This and That From the Peloverse, Week of April 22

Welcome to this week’s edition of This and That From the Peloverse!  Here’s a wrap up of some of the smaller things that you might have missed, but things that caught our eye nevertheless.

A-Ok after AFib

Jess Malone, Segment Producer at Peloton and close friend of several of the Instructors, was featured in a Today Show story this week, highlighting a recent health scare that was caught with the help of her Apple Watch.  Jess was hospitalized with Atrial Fibrillation, more commonly known as AFib, which affects an estimated 2.7-6.1 million people in the United States at any given time and causes roughly 450,000 hospitalizations each year (source: Yale Medicine).  We’re so happy to see that she has fully recovered, and her story will help save so many lives.  Read Jess’s story here.

Aditi Shah, Bond Girl

Ok, no, not officially, but she sure is having the most glamorous trip to Egypt this past week!  Aditi is using her time away from PSNY to travel across the globe for a friend’s (gorgeous!!) wedding in Cairo and has been capturing her adventures and her ‘fits in the Instagram stories along the way.  And, we’re here to tell you, she. is. slaying.  the fashion game on this trip.  We know that a new James Bond is being cast, and we humbly throw Aditi’s name into the ring when the time comes to consider the next Bond Girl.  She would smash it!

Meditate Your Way Through May

Looking for a way to cultivate your Zen as one might cultivate a garden during the Spring planting season?   Peloton has a challenge for that!

Starting May 1, you can celebrate Mental Health Awareness Month and earn a badge by taking a meditation class for 10, 20 or 31 days of the month.  With Maycember lurking around the corner (mommas, you know what I’m talking about), this is a perfectly timed challenge to find a little bit of peace amongst the chaos of what typically can be a very busy month.

Serenity Now, with Sam

Speaking of cultivating a sense of calm, Sam has unveiled a new series called Seasonal Recovery.  No, it’s not the meditations that we know a large portion of the Pelo-population keep hoping for, but we would say that these are certainly meditation-adjacent.  No bike?  Pop those earbuds in and hit play on this class while you go for a walk out in nature.  We’re pretty sure Sam won’t mind that you’re not on a bike.  The first class, a 20-minute Spring Recovery ride, is available in the On Demand library now.

PSNY Field Trip

DJ and music producer LP Giobbi stopped by PSNY for a listening session last week.  If her name sounds familiar, that’s because she had several classes featured in this past year’s All For One music festival (you can find her classes in the On Demand library).  She stopped for a photo with Alex K, DJ John Michael, Denis and Jess K., but we can’t help but wonder if there’s something more to come from this.  Time will tell….and then we’ll be sure to tell you!
