Yeah, maybe.
okay. I, we got, uh, some lawsuits here. Everybody in the world of wearables is mad at each other. They are, and I find it fascinating and I feel like Strava started all this. Yeah. So Whoop [00:36:00] is suing Polar. They are, yeah. So they are suing Polar and they’re saying that they, that Polar copied the look of its fabric style fitness band.
Now Polar just came out with a new wearable that doesn’t have any. Like you, you just pay a one-time fee and that’s it. Mm-hmm. There’s no subscription, and whoop is the exact opposite. You don’t pay for the, uh, you don’t buy the ba, you don’t buy the wearable, but you pay a monthly fee and when there’s a new wearable, you get it.
Yeah. And Polar is the first one that has come out that actually has similar data. To whoop. So I think Whoop is feeling a little bit of the pressure. Mm-hmm. Because Polar has actually some of the, some of the same data points as whoop and it’s like just as powerful according to people who have tested it.
I am in a lot of different groups. I wear a whoop. So I see people commenting on these people that have tested the Polar are saying it is just as effective. They’re getting the same numbers as the whoop. That’s the first time that’s happened. Gotcha. Um, so [00:37:00] I think that that is where this one. Is coming from.
Yeah. And they’re like, Hey, your band looks exactly like our band. And the big thing that Whoop has always done is they don’t have a face on their device. Like it’s not meant to track your emails and your notifications, right? It is meant to track your data and it’s a wearable that you’re supposed to wear 24 7 even when you shower.
Uh, that is the design of it. Well, polar is the first one to copy that thought process. Gotcha. Besides that, it’s been knockoffs of Apple watches with polar data, or excuse me, whoop. Data thrown in. Yeah. So this is the first time we’re seeing this and I think that is why Whoop is suing. That makes sense.
And then Suunto. Yes, it is Suunto. Okay. Is suing Garmin? Yes. So. They are saying that five of of their patents were infringed upon that it relates to the antenna design, the devices that measure the respiratory rate, watch casing tracking golf shots, and implemented the [00:38:00] features that are in the Soto Mark.
Epics Phoenix Instinct. Oo and, oh, I’m sorry. Implemented the features in the Garmin, mark Epics, Phoenix Instinct, ver venue, and forerunner MO mod models. So they are asking for a permanent injunction to block the sales of all of these devices that use those features. Doubt that’s gonna happen. They, but you gotta ask, you do, apparently that’s just how lawsuits work.
It’s like when I was in court with the ex, I’m like. What if we throw her in jail? I, we know it wasn’t gonna happen, but You gotta ask you, you nevermind. I’ll leave that to those who want to read the journal someday. Yes, it’s a good one. And then, uh, finally for Connected Fitness. Body has partnered with Tony Horton and P 90 X and then they immediately sued each other.
No, that’s, that part’s not true. They didn’t, but I thought this was interesting for a few reasons. [00:39:00] One Tony Horton has been on tonal many times. Mm-hmm. He is a very expensive man to have. I also wondered, okay. He’s been on. Tonal is like Tony Horton. But I’ve never seen him use the P 90 X. So do you have to pay extra?
I bet you do. For Tony and P 90 x, I don’t know. And just because this says it in the title doesn’t mean a thing. That’s fair. It’s just for clicks. Right. And Ale Tech writes about everything, athletics. So it it, I mean, they know, right? They know. So I, I don’t know that that’s the case. The other interesting thing about this is though, that now body is leaning into longevity, it’s like, oh.
Everybody else is, I guess we should jump on the bandwagon. Oh, well it’s MLM, so they need you to live as long as possible to get rid of all that shit in your garage. You got a lot of, you got a lot of powders to get rid of. Well, it’s, it’s also another example of how all these companies are like contracting.
Yeah. Right. Because, [00:40:00] you know, P 90 x and all of that was very much, a competitor with Beachbody. Yeah. And now they’re like working together. That’s pretty funny to me. It’s, yeah. Yeah. And also Tony Horton is aging backwards. Yeah. I don’t know what that’s about, but he picture, unless it’s an old picture, I mean, he looks even younger than the stuff I.
When you saw him on Tonal? I never took any of his classes on tonal. The dude kind of irritates me, I’m not gonna lie. Uh, also yeah, he’s a lot, he and his classes are really easy, in my opinion. Yeah. Like they’re kind of, I don’t feel like I’m getting a, like, I don’t feel like I’m sore the next day.
Yeah. But he’s insanely popular for sure. And people do love his classes. He’s just not my style. But yeah, he does seem to be aging backwards and people have commented on that for years. I don’t know what the man’s doing, but keep doing it. Yeah, it’s working. Unless you’re like drinking the blood of children or something, don’t do that.
Yes. Not, not good. It’s has a weird aftertaste.
Coming up [00:41:00] after this, we’re gonna tackle content. We got the TCO top five and a look at all the classes that you should be considering. So stick around.
It is time for the TCO top five. You have told us your favorite classes and here they are.
Your favorite. A Pilates class. It is unsurprisingly the 20 minute life of a Showgirls Pilate that was taught by Anna Greenberg on the 15th of this month. That’s it. Yeah. That’s it. I, I don’t, I didn’t take it. Yeah. But I love Anna’s Pilates and I love her outfit. It was very perfectly showgirls. Yeah.
And it was by Brittany Allen, so of course it was, it’s, uh, it, I know it’s supposed to be a showgirl outfit. But as a nerd. Looks like Aquaman. Oh, I see that. It looks like Aquaman’s costume. I see that. But it is very much the colors from Taylor Swift’s new album, which I have just been listening to nonstop.
And I haven’t taken this Pilates class. I did take Mariana’s, um, [00:42:00] yoga class and I really enjoyed it. Yeah, her new album, life of an Aquaman doesn’t have quite the same ring. And who gave us that class? Saana Princey. I’m. Probably saying it wrong again. Um, she said it, this class was wonderful and it left her feeling so happy during a stressful week.
And the class includes all the Pilates moves, classic Pilates moves, including a series of planks to get your core showgirl worthy. Okay, uh, number two, your favorite. Seasonal ride. This was taught by Eric Yeager and it was the 30 minute October Fest ride. Um, and Christie Somali recommended it, saying it was just a lot of fun made, especially so, because it was obvious Eric was having a great time sharing his culture.
That’s really cool. Uh, number three, your favorite music themed ride. Okay, so. Ali Love came back from maternity leave for one day and had this 30 minute life of a show Showgirl ride, and, um, people loved it. Courtney Mitchell recommended this ride saying it was perfection and Santa was back with a recommendation [00:43:00] saying she also loved it.
Happy music, happy instructors equals a happy Peloton community. Uh, number four, your favorite mobility class. Cliff er appearing in the TCO top five. It was a 20 minute evening stretch from. October 14th of this year. And now this is a review by Dark Peloton. Okay? Okay. And it’s a little bit PG 13.
Tina said that, so I’m just following her lead. Okay. Dark Peloton said that the playlist for this class was for grown folks and baby Macon. Oh, well now, and Tina said, of course, we had to check it out. Judge us if you wish. But you know, you would do the same. Cliff definitely puts you in. A mood with the clap music in this class and it offers a lot of nice, slow, basic stretching.
Life of a hoe girl. And then, uh, finally number five. You are unst stackable. It is strength. It is. Katie Wong taught this class. It was a 30. Minute kettlebell strength. [00:44:00] And Liz Nichol loved this. She said it was a killer class. She’s been taking these classes since the inception, and the instructors keep adding new, interesting and challenging moves.
This class had killer curtsy lunges and a march holding the kettlebell upside down overhead, which is a great move for grip strength. And even if you don’t have kettlebells, you can still do, uh, this class and use dumbbells. There’s no swinging. And you only needed one. You don’t have to have a pair. So this is good for people who don’t necessarily have kettlebells.
Okay, that’s a great, but they wanna try it, right? So that’s awesome. Taking a look at this week at Peloton we have a new class type. Percentage hike we do.
Yeah. This is neat. So what I can tell, I haven’t taken one yet. Mm-hmm. But from what I can tell they’re fairly short classes. They’re 10 minutes. And the idea is that you spend the entire time on whatever percentage the hike calls out. So if it says it’s a 10% hike, you’re gonna do all 10 minutes. A 10%.
Okay. Says it’s a 6% hike. You’re gonna [00:45:00] spend all 10 minutes at 6%. And the idea being that like you can control. How hard you wanna make it. And uh, I think that’s really cool because it’s a great way, it’s like you really wanna get a big, you know, big push in, right? And you’re like, I wanna do a 12% hike or a 15% hike.
If you have a tread plus, then go find that and do your 10 minutes. And then, but if you’re like, I wanna have a challenge, but I don’t wanna, I don’t wanna overdo it. Right. Maybe a 6% is for you. That’s a good way to. Build your way up. Absolutely. Absolutely. We have a Disney Heroes ride with Samuel Yo.
Yeah. 20 minutes special. Uh, Disney Heroes Ride. And it is Monday, October 20th that it came out 8:30 AM Eastern. And shadow Boxing has returned. Yeah, we haven’t had some of these for a while. Uh, rad. Selena and Jermaine Johnson all have new classes and those are all dropped this week on October 20th. At midnight Eastern and uh, also yoga conditioning with [00:46:00] Mariana.
Listen, do not sleep on these classes. Like, I know you hear yoga and you think easy, but like you add weights to yoga, it is a different world. Like these are so hard. It’s your and, uh, new class dropping. And this one’s live, uh, Sunday, October 26th at 12:00 PM Taking a look at what’s on the clip outs radar.
You can celebrate Diwali. Yeah. So that was this past Monday and they had several new classes that dropped for Diwali. Um, so there were three of them, and that was with a row with Ash. There was a run with Marcel and Pilates with Aditi. So lots of different options. You know, I do this thing with Bing every day.
Oh dear. The Bing app where if you go in and you click on certain things, you get points and over time Oh yeah. You get like. Points that you can redeem for free gift cards and like Amazon gift cards, and it takes like two minutes a day. And like I make like. 15, 30 bucks a month doing it. Like, so I’m like, okay.
So [00:47:00] one of the things I had to do the other day was, you have to take a quiz. It was three questions all about Ali. Oh. And I got all three of them Correct. Which I thought was really funny ’cause I was completely guessing. Really every time. That’s funny. But I guessed all three correctly. So look at me.
You’ve learned things. Yes. I’m gonna assume you learned it from listening to me talk about Diwali as we. Describe it on the show We’ve talked about Ali. Yeah. Okay. I guess so. That’s where I got it from. I saw it. Got it. From that one episode of the office. Oh, 20 years ago maybe. Yeah.
We also have a BB. P class? We do, uh, that’s in German, Bach by po, which means belly, legs, buttocks. Okay. ’cause I, I, I was wondering, ’cause I saw in parentheses it says AKA belly, legs, buttocks. And I was like, but that’s not how the letters work. Right. Because if you look in the live class picture just above it mm-hmm.
Those letters do match. I see. If I spoke the German, you would know. I would understand. Yes. [00:48:00] Okay. And then the UK is celebrating Black History Month. They do it a different month over there? They do, yes. And so each week, this month, Peloton has put out new classes. We’re on week three and there’s a, uh, black UK walk with Jer Main.
There’s black around the world, ride with Cliff and Black uk, run with Hannah Frankston, and of course, Encore classes all week long. And rising Latin classes continue. Yes. Uh, four new ones this week and there’s one with Robin, Camila and Hannah Franken. Oh, wait. I’m so sorry. That was Hannah Corbin.
I’m so sorry. And also one with Becks as well. And if you just can’t get enough Broadway, Mariana has some for you. Yes, she does. 20 minute Broadway run. That hit this week on 10 21. I.
And there’s all sorts of long classes for people. Yeah, there’s 360 minute classes, one with Cliff, Camila, and Ash. And then Jess Sims is back for her next 60 Sims. 60 live. So lots going [00:49:00] on to speak with those longer classes. And Halloween is almost upon us. And Peloton has a badge challenge. They do. Yeah.
So, there’s a whole bunch of new classes coming and you’re gonna be able to, get a badge and it’s like if you take three classes, you get one. If you get five classes, you get the next level. And then if you take 10 classes, then you get a gold badge. So all for Halloween.
And, uh, speaking of Halloween, there are all sorts of classes and over@theclipout.com, we have an article walking you through what all those classes. Shelby, yeah, Kimberly Holiday, um, went through and like did a whole listing.
So she gave you breakdown on how the badges work, what the live and demand options are, and and then also, um, gave you a huge list. So there’s a ton that are gonna be dropping on October 25th. Most of those are on demand, but there’s also several live classes. There’s gonna be some on Sunday, October 26th and Tuesday, October 20.
Eighth. Um, some ones that you really wanna pay attention for that we [00:50:00] think are gonna be fun, are gonna be a two for one Halloween ride with Mila and Eric. There’s gonna be a nostalgia ride with Charlotte and Leanne’s Halloween ride. And of course I have to put in a special plug for Maddie’s. I knew that’s what you were gonna say.
Listen, he always has the most creative costumes. He just does. And it’s also Maddy. And he’s getting married very soon. Yes. Um, and, uh, I think it’s really cool. Yeah. And then, uh, Peloton has partnered with HSS, which means you are getting injury prevention classes. This was all part of the rollout from Peloton.
Whenever they said, Hey, you’re getting a bunch new of this content, like breathwork. Mm-hmm. But they have officially rolled out the collections and there’s. There’s a bunch of them. There’s one for bone health. There’s one for desk worker strength and mobility, tennis, elbow runner’s, knee postpartum movement.
And there’s a couple of German ones that I don’t know what they mean because I did not look them up and I don’t wanna butcher them. Um, so, oh, I’m sorry. Look, somebody did the work for me. Yeah, [00:51:00] yeah, yeah. Uh, power and mobility for the Office, which is taught by Marcel Mauer and Andy Spear. And then Strong Bones taught by Eric Jaeger.
And then, uh, finally Jess Sims, by the time you hear this, will have done her first run club. Yeah. Outdoor run club. Sorry. Well, it’s just, it’s just interesting. Yeah. ’cause we haven’t done, she’s, she hasn’t done an outdoor run club. Yeah. So it’s neat.
And we have two birthdays this week on October 24th. It is Matt Wiler, and the following day, October 25th, it is Emma Lovewell.
