Could This 135-Minute Moderate Pace Run Be a Part of Long Run Marathon Training in the New Pace Your Race Program?

Peloton instructor Susie Chan recently gave her Instagram followers a sneak peek at what could be a thrilling new addition to the platform’s running library. In a post to her Instagram Stories, Chan shared a screenshot of a 135-minute moderate pace run set to drop on April 24 and that date doesn’t feel like a coincidence. That is the same day the Peloton Pace Your Race marathon program launches. While Peloton hasn’t officially confirmed the connection, the timing makes it very hard not to connect the dots. We are excited, and we think you should be too. This potential new long run marathon training addition could represent the longest moderate-pace run available on the platform.

What Susie Chan Shared

Susie’s Instagram Stories showed a 135-minute moderate pace run scheduled to go live on April 24. For context, the current longest moderate-distance runs on the Peloton platform fall well short of that mark, making this a truly notable addition. Susie is one of Peloton’s most accomplished running instructors, bringing an extraordinary background to her classes.

Susie Chan posted a teaser image to her Instagram stories, possibly a part of Peloton's new long run marathon training program

She is an ultramarathoner, a four-time Marathon des Sables finisher, a Badwater 135 competitor, and a Guinness World Record holder for the furthest distance run on a treadmill in 12 hours — 68.54 miles. She has also been recognized by Runner’s World UK as the top runner to follow on Instagram. In short, when Susie Chan is recording a 135-minute run, you pay attention.

A New Long Run Marathon Training Option

The long run marathon training format is one of the cornerstones of any solid marathon preparation plan. Long runs build the aerobic base that every runner needs to survive and thrive at 26.2 miles. A 135-minute moderate pace effort is no small undertaking. It is the kind of sustained, steady-state work that trains the body to burn fat efficiently, manage fatigue, and stay mentally focused through the later miles of a race.

If this class is indeed part of the Pace Your Race program, it fills a gap that Peloton’s library has not previously addressed with this level of depth. Up until now, Peloton has offered a variety of running classes, including outdoor runs and tread-based options, but a structured long run marathon training class at this duration and at a specifically moderate effort would be a first for the platform. The long run marathon training philosophy emphasizes time on feet over pace, and this 135-minute class appears built around exactly that idea.

Why This Drop Date Matters

April 24 is not a random date. As we have already reported, that is the launch day for the Peloton Pace Your Race marathon program, an 18-week structured training plan designed to guide runners toward a fall marathon. The program is set to include endurance, strength, mobility, meditation, and power components which creates a comprehensive approach that reflects how seriously Peloton is investing in the running community.

The Pace Your Race program is Peloton’s most ambitious running program to date, and a 135-minute long run marathon training class would slot in perfectly as one of its signature weekly long efforts. It is worth noting that Peloton’s existing Road to Your 26.2 program has always included long runs as a key component, so the addition of a longer, dedicated long run marathon training class would bring meaningful new depth to that framework.

What It Means for Runners

For Peloton members training for a fall marathon, this could be a game-changer. Having a dedicated long run marathon training class with a defined moderate effort level takes the guesswork out of one of the week’s most important workouts. Instead of loading up an arbitrary playlist and going it alone, runners would have Susie Chan in their ear for 135 minutes, guiding pacing, managing effort, and bringing all of her endurance expertise to every mile.

This also reflects Peloton’s broader commitment to serving runners at every level and plans to lean further in to Tread sales. Whether a member is chasing a first finish or a personal best, having a long run marathon training resource like this on demand is the kind of addition that makes the platform genuinely more valuable for serious runners.

We will have more details as they become available. In the meantime, mark April 24 on your calendar, and maybe stretch your legs a little.
