Peloton’s Impending Partnership With Target Plus Our Interview With Erica McClean
How were your holidays?
I was sick for most of them. I had a good time though. I still enjoyed Christmas Eve. We went to your sister’s. I enjoyed Christmas Day, spending it with you and the kids, and my wonderful gift, but I wish I had felt better. How about you?
They were awful because you were sick.
I don’t know why it affected you.
I was waiting on you hand and foot. I am a caretaker.
You’re not a caretaker.
When you were hit by a car, I was a caretaker.
You were then. That, you can own and I will give that to you. You were an awesome caretaker.
There wasn’t much I could do. You were like, “I’m stuffy.”
I was tired. If you had a headache as I had, I would have brought you hot clothes for your sinuses. I didn’t get that.
Is that a thing?
Yeah, it’s a thing.
I don’t do that for myself.
That’s because you don’t ever have headaches that bad.
How would I know?
You didn’t ask what you could do for me. I’m just saying.
I got you Advil for cold and sinus.
That, you did do. Brian went and bought it from the store.
I had extra stashed in my backpack for travel purposes that I went and scrounge up for you.
That is true.
That’s what I got you for Christmas.
That’s a great present.
There’s a bunch of Advil for cold and sinus. I am romantic at heart. What pray tell do you have in store for people?
We have our interview with Erica McLean. I always look forward to these. This has become an annual tradition. Erica comes on and does a tarot card reading for all of Peloton. This is the episode. This is where it’s getting posted.
We also graded her report card for how she did last year. There were some things where she was crazy spot on.
That article will go up on Thursday. By the time people hear this episode and it’s posted, probably even our Patreon listeners, they will be able to read that article. It will be live.
Also, over on the Patreon. We talk about face age and how that’s becoming a new thing.
It’s fascinating. For example, this guy is 90-something years old. He has cancer and goes in to do surgery. The doctor is like, “I’m not sure that he can handle the surgery, but he sure looks young.” He does the facial age check and it validates his results. This man gets surgery based on that. We’re going to dive into what that means for the future and what that looks like.
We’re also going to talk about Ozempic food labels. They’re now branding food for Ozempic. Let’s talk about Peloton stuff and some other classes you might have missed that we won’t get to in our content section, and also podcast appearances for instructors and maybe a lack thereof.
We’re also going to talk on this episode, not the Patreon episode, about Peloton possibly partnering with Target. It is a Clip Out exclusive. We also have a ton of top stories for 2024. We have the Peloton top stories. We have the top Peloton’s top tech features. We have the 100-day streak hype video. We have a visit from Dr. Jenn, talking about how to remember to take care of yourself. We have big instructor news that we’re going to be covering. We’re going to have some interesting competitor news to talk about. We have past guest updates of epic proportion, and it’s also a shout-out from an instructor. It’s a whole thing, and of course, our content and In Case You Missed It stuff.
We have no In Case You Missed It. We will miss nothing. Not one thing. Before we get to all that, shameless plugs. Don’t forget, we’re available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeart, and TuneIn. Wherever you find a podcast, you can find us. While you’re there, be sure and follow us so you never miss an episode. Maybe leave us a review. That is super helpful. It is. You can also find us on Facebook at Facebook.com/TheClipOut. While you’re there, like the page and join the group. It’s the best way to stay up to date on things throughout the week.
You can check out our Patreon. If you like the show so much and you would like to give us $5, we would like to take your $5 over at Patreon.com/TheClipOut. For $5, you get all sorts of bonus content. You get an extra 15 to 30 minutes a week of bonus episodes. You also get ad-free episodes. These episodes will have no ads in them. If we get it early, you get it early. Most importantly, we like you a little bit extra. You could also sign up for the newsletter at TheClipOut.com and watch all of these on YouTube, the Way of the Future, at YouTube.com/TheClipOut. There’s all that. Let’s dig in. Shall we?

Our crack investigative team has discovered a secret page at Target.com.
It’s fascinating because we’ve talked a lot on different episodes about how Peloton has been expanding. In the last year and a half, they’ve been showing up in places that we had never seen Peloton before. Just this past year, there was there were additions to what they sell on Amazon. They also started selling apparel on Nordstrom.
Now, we see a pair of Peloton Cadent leggings on sale at Target and already listed as sold out. Once we do a little digging, we notice that it shows new on Target and it says, “Sold and shipped by Peloton.” That link is gone now. When you search for Peloton on Target’s website, it doesn’t exist but it did. Our thought is that this is some partnership that hasn’t gone live yet. They are in the testing phase.
It’s in progress. They’re getting the pages built. One snuck through and popped up on our radar.
They probably had it live for the test and then forgot.
There’s a way to have them where they don’t push out into the SEO world and there are 40 of these pages, and one got tagged improperly. It is fascinating and you also have to wonder because we’re hearing about more store closures.
I was told there’s another store closing in January in California. One of our listeners works at a store in Michigan and they closed that store.
You can’t help but think whether there will be more than just clothes being sold at Target. Will we see equipment and other accessories?
It looks similar to what they have been doing at Amazon and Nordstrom, exporting goods.
From a brand extension standpoint, Target is perfectly on-brand for Peloton and way more so than Walmart. We would say that as Walmart shoppers. Walmart is a brand that has a lot of baggage. There are no people on the Target website that we know of.
Also, it’s worth noting that when I was digging around on the link while it was live, one of the things that I found interesting with that you could return it even though it’s sold through a third party. Now, it’s not completely live, so that could change.
That could change because it also said from a shipping standpoint that those leggings weighed 454 pounds.
That’s not true.
They’ve been taking a lot of heat from people who are mad about the $9 return policy, and the most heat from the people who abuse it the most frequently. You do wonder whether we are going to see less apparel sold through the website or maybe the evergreen apparel that’s always in stock and that isn’t hard to get will be available at Target, and the more short run or more of a collector type of thing will live on their website, knowing that that’s designed to sell out like in the old days.
It’s a great question. I also thought it was interesting that when Helper Bee Tina was writing this article, one thing that she wondered about was whether could it be an expanded availability like the collaboration. Maybe it’s not just apparel. Maybe it’s accessories. Maybe it’s a Peloton yoga mat or that kind of thing. What if they did special lines for Target, like a unique affordable apparel line that was just for Target shoppers? There was nothing to indicate that’s the case because these leggings that were live were the ones you would see on Peloton’s website, Cadent for $88. That was not on sale. It’s interesting. We will keep an eye on it though.
Peloton also had a post talking about different statistics within the community. These always fascinate me. When do you like to workout? 16% said in the evening, 24% said whenever, and 60% were in the morning
That makes sense to me because, by and large, Peloton members have historically been type-A people. Type-A people are the kind that will make a list and they get it done. I feel like that’s part of like, “I got to get it done in the morning or it won’t happen.” Not everybody who does it in the morning is a type-A person, I realized that. I’m just saying it makes sense to me that that’s a larger number.
Then you get the type B’s like me.
You’re an afternoon guy, which is crazy.
Most people who want to workout do it in the morning for that reason. They know that they did it.
Life for me gets too hard. Kids need things, last-minute stuff for the website, and everything. It all comes up around 3:00, then there’s not going to be any exercise. By the time I get done with whatever stressful event occurred at 7:00, I’m not going to workout. That’s not going to happen.
I’m like, “The kids can take care of themselves.”
I know, which is why I do it.
Also our website stuff. That’s what you are for.
We have all the helper bees and the tipsters. We have a whole team and it’s still too much. There are so many things happening. The next question they asked was, “How many days a week do you workout?” Do you see more of these questions?
I did. I just scrolled to the next one. The average answer is six days a week.
I feel like that self-reporting is a little high.
Are these self-reported? I didn’t know.
They are. Last week when we didn’t have an episode, they had a story that was like, “Answer these questions,” and so people answered and that’s the answers they’re getting.
For a lot of this data, they could just pull. They don’t need to ask.
That’s not what they did.
That’s dumb, Peloton.
I think they were trying to have an engagement because it is the last week of the year and they had not a lot to say.
You can just pull this data. You don’t need to ask us because you know this information. I agree. I think most people if they’re saying six, they’re probably counting meditation.
Meditation is not a bad thing. I wouldn’t consider that a workout. Is it something that you do for your health? Absolutely and you should, but I don’t know that I would consider that a workout. Peloton counts it.
There you go. The average is six. The next one is, “My longest streak of the year was,” so 30% said 2 to 50 days, 16% said 51 to 150 days, and then 54% said 151 or more days a year was their longest streak.
Again, I think there’s a lot of meditations being counted, so does Peloton. That’s what they counted.
I would think of this setting as if they asked me, I’m like, “You’re counting blue check marks.” You’re pouring up and looking at your blue check marks.
Where did you sweat the most? I thought this was interesting, 62% on the bike, 27% on the tread, 10% on the mat, and 1% on the row. Poor row.
I wonder how people are interpreting this question. Are they interpreting this like, “Which piece of device do I use the most frequently?” or “Which device makes me sweat the most?”
I heard it as “Where do I spend the most time?”
I heard it as “Which one makes me sweat the most?” and then my head went like if you don’t own all three, you can’t answer the question.
There are a lot of people who don’t.
You think that there is going to be something ending with, but there's going to be something new to start with this ending. Share on XFor sure, it’s unrealistic to expect a large number of people to own three. Tons of people don’t even have the room even if they have the budget or desire. I’m curious. As someone who owns all three, which produces the most sweat from you?
Either way, you want to answer it. This particular year, it was the tread by far because I was training for a marathon. 2024 for me was the tread. Because I spent more time there, I sweated more.
You’re going to do one workout and you are going to receive $100 per ounce of sweat.
I sweat more on the tread because you’re you’re using all of your body for much longer periods of time. That’s for me when I work out. That’s why. I sweat on the bike but I’m not the person who’s dripping. I’ve never been the person who was worried my bike was going to rust. That wasn’t me. I sweat but I’m not the person that’s dripping everywhere.
Some people got a shower.
It’s not that I’m not working out as hard. It’s just that my body doesn’t produce that much sweat.
I guess this one is, “Which modality do you use the most?”
Yeah. What are you doing the most on the mat? If you’re going to break down just the mat, are you doing stretch, yoga, or Pilates? By far, it was strength at 68%.
Yeah, versus 17% for stretching, 10% for yoga, and then 4% for Pilates. The last one is, “Do you do your warm-ups and cool-downs?”
48% said yes, 34% said no, and 19% preferred not to answer, which means no.
Nobody’s like, “I’m ashamed that I warmed up.” If you said no answer, that’s the same as when a reporter shoves a microphone in your face like, “Did you know the hooker that was in your car?” “No comment.” No comment means, “Yes, I hired her.”
The thing about warm-ups and cool-downs, I’m going to rely on type A again, at least for myself. I’ve already invested so much time in the workout. I had to get that done. I don’t always have to get the warm-up in the cool-down done. I don’t have time. If you’re going to do an hour and a half workout or an hour and a half run, if I didn’t build in five minutes on the front end and I didn’t build in five minutes of that hour and a half, it’s not going to happen. I worked out for an hour and a half. Leave me alone.
I know I don’t do Peloton, but I do Tonal.
You do and you never ever do your cool down. That drives me crazy.
Not once. I will do the warm-ups. I cut them short but I do them. Sometimes Tonal will have an eight-minute warm-up. I was like, “That’s a lot.”
It’s funny that you say that because I have been taking Rebecca Kennedy’s three-day split program. The first and second days both had an eight-minute warmup and a nine-minute warmup respectively. I thought that was interesting.
That’s too much. I don’t need all that.
Unlike Tonal, you can’t skip. On Total, you can go straight to the workout, but I know I need to do it. The older you get, the more important those warm-ups and cool-downs are. The earlier you start, the more benefit you’re going to see for them.
I figure I don’t need the cool down because I’m not doing anything that hard anymore.
That’s not true.
I’m already cold down.
Your easiest workout is like lifting 11,000 pounds. That’s “easy” for you. I think you’re giving a little of what you get yourself credit for.
It is the end of the year. It’s not the end of the year unless you have end-of-the-year lists and we are no different.
I love hearing how people view these things though. I love hearing the different takes on these that our helper bees do because everybody has a slightly different way of viewing things. I find it fascinating.
I think that’s part of why they’ve become so popular. They drive engagement from various platforms of people who are like, “That’s not the best movie of the year. This is the best movie of the year.” Just a quick overview of what were the big news stories.
This was written by Helper Bee Elizabeth.
Peloton instructor changes.
That’s a big one. That belongs on the list, for sure.
Every year, that one is going to.
This specific one this particular year, when they had twelve weeks at a time when we’re not seeing instructors. That’s not even what she’s talking about here though. She’s talking about how Camila joined the strength team, the first Spanish-cycling series, Erik and Mariana joined the tread team, Emma joined teaching hikes, Camila, Katie, and Joslyn joined the strength team, Rebecca and Irene are teaching Pilates, Becs joined the row team, and Christian Vande Velde officially joined the Power Zone team. That’s a lot.
We also have a new focus on strength training.
We had the Density 2 program, benchmark classes, the split programs, bootcamp number two with Matty, walking bootcamps on the tread, Jess Sims’s Sims ‘60s, then we had Ben’s stronger use at the barre with Ally and Hannah, strong core, strong body 2, and the biggest probably of strength training is the Strength Plus app beta test, which has now rolled out and its own standalone app now. These are huge.
I know the Lululemon thing started in 2023, but it came into its own throughout the course of 2024.
They started having those Lululemon member weekends, those invitation-only events that they had. We had Trish who was there, and she got to be there in person and see those. Those are cool too.
Yes, then all the in-studio surprises from the various music artists.
Keith Urban, Lil Jon, and then they had the Defective Records over in the UK. That was cool.
There are lots more. If you want to check this out, it’s over at TheClipOut.com. Don’t forget, you can sign up for our newsletter. You’ll get a link sent right to you, so you don’t have to go hunting for these.
We also have a whole thing about Taylor Swift. As Elizabeth wrote here, it’s not 2024 without talking about Taylor Swift. It was her year.
One of the biggest shows at the arena this year was a Taylor Swift tribute band. We sold over 6,000 tickets. It was crazy cool. It was such a big deal. It was mentioned in the US Weekly because apparently, one of The Real Housewives was at the show. I guess one of the real housewives is from Saint Louis.
She couldn’t have been sitting for us because of the way that the picture was taken. We were very close. I didn’t notice that she watched the show. Had she said hello to me, I would have known who she was.
We have a nice write-up. She was like, “I went to this thinking it was going to be dumb and it was awesome. We brought the heat in terms of the production.
We talked about that for forever. This article mentioned leadership shifts at Peloton with the new CEO taking the helm. There was a pair of CEOs taking the helm. In 2025, they have a new one. Several instructors are leaving. How do you have this conversation talking about that? Two instructor weddings, how do you not talk about those? One of our Peloton corporate team staffers won the Olympics. How do you not talk about that? These were great stories.
We also had a lot of cool tech stuff in the last year.
We did, and I already mentioned about the Strength Plus. I won’t say that one again, but it was interesting that they had shoutouts delivered to your inbox. It seems like those were just a test because they went away at least for most people. I don’t care about them anymore. The Fitbit partnership expanded access with Peloton. They could get classes directly from their devices in some countries. First of all, it became the entertainment tab, and they Peloton Originals for the first time, and they added Amazon Kindle, which was cool.
Also, this year, which feels like it should have been way longer ago, you could connect with friends and you could block unwanted contacts. At long last. I’ve been asking for that since my stalker started three years ago or two and a half years ago, but it finally happened. Now, you can also create teams and you can find friends. You can also block hashtags, and then Lanebreak came to Tread+, which was so cool and track workouts for tread runners, which I had completely forgotten about.
Not to mention metrics classes focusing on performance. Those eliminate instructor chatter and members can concentrate on performance data, and then, of course, enhanced ride features like auto resistance and music control. We know Music Control is currently on a hiatus but it will be back. At least they say it will. Those are the big ones.
Not to mention Strength Plus. We talked about that and Pace Targets. Power Zone for running is what that is and that hit the tread this year as well. So much good stuff that Peloton did. We get lost in the everyday shuffle about all the good things that are still being brought. They’re still making sure that we have new content. They’re still making sure that we have lots of cool things happening. I think people do lose sight of it.
They do, especially compared to what the other platforms have.
Other platforms are getting smaller, not larger.
Also, the 100-Day Streak Challenge is upon us and they have released a hype video.
They did. You know what? I realized I started today and I didn’t freaking get credit for it. I take the credit for it because I did Rebecca Kennedy’s. I was thinking I did Tonal there for a second.
I saw you. I was doing Total. You were doing Peloton, but you were gazing lovingly at my jacked form on Tonal, so in your head, you’re like, “I did a Tonal.”
That’s 100 Day Streak, and it doesn’t matter if it’s mobility, meditation, yoga, or stretching. It all counts.
More people were in the 151 category when they asked that question.
They do and they want to be able to say that you’re engaged. They want to be able to say they are the most engaged platform. You’re only helping Peloton when you do that.
You’re only helping yourself.
You’re helping yourself no matter what if you do any of those things, but you’re also helping the company which most of us should want to do. If you’re listening to this show and you hate Peloton, I honestly don’t know why you’re here. I know there are some.
They’re out there. Coming up after this, we’re going to talk to Dr. Jenn. She’s going to have tips on helping you remember to take care of yourself while you’re taking care of all those other people in your life. Stick around.
—
Joining us once again is Dr. Jenn Mann, a licensed marriage, family, and child therapist, and sports psychology consultant. You may know her from VH1’s Couples Therapy with Dr. Jenn, VH1’s Family Therapy with Dr. Jenn, or her long-running radio show The Doctor Jenn Show. She’s written four bestselling books including The Relationship Fix: Dr. Jenn’s 6-Step Guide to Improving Communication, Connection and Intimacy. It’s Dr. Jenn.
Hello.
We have a great question for you coming from Lindsay Kelly. She says that she struggles with others’ needs. The kind that she can’t put aside because she’s a parent, being time-consuming and emotionally overwhelming, leaving pretty much no time left outside work and meeting those needs for her to do anything, but barely maintain her health and insanity. I feel you.
I do too. Do we know the ages and numbers of children she has?
If I remember correctly, she has at least three children and they’re like 15, 18, and then a little bit younger too. It might be more kids. I know that for sure. I don’t want to overkid her.
One of the things that’s interesting about that is I think we prepare for that in the baby years and the toddler years.
Nobody talks about how much they need you as teenagers.
It is so true because you’re like, “They’re going to hate me. They’re going to want nothing to do with me,” but they need you even more. They have also all of these life events, like college applications and all kinds of things that they need you for in a very different unique way. That’s very interesting to me that she has older kids.
To answer the question, first of all, the more systems that we can get in play as parents, the better. We tend to think, “I run my work life a certain way and I run my family in a completely different way.” That has nothing to do with it and it’s fully disconnected. We need to bring the same focus and organization to our parent life and organize it that we do to our professional lives. We also need to be willing to accept help and give help wherever we can, the whole “it takes a village” thing.
There are moms I know who run smooth family systems by relying on other moms in their community. They’re like, “Could you get the carpool this day? I’ll get it that day because I have a business meeting.” We tend to shoot ourselves in the foot when we are like, “Nope, I’m not going to accept help. I can do it on my own.” The more help that we get from others in our lives, the better off we are. We have to put our egos aside and allow people who we trust and feel are safe people for our kids to help and to share that. With multiple kids, there’s a lot of driving people to places. Sometimes someone else can do that and help us.
Organization and acceptance help are the two key things. Also, do an analysis of like, “Where am I wasting time? Where could I be doing things better? When could I say to my kid, ‘You need to wait 30 minutes because I’m picking up your sibling at that location,’” and let them handle that. Let them bear a little bit of the burden. Sometimes we’re so busy trying to save our kids suffering or something that they don’t want to do that we overdo it at our own expense. That’s another area where you can do a deep dive and do an analysis of where you might be overdoing and where you can let go a little.
That is for sure. I’m guilty.
I was thinking about when they’re teenagers and they still need you. What makes it difficult and catches you off guard is that an infant, toddler, or child will tell you when they need you. Many times, teenagers will need you and they either won’t tell you or they won’t admit that they need you. Now, you’re also trying to do this dance where it’s hard to suss out if they need you or if you have to help them in ways without them feeling like you’re helping them.
I say this a lot with young kids but it’s 100% applicable to teenagers even more so. Kids who feel good will act good. If your kid is acting bad or if they’re acting out in some way, something is wrong. Most people’s natural inclination is to be like, “Stop doing that.” They get in a fight about it to change the behavior or yell at their kids about it. Instead, get curious. Ask the question, “What’s going on that you’re feeling that way? What’s going on that you’re raising your voice?” Get to the bottom of it.
There’s an amazing book that came out 30 years ago at least called How to Talk So Kids Will Listen & Listen So Kids Will Talk. It’s one of the best books about communication. They have a teenage version and a younger kids version. It will never get old. I don’t care how much things change in the world. Those philosophies and ways of communicating are still important for parents. I highly recommend it. I didn’t write it. I don’t get anything from it, but go out and buy it.
A lot of people could use it.
Thank you so much for all that. Until next time, where can people find you?
On social media @DrJennMann, especially Instagram.
Thank you.

You have everything you need to make whatever it is to happen. Share on XWe had an announcement this week during our break. Bradley Rose and Sophia Parra are expecting a baby.
Later in the week, they wanted everyone to vote whether or not they were having a boy or a girl. It was an extremely close vote, but they did announce that they were having a boy. How exciting.
Whoever got the most votes was the gender of the child. Is that how that works?
No. They wanted to see what people say. They didn’t make that decision. They wanted to see who was right. Again, driving engagement. That’s what we were doing here. By we, I mean that’s what Bradley and Sophia were doing.
Congrats to them.
Very huge congrats.
Emma Lovewell has returned.
I guess by the time you hear this, it will be official on January 2nd at 8:00 AM Eastern, the first of two welcome-back rides. I’m so glad she’s back. It’s nice whenever the instructors come back after having a baby.
You’re going to get to enjoy instructors coming back much more frequently when they’re off for twelve weeks.
It’s like they’re all on maternity leave. They are cycling through. If you could just time having a baby with your next twelve weeks off, that would be great. Brad, we’re looking at you.
That’s what Peloton means by the rhythm method. Matt Wilpers was on vacation and ran into Kristin McGee.
Isn’t that funny? I love that story.
I’m glad it wasn’t like awkwardly avoiding eye contact because you’re not co-workers anymore.
I don’t think most people feel that way. There might be some instructors who have left that feel that way but Kristin McGee is not like that. She was sad to leave Peloton and the vibe came through, but it’s so great that they all got together. I love this story.
Coming back after this, we’re going to talk about artist series. We’re going to not only talk about the most recent one but we’ll give you a sneak peek at what’s coming up throughout January. Stick around.
—
The latest artist series features Zedd.
It does EDM.
That explains why I don’t know it.
I don’t know them either. I have heard of them but I don’t know them.
Is it a group or a guy?
It’s a guy. Because it says Zedd, in my head, it becomes a group, but it’s a guy. I don’t know anything about Zedd.
All I can think of is Pulp Fiction.
Why?
“Zed’s dead, baby. Zed’s dead.” That’s the guy who is keeping the other guy in the basement in the gimp costume. He runs the pawn shop. After Bruce Willis kills him, he gets on the bike and his girlfriend is like, “What about Zed?” He’s like, “Zed’s dead baby.” Spoilers alert for Pulp Fiction zeitgeist.
It’s like 30 years old now.
That’s frightening that that movie is 30 years old.
Yet, here we are. Getting back to Zedd, there will be six classes including one in Spanish and one in German. A full-body with Camila and there’s going to be a ride with Charlotte.
Fun fact. In Canada, Zed is called Z. Also, looking ahead to the month of January, we know what’s coming up.
If you go out to the studio link, you can see all these for yourself. We thought we would do a little overview because there is a lot of stuff coming up.
Speaking of spoilers, here we go.
The Lil Wayne artist series is coming up on January 9th. There will be four live classes on January 9th. There might be more that will drop besides that. Jelly Roll is going to be up on January 16th. We know of at least two live classes. It could be Becs and Denis Morton. On January 23rd, it’s Tate McRae. Now, Tate McRae is the rising star of Gen Z. You say so because I wouldn’t know.
We are not Gen Z, so we wouldn’t know.
That’s why we wouldn’t know. There are going to be at least three live classes on January 23rd with Cody Rigsby, Olivia Amato, and Katie Wang. On January 30th, Selena Gomez. I know her. At least two classes are going to be live that day. There’s going to be one with Ally Love and Camila Ramon. There’s also going to be a Two For One Spanish strength class that’s going to feature Camila Ramon and Rad Lopez on January 24th. It’s a special little nugget. Make sure we all keep our eyes on that. A lot of fun stuff is coming up in January.

Hydrow is making some changes to its monthly subscription package.
I thought this was interesting because apparently at the end of the year, they raised their prices but they gave people who had been members for a while an option to buy several months in advance and therefore keep the same rate.
If you want to give them a bunch of money upfront, they’ll drop the price for you and they get an infusion of cash.
They all have a twelve-month one that you can buy ahead of time. That gives you two months free by doing that according to the new fees, and then you could also do a two-year membership. That would give you five months for free or you could even buy only a six-month membership. According to the new charges, that would still give you a month free. I thought this was interesting because number one, people over in the Hydrow group were upset.
Are they upset that the price went up at all or is there another aspect of this?
It seems like there’s general frustration that it is. It’s like the same things we hear about Tonal where it’s like you get one thing, like you’re paying a membership and you only get one one thing. For Hydrow, you’re only getting rowing classes as opposed to around the same amount. These people are paying more than we pay at Peloton. We’re getting strength, rowing, running, biking, yoga, and pilates. We’ve said for a long time that Peloton is a great deal.
It’s a great value proposition.
I also think it’s interesting because Hydrow, a couple of weeks ago, announced that they had a new product that was going to be dropped that had no subscription rate whatsoever. The reason I find all this interesting is that I think that the world of connected fitness is changing the game. Peloton set the standard. Even though lots of people don’t want to give him credit for that, they did. They invented connected fitness.
All these others that came behind it have to respond to the environment in the same way Peloton does. People get so frustrated with Peloton. I announced the Target thing today and one of the typical responses is, “Welcome to the Titanic. Peloton is sinking.” It’s the usual shit, but my point is to compare that with what Hydrow is going through. They have one thing they do.
They have one modality.
That’s it. Their prices are going up and now they are finding ways to have it without a subscription cost at all, but then you’re not going to have any live classes. You can’t have it both ways. Maybe we should all collectively appreciate what we have and get off Peloton’s ass.
If you already have a Hydrow, I get that you’re more inclined to stick with what you have.
It’s interesting that you say that as well because a lot of people mentioned that they had gone over to Peloton, and they use an iPad on their rower to take Hydrow classes, or they get Peloton classes rather on their Hydrow and they use it as a rower.
You also have to think if you’re in the market for a row machine of some sort and you see all the stuff Peloton has, even if you think you’ll never touch it and you know there’s a chance you might, why would you not?
It’s not that Hydrow’s machine is so much better than Peloton. It’s that Peloton is more expensive. You can get a Concept2 rower, the one that doesn’t connect to anything. It’s a lot cheaper. I think it does some stuff on the internet now, so please don’t at me, but it’s not the same as Peloton at that point. You used to do a Concept2. It had no internet access whatsoever, so you have rowers like Hydrow that are still not as expensive as Peloton but have their built-in interface and everything. If you’re a person who likes to see all the details on the machine, which I do. I would not want to use my Peloton rower and take a Hydrow class. That would drive me a little nuts. I understand why people do it.
You don’t shame people for doing it. For you, it would irritate you.
If it was the only choice I had, I would get over it. You have to at some point, but if I have the choice, I’m going to have it all-inclusive. For me, that makes more sense with Peloton. If money is an issue and you don’t want to spend $4,000 on a rower, you can get a rower for $2,000, still have all the Peloton classes, but also pay less per month, why would you not?
If you have somebody else in your home, that might also piggyback this membership. It’s like, “I’m going to do the row stuff but my wife or husband can do the tread or the bike at no additional cost.” All of a sudden, the price starts dropping. It’s interesting.
Don’t forget, if you have the Guide, you can still take those Peloton row classes even without a Peloton rower because you get all of the classes when you have a Peloton Guide membership. It’s the best deal they have.

We have a fun past guest update this week.
I can’t remember what episode Yanina was on. She was, in my head, one of the first people that I ever wanted to interview. Back in the day, when we first started this show, Yanina was the person I wanted to interview because she always did these fun posts where she would take a Starbucks cup and whoever had a milestone that day, she would write them on her cup. I loved the inclusiveness of that, the community aspect of that. It made me so happy and I wanted to learn how this started. She was one of the first people.
It appears she was in episode 25.
Yanina Livingston was on the show way back in 2018. She recently got married to a fellow Pelotonian Kevin Jarnot. They each have kids. This is a blended marriage like ours. They were getting married and you have to remember, for people who don’t know this whole backstory, that they met through Peloton. They only met because of Jenn Sherman, because Jenn Sherman was the great connector back in the day and these people met in person live.
They took classes in the studio back when you could just go and get a class. I wasn’t a whole thing. You just swing by. They met in the studio and eventually, they fell in love and they now got married. Jenn Sherman, having orchestrated this whole relationship, couldn’t be at the wedding, but that did not stop Jenn’s Men specifically Gordon and Andrew Kovar. They went to Jenn Sherman and they said, “Can you record something special?”
Jenn Sherman recorded probably the greatest shout-out of all time, though there have been a few to Howie that have been up there. She recorded an intro that they played to their wedding and then they came out as flower boys. They were wheeled out on a Peloton down the aisle and they threw flowers at everyone from their Peloton while Jenn Sherman did an intro like she would start any class. She talked about how much she loved Yanina, Kevin, and all of the OGs. Many of which were in the audience.
It was a who’s who wedding and it was very magical. The funniest part was that Yanina wasn’t even there because she hadn’t done her walk down the aisle yet. It was the people coming before. They took a video of it and she got to see it. She had so much love for Jenn Sherman doing this. She asked for us to mention this, but it’s a great story. This is what the Peloton community is all about. This is what I love about Peloton. The fitness is a byproduct as far as I’m concerned, but the amazing friendships and relationships that have led to weddings are all so amazing.

It is time for the TCO Top Five, our first TCO Top Five of 2025, but it’ll all be stuff from 2024 because time is a flat circle. Starting with the first one, your favorite ride.
It was a 30-minute ‘80s ride with Bradley Rose. He taught it. Roz Hurwitzright loved this. She nominated this class. She said, “Bradley got off the bike during the class and walked around the studio. His walkabout and the nostalgic ‘80s music were a great way to distract riders from this 25 intensive minutes of riding, including two climbs, two jogs, and two-speed intervals.”
Number two, your favorite walk.
How could it not be Matty? It was a walk and talk and he reviewed the entire 2024 year. He does it all in pop culture. First of all, we have to mention that he wore a sequin tuxedo shirt and it was like a t-shirt, then he had an amazing playlist. It was the holiday hits and it was all music to celebrate the new year. They were all sung by Matty’s favorite diva. You have Cher, Celine, and all that. There’s also a big reveal. I can’t tell you what that is. All I can say is you have to stay till the very end when Matty reveals his favorite diva of 2024. It’s not a person.
Number three, your favorite holiday walk.
This was taught by Kirsten Ferguson. It was from 12/22, 30 minutes. Danette Royal Giles loves this watch. She enjoyed the opportunity to have a peaceful workout in the midst of all the holiday hustle. The class had a truly relaxing playlist of traditional Christmas music. How about that?
Number four, your favorite bike bootcamp.
This was taught by Cody. It was a 30-minute bootcamp 50/50. I say that surprisingly because we haven’t had a lot of bike bootcamps in a while. People were super excited about this. Katie Bromley nominated this class and she said it is the polar opposite of Kirsten’s walk, but can still help you de-stress. She laughed so hard. It was a great workout and Cody was hilarious. Take a look at the playlist for this class. You will see a theme emerging. Let’s say this class will have you laughing your ass off.
Finally, the class is so tough that you dare not stack it with another one. We call it the unstackable.
This was taught by Andy Speer, 60-minute total strength from 11/24. Courtney Marissa nominated this class. She said it was offset loading that made it even more challenging. She said, “I’ve taken a bunch of Andy strength classes. This one was a bit more a bit of a mind fuck. I hope the children were out of the room. Andy used the concept of offset loading where you put different weights in each hand for a deceptively hard workout. The music was on point and each song played on the playlist better than the last. I love this class, but I was not prepared to have to use my whole brain so early in the morning to keep my body balanced with one heavy and one lighter weight.”
That’s weird.
It’s hard because I often take two classes. When you’re doing running classes, you do a lot of working on one side or the other because you’re trying to increase the muscle on that. Things like a rear using only one hand and one leg are so hard on your core. That’s where you get your balance help from. I’m sure with two different weights, it did even more of that.
We will now take a look at this week at Peloton.
Things happen. This is life. Just pull yourself together. Share on XLots of new fun stuff coming up this week. Of course, the Jess King experience. They did an encore or an on-demand on December 31st. It was the last class you took for New Year’s. It was the idea. It was all glittery. You’re going to have a Brittany Allen outfit and it’s going to be amazing. I’m already past New Year’s at this point mentally. I never get that into New Year. This isn’t my thing. For people who are, this is a huge deal. People get excited about this.
Something that people can still be looking forward to this week that they haven’t had a chance to take are new dance cardio classes that dropped. They also dropped on December 31st, but there are new classes with Callie, Camila, and Leanne. That’s a first, ladies and gentlemen. We also have a party class with Jon Hosking. It was called At The Club and it was a walk plus run. That went as an outdoor class.
We also have the return of the Music Countdown classes.
This all took place last year or last week because it was counting down to New Year’s, but people love these classes. Some things that they added this year that I thought were interesting were a German song’s countdown 10 through 1, and they did a Spanish song’s countdown 10 through 1, then they did a Lanebreak top 50 remixed. All of that was new to the Top 50 music countdown this year.
Another thing that I thought was interesting is originally on the schedule, they had no walk-plus-run classes but they ended up dropping several, so that ended up happening. The other thing that I thought was interesting is that in past years, they have started it off by listing the class as a premiere early in the day like midnight, let’s say, and then listing it as encore later in the day. In theory, people who are waking up like in the UK can have it as a premiere, then later in the day, if you’re waking up in the US, you could then take those classes or other countries. This year, they listed them all as an encore. I don’t know if that was an oops like they forgot to do it. I’m not clear why that happened. I thought that was fascinating. I wanted to point out since I was doing my research that this was interesting too. We’ve been doing this since 2020. Does that seem possible? The top 50 countdown has been going on since the 2020 year. It’s probably why I don’t remember. Four years.
That would do it.

Finally, our first Peloton birthday of the year goes to Adrian Williams. His birthday is on January 9th.
Happy birthday, Adrian.
Happy birthday to Adrian. Coming up after this, we have our interview with Erica McLean. She’s going to do her annual tarot card reading and prediction for what Peloton can expect in the coming year. We will also hit some highlights of things that she got right eerily so in 2024. Sit tight.

2025 Predictions For Peloton
Joining us is Erica McLean. Our long-time listeners may know the rhythm by now. At the end/beginning of the year, depending on how dutiful we are with recording editing, we had Erika on. She’s a tarot card reader and she gives us her predictions for Peloton for the upcoming year. By the time you hear this, there should be an article out there that has a report card for you for 2024. There are some pretty impressive things on there.
You got a lot right last year. I don’t want to cloud her cards.
It was creepy right with a high degree of specificity. A lot of times, this stuff feels like they’re dancing around it like, “We could maybe read it that way.” There are some things where you give names and dates, and like kapow.
No pressure. It’s for fun. I told you this one when you and I first started talking. I was like, “I don’t believe in any of this or anything,” but every time you do a reading, I want to because you’re so good at it. You make it compelling.
Thank you very much. I can’t wait to see that article. I’m not going to look at it for a little bit though. I have been preparing for this all week, pulling cards here and there. There’s one card that I kept getting even today when I played again with them and the card popped up again, which is the last card of the deck. It’s the world, which does mean the completion of something.
Don’t be scared. It’s not the completion of Peloton. That’s not what it is. You think that there is going to be something ending and there’s going to be something new to start. With this ending, I don’t know what it is. I don’t think it’s bad. It might be something that people are nervous about at first, but then they realize this is good. It’s going to take us to a good place.
Maybe she’s predicting the end of The Clip Out.
My first reaction was, “Oh, no, this could be bad,” then my second reaction was like, “Look at all the free time we have. We can get our lives back.”
Instructor Spotlight: Jess Sims
It’s not a completion of that. It’s a completion about something within Peloton. Honestly, it could be an instructor or somebody new coming on. I think it’s something within the platform. Speaking of podcasts, I did go down a rabbit hole with tarot cards about Jess Sims for some reason. I don’t know if she’s going to have her own podcast sometime in 2025 or be a co-host like how Becs is right now, which has started or she’s going to be a frequent guest speaker on a podcast.
I got a lot of Jess Sims vibes. This had to do with basketball and college games. It’s geared toward the female athlete because I feel a lot of times, no one acknowledges that. It’s always the NBA and those teams or whatever. She’s a good staple at expressing how women are in sports, athletics, and fitness. She could take that to the next level and do something with a podcast and get even more noticed than she is now.
I also saw that she could get an offer for something within broadcasting aside from what she’s doing now. I know she only does it a short amount of the year. She covers games. This could be a full-year type of thing. I do see it has to do with basketball, just a bigger contract. I feel this is almost a decision that she needs to make within that. I do see a lot of travel for her this 2025.
Don’t be surprised if you see her doing daring things. You could see her skydiving or doing something on a motorcycle, jet skis, or something. I have that impression of her. I do think that she’s going to be more noticed in the athlete world and the women’s world of athletics. She’s a staple for that so we may see a little bit less of her, but she still will be here. This is something that she wanted to do. That’s the vibe that I got. Do you have any questions about that?
You don’t see her leaving Peloton. You see this in addition to Peloton, but the frequency that we see her might look different.
Yes. In March, I see her traveling a lot. This is traveling for work, but other jobs. I think this is around women’s basketball or college basketball. I do see her maybe posting fun things that she does while traveling. For some reason, I see her on a motorcycle or doing something crazy funny. I don’t see her leaving. I see March as a busy month for her, traveling.
Instructor Spotlight: Callie Gullickson
I know I predict babies a lot. Everyone is talking about Selena. That could very much be, but Callie came to my mind again. I know she had just a baby. I feel like there’s a decision that she’s going to have to make come the Spring around April. I don’t know if it’s a decision because she gets pregnant again or she wants to get pregnant again. I do see in October she is either having another baby or being pregnant. I see a girl. I see this is almost meant to be. I don’t know what it’s like. I wrote angel. When I do angel, it’s meant to happen. I do see a decision for her in April.
Predictions On New Peloton Instructors
We were talking about new instructors. I was talking before about completion. It is a possibility for new instructors. I do see a stress about finances to not hire within. Right now, the drift I got is that it’s easier for Peloton to hire within their instructors, to hire instructors for the row, and do all that because they already have a set amount of money they’re making. I do think that they are worried about taking on new people because the job is demanding. I do feel the flexibility is great with the instructors that are there.
However, I do see them having their eye on a younger male instructor. I feel this is an athlete but not an athlete we’ve heard about like a pro athlete. It’s somebody who played at D1 or something in college or something of an Olympic-type person. It is on the fence. I feel there have been talks within this person. This person does have a family. They don’t live in New York. This is a back-and-forth thing with them.
It’s almost like they’re in hoots with this other male person. I feel he is he got noticed by Alex. I can’t even say his last name, the rowing instructor. I take his classes. I love him. He’s from New Hampshire. I feel he’s almost a friend with him or someone that went to school with him or something. It could be within the rowing community or it could be within the riding.
Doesn’t he have a brother who used to work for Hydrow?
Budding Relationships In Peloton
He does. I saw his brother’s wife because I believe they live in Boston. They live where I live. His wife just had a baby. She had a baby on December 6th, which is my husband’s birthday. She had a girl. It could be. I see that’s the relation for the whole thing. There was one scandalous thing I wanted to get into. I don’t want anyone to hate me but I did have the energy of either two instructors or it’s an instructor that is interested in either another instructor’s friend or somebody that works within the community.
I see a relationship coming. I’m trying to look where I wrote this on my notes because I did have the energy of there being a relationship that you may hear about. It might not be as big as Andy and Rebecca. I do think it would be serious, but we’ll hear about it from one of the instructors. I almost think it’s an instructor’s friend. They meet through friends or somebody who works within Peloton. We may hear of a new relationship within the Peloton community, whether it’s an instructor-instructor relationship, instructor-friend of an instructor relationship, or an instructor relationship with somebody who works within Peloton.
I did have that the the male of the relationship was a little bit older and the female was a little bit younger. It’s not crazy but that’s the vibe I got. I almost got the energy that was a male instructor at Peloton. This person has a lot of experience in the fields that they’re in. That to me was more of an instructor vibe. I have the vibe that this is a sweet relationship.
I feel like these two people, even if it’s an instructor or a friend of an instructor, have known each other for a while. I have that age difference there. There could be some other relationship that we hear about. As for dates, this might not be until the summertime, like June. People might hear about it a little bit before, but I feel like something could come out around the summertime. I don’t know if you have questions about that.
I’m curious if you’re getting any vibe from this energy about what they teach, or if you can see what’s the experience it’s in.
I hate being like it’s this person or that person because then it’s not this person. It could be somebody else. This person could just be a good friend of the instructor, but I got almost Denis Morton’s energy. He was the first person that came. It was a Denis Morton energy. He’s not older at all, but he’s been there for a long time and has a lot of experience. He’s a little bit older than some of the other spin instructors. That’s what first came to my mind. Whether it’s him or maybe it’s a friend of his or someone that teaches spin. That’s the vibe. Any questions about that?
I don’t. Do you, Tom?
I’m scared to ask questions.
Instructor Spotlight: Alex Toussaint
I love Alex Toussaint. He’s probably one of my favorite cycling instructors. I have taken a lot of instructors in the studio, but I haven’t taken him. He was somebody that I wanted to take because I love him. I love his vibe and I love his energy. I got the vibes that he was working hard on something behind the scenes. We know he put out his sneakers. Those are a big hit. I have to sell order them because I want them. I do have that he could be working on something that’s like nobody knows about. It’s almost like he doesn’t even want to tell his friends in Peloton about it because he wants to keep it secret.
I got almost a CEO-type vibe of energy where he might be getting offered something within an athletic type of brand thing. We may see him in the spring giving back to the community. I don’t know if it’s working with younger kids or a type of charity for younger kids or younger athletes who want to make something of themselves but don’t have the means or the parental figure or support to do that if that makes any sense at all.
When I hear CEO, it makes me think of leaving Peloton. How do you do both?
I don’t see him leaving Peloton. I feel like a lot of his personal life is hidden. He’s very quiet very. He’s very personal. He doesn’t like to announce things or talk about his personal life. I pulled the magician when I was talking about him. I was thinking about him and I was like, “Let’s pull a card.” The magician is a card of you have everything you need to make whatever it is to happen. There’s something that he wants or he’s trying to do, whether he’s manifesting it or he’s working on it at the moment.
There’s something that he’s going to and he’s working hard at. I don’t think this thing is going to require a five-day-a-week type of job. I don’t see him leaving Peloton. I do see him working for a company around athletics. He’s doing Puma, Nike, New Balance, or something like that. It’s going to extend to the community as well.
I do see him going to Atlanta to do some stuff. I never get colors with people, but the color yellow kept on vibing around him, which is the sun, positivity, and sunshine. It deals a lot with your solar plex chakra. This could be a teaching type thing where he’s teaching his knowledge. I see it with younger kids. I do see him being a little bit less private as the year goes on.
Maybe in the summertime, we do hear about his personal life because I’ve heard that he was in a relationship. That’s what people have said. I don’t know if he’s going to bring that more to the table, whether it’s an engagement. He talks about this person more. I did write the start of the summer that we’re hearing more about that. I do have a teacher. There’s going to be a lot of him playing that role as a teacher, whatever that role is he is high up. I see him financially even more stable than he is.
That says a lot. He’s doing okay.
They’re all pretty stable, at least financially.
He’s going to have an opportunity almost that he can’t say no to money-wise. Any questions about that?
No. You answered the big question, which was him leaving. It doesn’t sound like that. That would be very interesting. He’s never had a public relationship that we members have seen. That will be very interesting if that is true.
Instructor Spotlight: Susie Chain
I don’t see him leaving. I just see him being able to get an offer. It’s like the whole Jess Sims thing that we talked about. This is more towards a branding-type thing. I love Susie Chan. She’s my girl. I did pick some cards around her. She has something else big on the horizon with another race. I do see her teaming up with a supplement-type thing. You may see her do some story on Instagram or do something with this, with her races and stuff. I do see another big type of Alta race for her at the end of spring or early summer. Also, I do see her giving back. Maybe working with charity and stuff like that.
With the race, can you tell what location it’s in?
Let me pull some cards for that. I see that she’s probably going to do London in 2025. I know she doesn’t need to raise money for that because she runs so many. I do see almost a charity-type thing with that. If it’s not London, I don’t know if it’s Berlin. It’s something that’s not in the US, doing more charity work. The big thing, I do see that this thing is a very competitive thing that she’s going to be doing. It’s something that not a lot of people get picked for. Whether she’s thinking about it now or whether she’s signing up for it now, it’s something that she thinks isn’t going to happen. She’s like, “This won’t happen,” but it will.
I do see her doing this with her husband because I know she and her husband do a lot of races together. This is going to be in June or the beginning of July. Either she does the race or she announces the race. Normally her things are hot. She does things in deserts like hot. This might be a little bit cooler weather. I see mountains and more hills.
There is more than one. She does have a bunch of them coming. That confirms the London that I was talking about. She has a lot of decisions to make around these races. There is one that she has her eyes on. As I said, the weather is a little nicer and more hilly. I don’t know why I’m seeing Jon Hosking. My sister loves him too. He’s her new favorite. She’s obsessed with him. I see him doing this with her. If it’s not this race, it’s one of the other marathons she’s doing.
He had to drop out of the marathon this year due to an injury. That would make sense that he would try again for a different marathon this next year. That is very interesting.
She too has a lot of things coming her way. We talked about the supplements. I do think there are a lot more things or a lot more people that are going to want to connect and use her to brand stuff and running-type things. This passed my mind. When things pass by my mind, I might as well say them. I wouldn’t be surprised if she started learning more about yoga and getting certified. I could see her teaching it or doing yoga for a runners-type thing with London.
I would be totally into that.
I see that could happen. Do you have any questions or anything?
Instructor Spotlight: Mariana Fernandez
You’re giving specific instructors. I’m curious if you see anything from Marianna. She’s another one of my favorites. One is Susie, but I want to hear about Mariana.
I love her too. I was looking this week and I don’t know why she didn’t come up at all. We’ll draw some cards for her. She is awesome and I love her. The cards that I pulled with her, we may see her slowing down this year from running. It could be because maybe she’s doing too much and she needs to slow down or she’s working on something else. She could write a book. There could be a book written by her. She had a lot to say and she had a lot of positive words and people listened to her.
I do see the end of the not even the spring, maybe it could be around the end of March. Her taking a little time off, whether she’s writing a book or doing something. I do see her taking a little bit of time to do that. I do see that she has a lot to say. I do see that there could be a book or something. As I said, that would be a book that she could be in the works or she’s thinking about.
I want to pull one more for her because I do love her so much. I do see her maybe traveling. It could be for a marathon or it could be traveling for family. I don’t see anything bad around her. I see her still doing great. Still doing all great things even new things. I almost see a wish being granted for her. This could happen at the end of January or the very beginning of February, as soon as that.
That is fast.
Any other questions?
Instructor Spotlight: Matty Maggiacomo
I was going to ask about Matty too. When you were talking about books, that made me think of Matty. He’s been writing a book with his mother. I know he’s got a wedding he’s working on. I know he’s got a book he’s working on, but I don’t know anything else about what’s going on with Matty.
I did see him because I got him for a card pole being at his best right now, being in love with everything, and super happy. Everything is going his way. I feel this is the time when he can sit and relax because even though he’s doing his walks, runs, and everything like that, I don’t see anything bad happening to him. Only good things are happening. Around the book, I do see that coming to fruition soon.
I do see him getting married this year. I don’t know when the wedding is. I’m seeing the number 5. It could be 5 months. It could be in May. It could be the 5th of the month or something that adds to 5. I do see the number 5, but I do see a ceremony-type thing. I do see that marriage happening this year. I see all new things happening for him. He’s at the beginning right now of such an amazing time. I know he’s talked about kids. I do see kids in his future. I don’t think it would be as early as this year. I see the number 2. Maybe in a couple of years, I see children for him. Any questions about that with him?
I don’t even want to speculate too much about that.
I do see some sort of competition with him though. This might not even be within Peloton but it could be something aside from Peloton. I don’t know what it is but I do see him standing up for something meaningful for him. It’s nothing bad relationship-wise. I feel like he almost gets knocked down or upset about a certain situation. You may hear him get upset about something. We may see him speaking up and using his voice on a particular subject, and him being able to get across to people. This could even start something new within him, whether it’s a blog or a group. I don’t know what it is, but I see him standing up for something personal with him.
He has a lot of passions around a lot of subject matters that are very much in the air right now. I could see him speaking up about some things.
A Prediction For A Mystery Instructor, Cody, And Rad
I don’t know why I’m seeing January 1st something. I feel we’ll see something. This might not be bad. This would be something regarding a wedding or something that he is doing come January. He might be doing some sort of class. Last year, he did an app thing. We might see something that comes up again. I do see January flashing at me with him. Before I talked to you, I was pulling some more cards. I got a decision around one of the instructors. I do have the instructor. If you want to talk about it later or now.
Save it for the Patreon. Make them pay for that.
It’s a decision that they have to make around some sort of situation. I don’t see this person leaving, but I do see having a decision, whether it’s joining together with somebody else in the Peloton community or joining together with somebody else like one of their friends or somebody. I don’t know. I see some sort of decision that this person has to make.
I also see another speak-up thing for this person, speaking up against something to protect somebody else. I do see this person also taking a little bit of time off. Specifically, I don’t know if it’s an injury or having to take a break because it’s needing that break, but being fine coming back and just another passionate thing with this person. They’re very passionate and speak up about something for the instructors.
I got Cody having a new relationship. I got a lot like Rad kept coming to my mind about something that was going to get fulfilled for him, almost like a wish or something that he’s been wanting or manifesting coming into fruition.
Is Somebody Parting Ways With Peloton?
Are you seeing anything about the employees or the instructors? Now they have twelve weeks off at a time. Are you seeing anything with their contracts, them taking that time off, or anything coming up like that?
Aside from some people taking a little bit of time off because of travel or for their health reasons. Let’s see about the whole instructor thing. I see somebody taking more time off than usual because I see a break needed. It’s almost like I feel overused, whether they’re working out. They’re doing too much and they need to stop and they need to take this break. I do see that. We could see that in October of next year. We could see something around a break for somebody.
When you know there's something else out there for you, but you're scared to take that next step because of the what ifs. Share on XI feel people are getting nervous that this person might not come back but they will. It’s just that they need this break. I do feel after coming back from that break, it’s a much-needed break. It’s something they’ve been needing to take for a long time, then they come back and they come back even stronger and better.
I hate this card. I pulled the Three of Swords, which is my heartbreak card. I feel the community is going to get upset about something. I think somebody is going to be leaving. This is going to happen around August. I feel like even the community of Peloton is upset about this because I don’t think they expected it. They have to pull themselves together to be like, “These things happen. This is life. It’s not that deep so just pull yourself together.” This is almost like the person deciding to leave. It’s not they get fired. It’s not like there’s bad blood. It’s their time to move on. It’s their moment to move on.
You’re not getting a Daniel vibe about this?
I’m not. I got it in my head. This is not Daniel. I do feel like this person speaks up a lot. They say it like it is. They’re not going to beat around the bush. Everybody isn’t their best friend. They have selected people that they love.
Is this a leftover Kendall card? That would happen if one gets stuck in the deck.
It’s not Kendall. This person even right now is worried about it. They lose sleep at night. It’s like when you know there’s something else out there for you but you’re scared to take that next step because of the what-ifs. I feel like this person is worried. They’re in their head a lot about it.
Is it male or female? Any vibes?
Originally, I got a male, but it could be a female. Let me pull a couple more. It doesn’t want to tell me because it’s male-female. We don’t know. I’m also getting that vibe where it doesn’t matter because this person is like a favor to everybody. I don’t know if they leave because they have something new. It’s something new on the table. I don’t even know if it’s related to fitness. It could be family. It could be a new hobby, a new love, or something else that’s calling their name, that they know they are going to succeed at and they’re going to make a life with, but they’re very good at this other thing too.
Eight: August As The Pivotal Month
What else is in your notes that you want to make sure we get to?
We talked about the new instructor. I’m getting a lot of the number 8, which 8 is a lucky number. It’s the eternity number. Eight would be August. I do see August being a big month. I don’t know if they’re having more things within the studio for the community. I don’t know if they are sending emails to healthcare workers because they acknowledging healthcare workers to take the classes. I know sometimes they’ll reach out to Peloton people who haven’t been to the studio. I see something happening around healthcare workers, nurses, doctors, or something like that. Whether that’s in August, I don’t know but I do see August being a pivotal month for things.
I’m going to pull a couple of more. I feel like these notes scatter me sometimes. I do see somebody getting recognition. I see this is maybe around another book. I feel like there are going to be a lot of books written. I know we talked about Mariana with a book, but this is somebody that you would at least expect to write a book. If it’s not a book, it’s something that they have up their sleeve that it’s like this came out of nowhere. We didn’t even understand.
I do see recognition around this. It could be Robin. I know that sounds weird because Robin always has all the stuff. It’s something that might come out of nowhere with her for recognition about something, whether it’s another book or something on the platform. If it’s not her, it’s one of the other female instructors on either the tread or bike that we will hear something coming about. Do you have any other questions?
Financial Outlook For Peloton
I’m wondering about the financial picture for Peloton. Are you getting any vibes? Last year, you had lots of feelings. I’m curious about this year.
I did get the whole thing with instructors and there was some sort of financial thing going on. This is why they’re not doing a lot of hiring. I feel like they have their eye on people, but they don’t want to hire them because of the money situation. It’s almost like I’m getting the vibe or the feeling that they need to find the right person to manage their money if that makes sense. I feel everybody that’s managing their money is doing it in the wrong way.
I honestly think they may take on another new female for the financial type of things with Peloton. I don’t know. They brought somebody on. I’m bad at about that, listening to that, or finding out about it. I know they got a new CEO. I don’t know this person, but this is a woman who comes on board and helps with the financial stuff and gets their ducks in a row. I feel like this will be around the springtime. I feel like they already have been in contact with the specific person.
She’s going to put things together, make more money available, or do more things to create more money for the company. I feel like nobody is doing that right now or the person that’s doing that is not knowing what they’re doing. I don’t even know if that would be the new CEO or if that’s all of their jobs, but there’s somebody that’s going to help with this. I do see this happening in the springtime. I do see them picking up a lot more financially than they are, like more gains.
I do see that there’s a decision that they’re making. The team, not the instructors. The team is already going back and forth with a decision around financial things. I feel it’s cutting stuff. It’s not necessarily instructors, whether raising prices somewhere along the line or doing something to make everything financially better for the company.
Predictions For The Clip Out
What about you, Tom? Do you have any questions about anything?
What does it look like for The Clip Out?
I pulled out my 8 of Pentacles card. I love that card because the 7 of Pentacles means you have a lot of work to do. You’ve done your work. I feel like this year for you, there’s going to be a relief. You’re going to get more listeners. The hard work is paying off for you. That’s basically what it is. I feel like there’s going to be a lot more recognition for you guys. My wish card came up or my yes card, which means yes. There are good things on the table for you.
I do see maybe even interviewing with an instructor. I don’t know why I’m getting Logan. I love Logan. I’m getting his face. I don’t know if it’s something where he comes to talk to you guys or you guys take a class of his or something like that. I do see great things coming for you. I also do see somebody else joining, like coming on to your podcast frequently.
I know you have Dr. Jenn. It’s something like that or it could be something with her that you guys are putting together for the near future. It’s funny because this card does deal with medical-type things too, like a medical person. You guys could be doing more things together that are being put out there for people to notice.
I love that.
Thank you very much for all the predictions.
Thank you for having me.
If people want to see how she did in 2024 and want to see if this is even worth your time, you can see the article.
Now that we’re done with the interview, I have to say that you got Barry McCarthy leaving. You got the exact month and everything.
I didn’t even know that. It’s crazy.
It’s like going back, looking over everything, and seeing the details of the big stuff. You also predicted the furlough for the instructors.
I said to you earlier that people are like, “You said this and you said that.” I forget. It’s like I just say.
I get it. That’s why I didn’t want to give you too much to think about while you were doing this. For people listening, it’s fascinating to go back and see the things you said and see what did come true and the context behind the conversation. Thank you very much for doing this. It’s always a pleasure.
Thank you. I look forward to this every year.
I do too. It’s become a tradition.
