Peloton Introduces New Onboarding Experience and Fee for Secondary Market Buyers

Streamlining Onboarding for Secondary Market Purchases

Ahead of today’s 4th Quarter FY 2024 Earnings Call, Peloton announced the launch of a new onboarding experience tailored specifically for customers purchasing Peloton equipment through secondary markets (aka, owner-to-owner sales of Peloton hardware). Peloton plans for this initiative to provide a seamless transition for new owners of secondhand Peloton hardware, ensuring they can quickly access Peloton’s features and content.

Simplified Activation Process

According to Peloton, the new onboarding experience includes a simplified activation process for secondary market purchasers. Upon registering their device, users will receive guided instructions to help them set up and start their Peloton journey with ease.

Enhanced Support and Security

In addition to streamlined onboarding, Peloton is offering enhanced support to these customers, ensuring they receive the same level of service as first-time buyers. The initiative also includes security measures to verify the legitimacy of purchased equipment, safeguarding users against potential fraud.

Acknowledgment of Secondary Market Growth

Peloton’s new program underscores its recognition of the growing number of secondary market buyers. The initiative aims to make the Peloton experience accessible to a broader audience, regardless of how or where they acquired their equipment. For more details on the onboarding process, visit Peloton’s official press release.

Note:  In order for second-hand equipment to work, there will be a one-time User Activation Fee of $95 USD ($125 CAD) on all secondary-market hardware.  If buyers choose not to pay the User Activation Fee, they will find a sample of classes that will be available along with the Just Workout feature.
