Members Celebrate New Peri/Menopause Classes
We’ve asked, and Peloton answered! Jen Cotter, Peloton’s Chief Content Officer, recently confirmed to The Clip Out that new classes focused on what members have been waiting for would be rolling out soon, and they are here! Specific programming aimed at perimenopausal and menopausal women!
New Weighted Vest Walks and Hikes with Rebecca and Joslyn Help with Menopausal Challenges
Walking with a weighted vest can be a game-changer for menopausal women because it combines the benefits of cardio with the magic of strength training. The added weight helps build bone density, which is crucial as menopause can make bones more fragile. Plus, it helps your body burn more calories, making it a fantastic tool for managing weight gain during this stage of life. Rebecca has been talking about her perimenopause thoughts in recent classes (in other disciplines on the platform) so it’s no surprise she’s leading the charge here! Even hubby Andy talks more and more about the importance of so much of the work we do in Peloton as we age. And Joslyn’s steady approach to life and training will similarly be a great match for this kind of class. (As with any class on the Peloton platform, make sure that the level of work is right for you… while weighted vest work offers benefits to many, only you know what’s appropriate for your body.)
New Rides Labelled “Sprint Interval” and a Collection – It’s CDE Menopause Mayhem
Sprint Interval Training is a unique interval style of riding that CDE talks about frequently. This ride type is one of her most-searched and she is the only instructor who consistently offers this (when you can find them!). (Check out why this work is so crucial to incorporate in this article.) In today’s rollout, three new classes dropped, which is amazing! But that’s not all…
A little after this first new set of classes appeared On Demand, Peloton finally added a Collection for these! Members have been waiting a long time for this, and with eight classes loaded, Peloton is off to a great start here!
More Recent Additions – Longevity Focused Classes
Earlier in May, Peloton released Longevity classes, two co-led by Camila Ramon and Katie Wang and one with Adrian Williams. These are low impact strength and mobility sessions focused on both participating with an older loved one, or, as the older member. They are delightful and intentional, helping younger members understand the needs of older bodies (and minds), while also giving members who take these classes solo some solid work to do at their own pace.
Why We’re So Happy
If you’re reading this and you’re in the 40+ female demographic, you may be as thrilled as we are that Peloton has heard us! We are a pretty big (and vocal) group. According to Statista, in 2023, Peloton members between the ages of 25 and 34 made up 29% of their users. That suggests that there are a lot of us on the other side! And with 80% of The Clip Out’s readership being women over the age of 35, we know this is good news today for all of you!
What We’d Love to See Next for the Menopause Members
More Slow and Heavy Lifting
Another popular class type that can be hard to find is one of the most recommended for women in perimenopause and menopause: slow, heavy lifting. While we applaud the way Peloton has responded to interest in this and has definitely added classes with this focus over the last year or so, they are still hard to find. We’d love a better filter or Collection for these, as well as more variety of instructors doing this important work.
Outdoor Weighted Vest Classes
Sure, anyone can wear a weighted vest on an Outdoor walk, but wouldn’t it be great to get a curated chat while you do it?
So, with all this news, are you excited to be heard? What do you want to see next?
