Peloton Teams Update: A New Era of Social Fitness

Peloton is making it easier for Members to connect, compete, and stay motivated with new social-fitness-focused updates to its Teams feature. Originally launched in September 2024, Teams allowed Members to create small fitness groups to track progress and hold each other accountable. Now, Peloton has expanded the feature, marking a clear shift into the world of social networking.

What’s New in Peloton Teams?

  • Larger Communities – Teams can now include up to 50,000 Members, making it easier to build or join large fitness groups.
  • Easier Team Discovery – Find Teams based on popularity, profile tags, or search by name and description to connect with like-minded fitness enthusiasts.
  • More Ways to Engage – Celebrate milestones with emoji reactions 🏆 or leave supportive comments to encourage teammates.
  • Public Teams – Members can now create Public Teams, allowing anyone on Peloton to join and participate.
  • Custom Goals – Team leaders can set personalized leaderboard challenges for running, walking, cycling, or rowing.
  • Enhanced Admin Controls – New tools make managing Teams easier, including assigning secondary admins and organizing challenges.

Using Community to Fuel Motivation

Acccording to Peloton, this latest update highlights the power of fitness communities in keeping Members motivated. In a 2024 Peloton survey, nearly 70% of participants said having an online fitness group helped them stay committed. Whether training for a big race or fitting in quick workouts, Teams gives Members one more way to provide accountability to that end.

How to Start Your Team

The updated Teams feature is now available on the Peloton App in all markets. Whether you’re looking for competition, encouragement, or just a fun way to stay active, Peloton Teams makes fitness a shared experience.

Note: If you ever find yourself on a team where you’re not comfortable with all of your teammates, that’s okay! Peloton offers a block feature, allowing you to tailor your Team experience and ensure it remains positive and enjoyable.
